AS 40: Mr. Baller vs. Chris Beckford

As I awoke this morning in my hotel room, I couldn't help but think that I had missed out on a big opportunity on Meltdown last week. It had been the fatal four way match for the EurAsian Championship between myself, Blade, Scott Hammond and Black Dragon, who ultimately came out with the belt. I had said last week that as long as anybody other than Blade won the match it would be fine with me but this morning I'm feeling rather empty. I tried to explain to myself that it was a good thing that Blade had finally lost his belt and it was someone else’s turn in the spotlight but honestly, I'm gutted it's not me. I tried to clear my mind of negative thoughts by throwing on a dressing gown and gazing out into the chilly November morning from my hotels balcony, I had a busy day coming up with all sorts of WZCW promotional work and would be meeting up with Leon Kensworth later in the day for a WZCW.com feature on the new WZCW Kingdom Come video game. As the cold air continued to hit me, all I wanted to do was jump back into the nice warm bed and rest, I had been nursing a few minor injuries for a while and my body was still sore, but I persisted and decided it was time to get dressed properly and be ready for the day ahead. I threw on a pair of my favorite green jogging bottoms, a nice white T-shirt, my blue Adidas trainers and put my Ipod headphones in, then set off for the morning gym session.

I got to the gym in good time and decided to up my workout regime. I decided that for my increased workout I'd need the right music, so it was time to pull out the new Hardcore Underground album I'd just bought a few days earlier. The fast paced music always makes me smile, especially when I hear it on my entrance to the ring and there are thousands of people screaming...there's no better feeling in the world. I cranked my Ipod to full volume and before I knew it the workout was over. A quick shower and I was dressed again and ready for the next stop in my day. I had a few hours to kill before I had to meet with Leon so I decided to head back to the hotel and catch up with what happened on Ascension.

While watching Ascension I noticed how competitive WZCW is right now. Big Dave is a fully deserving Champion and Ty will certainly not be done with him yet, so I imagine countless back and forth between the two over the next month. That could be a problem though with guys like Gordito and Barbosa waiting in the wings for a shot at the main prize. Elsewhere the Elite X Championship is certainly in a messy situation especially with Constantine’s return. Smith was already having issues with Steven Holmes so this isn't exactly ideal and I think it's only a matter of time before he loses the belt. I was in the ring with Smith myself a few weeks ago and he ended up beating me, he has the talent to be a major player here but with both guys gunning for him it'll be a massive struggle for him to keep the belt. The Tag Team belts are finally having legitimate uses with a decent rivalry going on. The team of Austin Reynolds and Ricky Runn has been a breath of fresh air to the division and I loved their battles with Stantime. Now Stantime are out of the equation Mind over Matter stepped up and took the belts. I can only see great things happening with the belts while these two teams are going at it. Finally the EurAsian Championship and we have Black Dragon as champion? If I have anything to say about it he won’t be champion long. The big problem he will have is following Blades reign people will be expecting him to be just as good. It happened with me after Big Dave's reign and people say it was a disappointment. I disagree of course and in my opinion I had big shoes to follow, I mean just look at where Big Dave is now. Irregardless I'm sure he'll do just fine until I come knocking at the door again.

I looked back at Meltdown, and that 'one' big moment. For weeks and weeks Blade had been pestering Scott Hammond to be at his side and this week it seems like Hammond finally caved in to him. Hammond’s actions at the end of the fatal four way were despicable and I decided to make him stop his assault on Dragon. Blade had to rear his ugly head into the situation and thus Hammond became his lapdog, handcuffing me and attacking me. It wasn't the first beating I had taken in WZCW and it probably won't be the last but it could have been much worse had Dragon not returned to save me, so I have to thank him for that and I congratulate him on winning the belt. I have to ask Scott Hammond why would he want to ally himself with Blade? It's only a matter of time before he turns on him for his own personal gain but screw it, Hammonds deserved it with his actions and I'll be looking for revenge sooner rather than later.

