Heading over Oxford way to watch the Japanese luchador sensations of Dragon Gate invade the UK for what I am told is the first time ever. Quite why wrestling promotions always assume that foreign countries will be enthusiastic about being invaded is one of many mysteries that I hope to solve once there. Other lingering questions involve the precise number of unwashed twenty-somethings that I have signed up to share a travel lodge room with, and exactly how many unforeseen expenses can be crowbarred into a 24 hour trip.
The card looks pretty stacked, and more or less all the top names that I'm familiar with have come across for the tour. I won't be meeting any of them because paying £25 for a meet and greet session with a bunch of guys who don't speak much English didn't seem like a prudent investment.
Having never attended a live wrestling show in my life I pretty god-damn pumped up, even if nobody in the promotion is even the slightest bit old school.
Anybody got any words of wisdom?
