Anybody Notice The Big Face Pop Del Rio Got?

Hope the writers are paying attention. When Del Rio came out, the crowd went crazy for him. He started heeling it up and they got quiet. I don't think he ever really connected as a heel. So....make him a face.

Christian also got a face pop as well so it means nothing, it just teh fact that they were both gone for a while and the fans were just happy to see them back

There was no face pop. There was the typical favorable response that any superstar returning unexpectedly from an injury always gets. Heel or face, a surprise appearance always gets a pop for a response.

I think ADR would make a terrible face. Then again, I think he's a below average heel. I would not push him too extensively as either a heel or a face if I were calling the shots.

Gotta agree, i dont think the pop reflects a need for a heel turn. Its just a case of a talent starved crowd seeing people they havnt for a while.
Jim Ross gets a pop when he comes out but he shouldnt headline a ppv. Look at the "top" contenders on Smackdowns battle royal last week. Mid/lower card people at best - maybe a couple of exceptions but when you watch hunico, uso's and barretta and the lack of interest they provoke from most of the crowd for a few week's Del Rio returning seems like Hogan!
Give him a week after he's back and people will lose interest again.

Every time a wrestler comes back from a holiday/injury/suspension they always get cheered and the fans always treat them like a face. It's because they come back fresh. He wouldn't be any more successful as a face then what he is as a heel.

He got a reaction because he was a shock return, it also broke off JL and maybe some cheered because of the interupption. I know I was glad of it, maybe he should turn face after all that's what you do when you fail to get a reaction just turn. Charector development is way over-rated just make an easy turn, people will always love you for it.

Child please. Del Rio's pop didn't last any longer than Christian's, and I'd love to know how you can claim to know why the fans were cheering each of them.

To the OP, yes I noticed the face pop - not what I would call a "big" face pop(if that's big, what do you call Santino's crowd reaction?), but a face pop nonetheless.

Like others have said, it was simply because he was returning from injury. People cheer when somebody comes back that they haven't seen in awhile - just like Christian got cheered. But beyond that, people also cheer when a heel gets interrupted - and Del Rio and Christian were both interrupting Johnny Ace. Mark Henry got a temporary pop as well.

Johnny gets interrupted by music, you start to cheer. You hear music you haven't heard in awihle, you keep cheering. Then you remember you hate the guy who's coming out, and you stop cheering and start booing. That's not the recipe for a face turn.