After I caught up on what happened on Ascension it was time to meet Leon. After my unfortunate meeting with Stacey at the commercial voiceover for the WZCW Kingdom Come game it felt like in some weird way I'd missed him. On the way to meet him I checked my E-Mails to find that I was scheduled for one on one action this week on Meltdown against Mr. Baller. Baller has been somewhat of a revelation over the past year in WZCW. I've faced him twice in my career and won both times but that was against him at different stages of his career. He started out as an absolute joke and I happily beat him. Then I faced him as he was gradually turning his career around, becoming much more of a force and I still managed to beat him then. This time round Baller has main evented matches...not just any matches...title matches. The man has turned the corner and become a tremendous athlete and difficult customer to deal with. Hopefully I will have enough in my tank to overcome him once again but it will not be easy. As I met with Leon we discussed the forthcoming Meltdown as well as an interview about the game. He asked me if I played as myself which I replied of course and that I was already WZCW Champion. Something tells me that it will be a while before that becomes a reality.

After I left Leon I returned to my hotel room, the night was closing in and I hadn't eaten a thing. I decided to eat a quick ham salad sandwich and head down to the hotel bar. I'm not one to have a massive drink, I think the last time I did was in the Sludge Pit with Gordy, but I felt like a beer would be the perfect end to a long day. As always though, being in WZCW you hardly get anytime to yourself and I was immediately accosted for autographs from others in the hotel. It was fun to get to know a few of the fans, but my plan to kick back and relax in the bar had failed. I was tired, still sore and aching with some of the bruises from Meltdown I decided that enough was enough and returned to my hotel room for an early night.

I jumped into the bed and before long I started dropping off to sleep; before I did I let out a wry smile, knowing full well that it all starts again tomorrow.

Another week of WZCW television has concluded and Mr. Baller coming off a loss to Titus is pacing around General Manager Vance Bateman’s office. Baller is constantly checking his watch for the time as he waits for his planned appointment.

Baller: What the hell is taking him so long? He has held me back long enough and now he is making me wait just to have a goddamn meeting. How the hell did this man get to become general manager? Are there even any qualifications for this?

As Baller concludes his mini rant to himself, the door opens and Vance Bateman pops his head through the door.

Bateman: You were saying Baller…

Baller: What took you so long; I have been waiting here for over an hour.

Bateman: Well whose fault is that? I’m early; the appointment isn’t scheduled for another 15 minutes, now come on in and lets make this quick, I got to start putting together some plans for All or Nothing.

As the two men enter the office, Bateman takes a seat at his desk, well Baller decides to not sit at the chair in front of the desk but instead stand up near the back of his office with his back on the wall.

Bateman: So what is it this time Baller?

Baller: I still haven’t gotten my one on title match that I deserve. I didn’t get pinned at Unscripted, yet the man who did get pinned, Ty Burna, gets a rematch. It doesn’t make sense. It is egregious that I don’t get a fair shot. I was attacked by the Apostles of Chaos, that alone should give me another chance.

Bateman: For the 100th time Baller, as a champion, they have an automatic rematch clause against the man who defeated him for the title. Thus Ty got his rematch. Any one who has had a title would know that. Oh wait…

Baller: Are you implying something Bateman? I am a former Mayhem and Tag Team Champion. I didn’t get no stinking rematch.

Bateman: Well lets see here. Your Mayhem title victory was in a scramble match where you didn’t start or finish the match as champ thus no rematch. And you ended the career of your tag team partner so you couldn’t get a rematch there.

Baller: Those are all stupid issues. That doesn’t deny me the fact that over the past few months I have beaten multiple legends and have dominated anybody who has come in my way.

Bateman: Then what happened against Titus this week? I don’t think you dominated him.

Baller: I couldn’t focus on Titus. I was so distracted by the fact that Ty got another shot at the World Title instead of me. The man who beat Everest, Steamboat Ricky, was not pinned in the Hell in a Cell match but no lets give it to a guy who loses to Saboteur, gets pinned in the Hell in a Cell match, and has to have his two goons do all of his dirty work for him and attack his opponents during a World Title match. He should be suspended for such actions and ruining my moment and my title opportunity. But instead what do you do? You give him a title shot. It makes no sense Vance, and in fact I think you are holding a grudge against me.

