Are We Ever Satisfied

It seems like the human body is never satisfied. No matter what happens we are always left wanting more. Whether you complain about it or not, you aren't ever satisfied because you are always left wanting more. For example, if you have an Ipod classic and a new Ipod touch comces out, you know you are going to want that new Ipod and you are no longer satified with the old one.

Whether you come out and say it or not, it seems like you have to have something better. You say you need it but usually it is a want and you don't have to have it.

Are we as people ever completely satisfied, or are we always wanting more?

If no, why do you think that is?

What do you think would lead to ultimate satisfaction?

Is it a good or bad thing to never be satisfied?

Are we as people ever completely satisfied, or are we always wanting more?

As a species the human race is just naturally a selfish bunch of people, where greedy in a sense that we always think we are the center of things important . We have veracious appetite for improvement. Weather its self improvement or materialistic improvement" We can always do better" and its a driving force that pushes us. We are never satisfied.

If no, why do you think that is?

Because its human nature to push ourselves to better not just ourselves as people but as a race. Its always been in us to strive for some sort of satisfaction, weather its just for ones desire, a nations goal or a global issue. For the most part we are in it for ourselves. To benefit us and nobody else.

What do you think would lead to ultimate satisfaction?

As an individual yes it is possible for one can be ultimately satisfied but that may only be wishful thinking. As a collective race I think its impossible. We will always want more

Is it a good or bad thing to never be satisfied?

If your satisfied, isn't that a good thing as opposed to constantly being insatiable towards the world around you? If your satisfied you should at least be content with yourself, maybe not towards others but being satisfied with yourself should be enough. I think its a good thing.

Are we as people ever completely satisfied, or are we always wanting more?

Nope. The day that mankind as a whole will stop wanting will be the day that mankind seizes to exist. Humans are very needy/wanting creatures. The more they are exposed to something (and like it), the more that they will want it. And upon achieving it, all it will do is fill them for the time being until something better comes out. Thus, a never ending cycles sproutes and the desire to have said thing and much more continues.

If no, why do you think that is?

It's the way mankind is. Specifically in America, people are grown spoiled - they are grown getting everything it is that they desire. But if things don't come out the way they want it, then they are not satisfied. And thus begin to bitch and whine about it.

What do you think would lead to ultimate satisfaction?

Well as whole, mankind will never be satisfied. Power, greed, corruption - all these attributes and many more will cause them to keep wanting more even though that they already have what they need to live by. As for individuallly, there are some people that don't require much to be satisfied; they are contempt with what they have and do not need anything else. However, while this may be an exception to the belief that states mankind is a needing bunch, the number of satisfied humans that inhabit the Earth are but a small number.

Is it a good or bad thing to never be satisfied?

Bad, obviously. if you stop wanting then you avoid the suffering that you will phase if you keep wanting. It is said that the more you want, the more you will undoubtedly suffer. This is very true. Say for instance you want a PS3. You crave it to the full extent possible; but because you don't have it, you begin to weep and thus live unhappily for the time being because you don't have the PS3. This brings missery to your life as you ultimately suffer for not having it.

Do you see the connection? Wanting only brings suffering; so therefore wanting is not necissarily a good thing. Though, man kind can't help for being the way they are. That's just the reality that they live.

No human beings are never satisfied. There is always something better than what you have, something you want that you have not got, something you havent seen or experience but want to.

Its just how humans are.

You can be happy with where you are, and what you have achieved, but there are always going to things that you think will make your life better, make you a better person, or that you just feel you need.

What do you think would lead to ultimate satisfaction?

Is it a good or bad thing to never be satisfied?

1. No, we are never satisfied. People shouldn't be satisfied. Necessity is the mother of invention. Satisfaction is the father that abandons it. However, in my opinion, we seem to complain about the wrong things.

It's always things like the aforementioned iPod. People will protest for things like iPods. However, when it comes to something that actually matters, people seem to just assume it's too big of a deal, and don't seem bothered enough by it. Not all, but some.

2. I think that people want things a bit easier than they should at times. If you bought a remote control that controlled EVERYTHING in your house, some people would say, "Yeah, but it doesn't come in black." People just think the world revolves around them. It simply, sadly enough ;], doesn't.

The world was here before all of us, it'll be here after all of us, as well. But, we as a society tend to forget this simple fact from time to time and will begin to complain about things that we feel entitled to. It's not our BIRTH RIGHT that we have a cell phone. Yet, can anyone (myself included) say they haven't complained about something involving a cell phone? It's literally sending a signal to SPACE. Yet, if we feel even the slightest delay, we act as if it's the worst thing to happen to the human race.

