Ashley Massaro has confirmed through her Myspace account that she has asked for a release from the WWE. She states that her daughter is sick and she simply can't do both. The following is the post she made today:

I have some thing to tell you guys and I wanted u 2 be the first 2 hear it...I tried very hard out of the respect I have for her privacy and not wanting her 2 be exposed in any negative light but I have a 7yr old daughter and I just found out 2day that she not well and I can't be on the road with WWE when my own flesh and blood needs me...I am a single parent trying 2 juggle taking care of my child and working my butt off for her and now at this point when she is sick and needs me home I have 2 make the decision 2 bow out of wwe for a while and take care of my daughter...I wish I could do both and that there were more ways 2 get everything done but with the severity of the situation I'm going 2 have 2 ask for an early release for now...I may be back if she gets better...please keep her in your prayers...I love the wwe...I love all the talent that works there and most of all I love all the fans...thanks for always being so supportive...so this is me taking a bow and stepping out of the lime light right now to take care of my family...stick with me guys cause I will be back somewhere some how when this is all over...thanks for all your love and support and I'm sorry 2 be the bearer of bad news...thanks and good night my punks...stick with me ill see you soon

Dirty Dirty"

Alot of people are pretty skeptical about Ashley's story. The fact that no one knew about a daughter all this time brings a little suspision. With her "prostitute" controversy, she sould still use from time off, but is she making up a story just to leave.

Personally I think her story is legit. I'm thinking that she wants to keep her life private so didnt mention her daughter. After her daughter gets seriously sick, (i dun think shell just leave for a cold), she puts her priorities first and does what she knows is the right thing. I respect that and I wish them both the best of luck.

BTW, here is a picture of Ashley with her daughter, Alexis

I don't see any reason to doubt her story. Granted, the prostitute scandal is still pretty fresh, but I can't say it's made a helluva lot of press. I wouldn't think that's a reason she would quit WWE. Hell, they might have just paid her to stay home for a while until the whole thing blew over!

I hope her daughter gets well, but I was never a big fan of Ashley. I couldn't stand her stupid sideways baseball cap & the way she points at the crowd. It's like she's saying "hey, I can be one of the guys too!!" ...Can ya? Gimme a break. Also, she has a really nice face, but those awful lip rings just completely ruin it.

I want to buy her story because I just don’t like to think that anyone would use their child as an “excuse.” What makes me doubt her story is that she hasn’t been used in recent months. Wouldn’t she already be at home more if she’s only working a handful of house shows (if that) a month? While I don’t know the details of her contract, it stands to reason that your pay is somewhat relative to how much they work you. And I don’t believe she’s been on TV since April, so perhaps she isn’t making as much money as she’d like. Also if they aren’t going to use her, maybe she wants to take her “talents” elsewhere. Or perhaps she realized that professional wrestling just isn’t for her considering she’s spent more time injured than as an active wrestler in the two years.

If her kid is sick or is just in need of its mother, then she's doing the right thing regardless of what we think of her personally. However, it's not even a small loss for the company. She wasn't even on RAW much when she returned. I liked her at the beginning of her career in the company, but she never panned out as I though originally.

Personally, I'm not really too concerned about whether her story is ficitional or not. In all honest, it just gets her out of the WWE. I was never a fan of hers to begin with. She never really added anything to the proceedings, not to mention the fact that she can't wreste. At least other non-wrestling divas like Maria, Candice, etc. are good to look at.

In a joking manner, I'd be half and half to even believe she'd be the type of person to have a child. I wouldn't put it beyond her to have gotten pregnant, what with the escort thing and all. :lmao: But the fact is, she doesn't strike me as the responsible type. And furthermore, if she is a Mother.. who watched her child for all these years thus far?

And didn't she jump into a relationship with Matt Hardy? I mean, I'm not saying single Mother's can't do that.. but shes made a lot of irresponsible choices in her life since being in the W.W.E.. and suddenly shes a Mother of a child thats older than her career? I don't know if thats buyable. But clearly she HAS to have a kid, otherwise W.W.E. would see right through THAT.

My opinion on the situation. I believe Ashley has been contacted in some manner by T.N.A. to come in and become Kurt Angle's new "fling" to go against Karen Angle. It'd make perfect sense, seeing as to how Ashley is kinda got the ****ish look. So I think this is her attempt to get out of a meaningless contract with a company that won't use her no-talent ass.. and she'll jump to T.N.A., get paid likely just as much, and work a bigger profile storyline.

I was thinking the exact same thing.. who the hell watched her child?? I also think it is nearly impossible to keep a big secret like this from everyone, for all these years. Either someone just hacked into her myspace and made up that bullshit, or she simply just wants attention, and wants to be used better by the WWE by threatening to leave.

