I think TNA have been producing a really solid show lately. Ever since they changed the emphasis of the name to Impact Wrestling, they've been obliged to deliver more wrestling, which I couldn't be happier with.
Some things that really stand out in my mind...
- The X Division matches building upto Destination X. All three matches so far have been phenomenal. Every Impact should feature a three way X Division match if they're gonna be that good! If TNA know what's good for them, they'll sign all the competitors for that contract match whether they win or not. Aries and Low-Ki are no brainers. Just let them do what they do and it's gold.
- Velvet Sky. I mean I'd watch Impact for her even if she just stood there, but she's really upped her game lately. Especially that one brawl she had with ODB. She really kicked some ass!
- Sting's psychotic break. I'd grown seriously tired of the straight faced paragon of virtue Sting. He bored the hell out of me. While him stealing the look of Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight is abit on the nose, I much prefer his new deranged character. I particularly liked the start of last week's show where he'd beaten a powerless Hulk Hogan into the corner and proceeded to cosy up next to him and feed Terry his vitamins.
- The Bound for Glory series. While I'm not a big fan of the guy's they're choosing to push at the top of the scoreboard (Gunner and Crimson? Seriously?), I appreciate the idea of the series. It makes every match count., something that's long been missing from professional wrestling.
However, TNA isn't entirely perfect. There is MUCH still to improve upon. Such as...
- Mexican America. So lame. They come out, say the exact same thing every week, lower a giant flag infront of the audience (that must be so irritating), make the silly whistle noise and go off on their way. Make a point or sod off.
- The systematic burying of Samoa Joe. What the f*** is up with their booking of Joe at the moment?!?! This is a guy who had an eighteen month winning streak and they've got him jobbing to guys week in, week out? RVD i could wrap my head around, but Devon? The Samoan Submission Machine can't beat the weak-link Dudley Boy? Come on guys, cut the cr*p and let's get back to "Joe's gonna kill you".
- Gunner beating multiple World Champions in a row. In a matter of weeks, this guy has gone from losing the Television Title to Eric Young in a joke match that lasted a matter of seconds, to pinning Sting, Anderson and Styles in short order. I call bulls***. I've seen nothing about Gunner that suggests he's the next big thing, other than he's stolen the finisher of the last next big thing.
- Crimson in general. They're making out as though he's the new Goldberg. The only problem being nobody gives a s*** about Crimson. He doesn't even plough through his opponents, he just eeks out victories for whatever cheap reason.