You have stocked the odds against me since day one, and have put me in unfair situations and haven’t given me the credit I deserve. You still treat me as the joke I once was. I am a new man now, I have a new head, and ever since I have been better then ever. But instead I am still treated as the guy who tried to pin Phoenix in the Lethal Lottery. Well newsflash to you Vance, I’m not I am the best in this business, when I am in a fair situation and my mind is right, there is absolutely nobody who can stop me.

Bateman: You know what, you gave me an idea.

Baller: A title match?

Bateman: No. You are going to go one on one this week with the man who got rid of your old head, Chris Beckford.

Baller: This is ridiculous. I am done. I’m going to do something about this.

Bateman chuckles, and puts his hands under his chin.

Bateman: And what’s that?

Baller: Oh you’ll see Bateman. You can’t hold me back forever.

Baller then heads out of his office and slams the door in the process. As soon as he leaves Bateman’s office, he takes out his cell phone and makes a phone call.

Baller: Hey, Vanessa it’s Baller. Can I get an appointment with Mr. Brooks in about 2 hours from now… 5:30, perfect. See you then.

Baller then slams his phone as he heads out of the WZCW building to go to his appointment with Mr. Brooks.

As Baller pulls into the parking lot, he parks right in front of a big white building. On top of the building is a sign saying Brooks Law Firm. Baller quickly gets out of his BMW, and enters the office. As soon as he walks in a man greets him, around 6 feet tall, wearing in all white suit. He has short black hair, and has a big grin on his face.

Man: Baller, been a long time man. How are you doing?

Baller: I am doing great Ryan, it’s been a while since we’ve played ball. But I really need your help.

Ryan: It truly has been too long since we have worn the green and orange. But anyway come walk into my office and lets discuss the situation.

As the two walk into Ryan Brook’s office there is tons of University of Miami (UM) Memorabilia with Baller and Brooks and the rest of the UM basketball team throughout the office. The two then take a seat and begin to discuss.

Ryan: So what’s going on with WZCW my man?

Baller: As you have been watching I have been on a major roll lately and have beaten all of the top guys in the company yet the General Managers Vance Bateman and Chuck Myles have been holding me back. They refuse to give me a one on one opportunity for the title.

Ryan: Yeah I saw that. The Apostles of Chaos screwed you at Unscripted, and with the roll you we’re on for the past few months you should’ve had a title match even before Unscripted. And then now Ty got his rematch even though he took the fall at Unscripted and Gordito is the next challenger at All or Nothing.

Baller: Exactly. The fans basically got to decide that tournament then what the hell is a point of a general manager. That tournament can’t be seen as legit, it’s a joke the fans eliminate 2/3 of the competition and then one match decides it all. No way that can hold. One match over my past few months of body of work. Hell Gordito was sleeping in his stupid pit a few months ago but now he is the number one contender. It is an absolute joke.

Ryan: I wholeheartedly agree. I think we have a legit case here against WZCW management. Have you had any talks with Bateman or Myles as of late?

Baller: Yeah I just got out of a talk with Bateman and he basically laughed me off, and stuck me in a match with Beckford. It’s a waste of my time and he is wasting another match off my career. I am thinking of not even showing up, as a protest to the decisions made by those two morons.

Ryan begins to think for a second, and then snaps his fingers.

Ryan: I thought about that idea, but I don’t think I that is the right course of action. We need to continue to build a case.

Baller: My last few months of dominance isn’t enough, this garbage has already hindered my performance and cost me a match against Titus because I couldn’t focus on him.

Ryan: Well see that is something they can hold against you. You need to go back to your dominating ways that we both know you are capable of, and continue to rack up the wins. The more wins you get the better the case gets, and we can then file a lawsuit.

Baller: Well then Beckford, I guess your chances of beating me have just gone out the window. Ever since you took off my head you have become the face of mediocrity while I have been the face of greatness. You even decided to leave the company for a while just to take a break from those weakly ass beatings. I haven’t forgot about what you did to me a while back and I will not take you lightly. I want to make you want to take another break from WZCW after I am done and prove to Bateman and Myles that I will not stop until I get the title shot that I truly deserve. So Beckford be ready for this, because I sure as hell will. You are nothing but the first step in my road to the WZCW World Title, and I will make sure you are nothing but that. Not only are you the first step in the road, but I am out for revenge, and I will not let the bell ring until I get it and you better believe that.