I just can't see her as a mother, especially after the escort thing got out in the media. If she is a mother, then she is a very unfit one mainly because of the escort thing.

I personally think its bullshit. Theres always two sides to every story.

i just read that she was told by WWE to say that or something. its on their FanNation page on their website in those forums. I really dont know what to believe and does she even have a daughter? im pretty sure mommy and daddy arent watching her lol

Hmm... I don't know know perhaps maybe *gasp* the father of the child? No thats way to obvious of an answer

No its pretty simple, most people still act surprised when they learn that Jillian has a child

Either someone just hacked into her myspace and made up that bullshit

possibly

or she simply just wants attention, and wants to be used better by the WWE by threatening to leave.

I don't think anyone would joke about their child being sick. If these "rumors" were false, I would have bet Ashley would have probably tried to debunk them by now

Oh, so because of some of personal choices that Ashley MAY have made automatically makes her a bad mother. I personally think thats horseshit. It isn't fair to judge someone as a parent based on some of their dirty laundry that gets aired to the public. You don't know Ashley personally, nor do you know how she handles herself with her child. As far as anyone is concerned, Ashley could be a great mother.

Theres always two sides to every story.

but assuming the worst always narrows the size of that other side

i just read that she was told by WWE to say that or something.

yes, WWE is planning on doing a storyline. They plan to put Ashley in a feud with CM Punk for the World Title

I really dont know what to believe and does she even have a daughter?

yes

im pretty sure mommy and daddy arent watching her lol

no, the 7 year old pretty much just takes care of herself

Like most females Ashley can leave, and nobody would truly care. She's more over than most. But the vast majority of female wrestlers are interchangeable. Out of all the females that have been in WWE & WCW over the years, the only ones that would be considered true legends would be Liz & Sherri. Trish if you're 10. Ashley will just go on the scrap heap like most females in that business.

I dont understand why any of you feel you need to comment on this. Oh she was a prostitute.. so? Would she lie about her daughter being ill to quit the company because she slept with a few guys for 15k a night? I doubt it and who cares.

I buy her story. I've seen how people reeeaaally mark out when they see certain people. Wrestlemania Weekend I saw Shawn Michaels, my all-time favorite wrestler, with Rebecca and his kids and I let him be. There were just swarms of people freaking out around me though. I can see why Ashley would want to keep her child under wraps. She's spent a lot of her time in WWE injured, but has always come back. She wasn't the most skilled diva but she kept coming back. Plus I got the chance to meet her, and she insanely sweet. Do I buy her story? Yes, because I don't think her (or many others) would use their child to leave the business. If she wanted to use an excuse she could've used many others, I don't think she'd use her kid as one.

I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread. Or maybe it's just the title of it that threw me. I'll admit I haven't followed the career of Ashley, or ever read her blog, so I don't know what kind of a person she is. But it seems to me through reading this thread that a lot of people find themselves in the position to judge her in general, or make unfair judgments about her life based on other factors, some of which haven't even been proven.

And I guess what boggles my mind most about this thread in general is that it sounds as though people react like ashley owes them some sort of explanation in the first place. Why? It sounds as though she has a blog that she posts in regularly, which is more than many other wrestlers already do. It sounds like she generally cares about what her fans think.

I'm not trying to criticize other posters in this thread by any means, I guess I just don't understand why the feeling that she owes anyone an explanation in the first place, and when she provides one, the need to pick it apart.

I dont know about anyone else but I had no idea Ashley had a kid up until now. That's assuming that she does.

I could care less about the woman to be honest. She basically pissed all over the womens division with her crappy wrestling ( If you want to call it that ).

I dont buy her story for a couple of reasons, reason number one being, I dont see how she managed to keep the fact that she has a 7 year old kid a secret for the last 3 years, reason number two, we found out a few months ago she was a prostitute .... hmmmm. I would use my daughters ''illness'' as an excuse to quit too if i was in her situation. ouch!

I don't buy it personally - as others have said there was NO mention of her child at any time prior to this although everyone knew about her relationship with Matt Hardy? Matt Hardy is a camera-****e (or at least he was during his released time)- wouldn't you think his girlfriend's daughter MIGHT show up?

Past that she has also apparently changed her message from
7-year-old daughter to "family member."

Oh and everyone keeps saying why would she deny or try to cover up the prostitution ordeal - well, I would say MOST girls would be humiliated if everyone, including her family, were to find out on a major scale. I mean the story didn't get much air time, maily because Ashley Massaro isn't much of a celebrity and you only know of her if you watch wrestling or look at Playboy but she would also know very well that all internet wrestling fans knew about the story.