We act as if WE'RE doing technology a favor. And it happens within an instant. You could be handling a prototype product, and if it's not perfect... "This piece of shit is dumb. Doesn't even work." Lol.

Honestly, we're just lazier because somethings in life ARE easier. And because of that, we expect everything to act accordingly. Technology, for example, doesn't work that way.

3. Nothing. It's too late for that. What we can hope is that people settle down and that we try to make our lives as stress-less as possible. If we're able to do that, we can at the very least have more patience and we might be able to understand that nothing is perfect and SUPER FAST all the time.

4. As mentioned, it depends on the situation. If it's for technology.. give it a second. Let it cool down. Clean it up or have it cleaned up. Whatever the case may be. If it's for a relationship. Slow down and smell the roses.

But, if it's for knowledge, then satisfaction might be a bad thing. If you're DEVELOPING technology, then you might always want to strive for more.

To use a very fitting wrestling analogy...

No, we are never satisfied and to get another of your questions out of the way with one sentence, yes! Being dissatisfied with the product we are seeing is what will drive us and the WWE to create more diverse and interesting storyline.

Personally, I think the day that you are completely happy with what you have, is the day that you lose the battle with anything. I mean, look at people who attend the gym regularly. I go 4 times a week and I know that if I am ever happy with the way that I look, then I have lost the battle, I would stop going and that would be the end of that. The same, in a very perverse way, goes for the WWE. Just as soon as I am happy with the way that the company is doing everything, is the day that I stop watching.

This question is important for a lot of people and even more so for the people who consider themselves part of the IWC. All of us are here to talk about the failing and successes of the WWE and that is what creates discussion. Some people are happy with the direction of the company and the superstars that are fond therein. However, some people really do not care for anything that the WWE do and I suppose that is a healthy thing. If everyone was satisfied with the efforts that the WWE gave us, the WWE would be completely complacent and would stop striving to make us happy. Satisfaction is often easy to achieve but happiness is a much harder thing to obtain. I would rather be happy with some aspects of wrestling and annoyed by others... It's what keeps me watching and discussing it.

We, as the IWC, will never be happy with every iota of the WWE. We have been wasted by the Attitude Era and we all have to face up to that. Satisfaction is harder to come by now but the WWE are managing it more often than not.

As for the wider society and purpose of this thread, I think it all comes back to what I have said about us, as wrestling fans. The same goes for everything. We shouldn't be completely happy with anything. Once you find that satisfaction, then you stop trying to achieve more and that can only be a bad thing.

Are we as people ever completely satisfied, or are we always wanting more?

I don't that we, as humans, are ever satisfied. Many (I would even say most of us) keep tabs on the newest advancements in technology, vehicles, or what have you and desire to get rid of what is obsolete in order to stay current. We also do this in our careers, or many at least attempt to. Being on the bottom rung of the career ladder leaves nowhere to go but up, so one's goal of being a success lies further up on the ladder. This applies to almost every facet of life, but I feel you get the idea.

If no, why do you think that is?

Speaking from experience, this attitude is something that has been ingrained in me by my family and friends. I have always been taught to reach higher than where I am now and to aspire to reach my full potential in life (Don't know what they think of me going into sports broadcasting, but regardless...). Whether it be in love, career, or school, I have always been told to keep reaching for the best I can be or give to others.

What do you think would lead to ultimate satisfaction?

Continuing to speak in reference to myself, I hope that the end of my life will see ultimate satisfaction in all of the aforementioned areas. Being a Christian, I hope to have done a lot for God and church in whatever areas those may consist of. Along with that, to have a happy and long marriage, a healthy and loving family, and a successful and enduring career are all that I can really ask for from life.

Is it a good or bad thing to never be satisfied?[/QUOTE]

I think it is a good thing to never be satisfied in terms of one's goals and life in general. Someone once told me that if one becomes satisfied, he/she will become stagnant and begin to die. His analogy consisted of a lake: If running water ceases to flow into the lake, the water will become stagnant, algae will begin to overrun and cover the body of water, preventing sunlight from reaching the other creatures below the surface until, ultimately, everything underwater dies. I believe never being satisfied with objects in life can lead to a lack of appreciation for what we DO have, so there is an area in which this question can be answered both ways.
