Angles Or Matches That Have Ruined Careers

Dark Match Winner
There are certain angles or matches that have been famous (or infamous) for basically ruining a talents career or if not there career then their reputation, Ill name the 1st ones that came to my mind

Kane-most people think the Katie Vick angle started it, I agree thats a huge part, but the downhill slide truly began when he came back at Summerslam 2002 after 5 months out from an injury, his talking gimmick with only half a mask, I just think that was the end to his persona as an incredible force

Vince McMahon-I still have to think whatever writer changed this, the hornswoggle gimmick, man oh man, that was completely ruining Vinces reputation up until they changed him to really being Finlay's son, but then the ruining went from Vince on to Finlay, whose legacy is pretty much ruined because of it, but thats another story

I'd like to see what some other people thank and whose reputation or careers were pretty much ruined with one fell swoop such as a horrible match or angle

That angle didn't ruin his career, his lack of ability did. If Kane was half the owrker The Undertaker was then he wouldn't be in the slump that he's in.

Triple came out of that angle fine, after all. And he was the one involved in the skit where he fucked her in a coffin.

Vince has coped just fine. When he's next on TV he'll be just as over and great as he always is.

Most of the time if a wrestler is talented enough they can get past all the bullshit. Unless Bill Goldberg kicks you in the head, then you're toast.

Vince hasn't been ruined. He's the owner of the company and he's off tv enough to always bounce back.

The one that pops into my head was Perry Saturn and Moppy. This guy was never going to be seen as a main event level player in WWE, but he was a midcarder at least. The moppy thing was just an insult that backfired as it amazingly got over. He didnt' last long after that anyway, but the mop was pretty much the last time anyone took him seriously ever again.

Muhammed Hussan - That SD! episode with the attack on the Undertaker really ruined things for Hassan and made his move to RAW after-wards pointless.

You have to feel for Muhammad Hassan. 2005 really seemed to make his mark on WWE, with enormous heat and very good techinical skills, not to mention a good look. But when SmackDown creative did that terrorist segment (which of all things happened to be in the same week as the London bus & train bombings) and after realizing what they had done, had to kill his career with that Last Ride from Taker off the ramp was a waste of great talent. Hassan was the type of heel character that is not easy to find, and not even allowing him a chance to come back a while after that, or with a new character was a disgrace.

That and Perry Saturn. But the thing is Saturn deserved it. Go and look up the incident on Heat where he beat up a jobber in a fit of roid rage. He deserved to be stuck with that dead-end mop gimmick

I think I'm going to have to agree with the Muhammed Hassan remarks. That is probably the most clear example anyone could do. I mean at one point he was in a program with Hogan, who even though he was on a major decline was still a major star, and then all of the sudden he was gone. The whole terrorist timing was unfortunate. WWE just pushed it a little too far with what was going on, and then when more events out of there hands occurred, I suppose they just decided to scrap it.

I for one really enjoyed Hassan and think he could have had a decent career. I think if he wanted to, and WWE wanted to give it a shot, they could try another run with him.

Mark Henry. Sexual Chocolate. Mae Young. Hand.

I don't know that I really need to say more, but Mark Henry's career was, for all realistic intents and purposes, murdered with this angle. You had him having relations with a man in drag and admitting he'd done his sister. He was never realistically anywhere near Angle's title, he was filler. He was just a big man for Undertaker to destroy at Wrestlemania.

He never had much potential to begin with, really. But Sexual Chocolate killed him forever.

Since the whole Hornswoggle saga Finlay has been in World Title Matches, ECW Title Matches and was an upper-midcarder on SmackDown for a long time.

Granted this push came too late in his career and I doubt the old boy could keep up the work schedule but I think Horny was good for him (and I hate Hornswoggle).

Angles that ruined careers, well I dont think Mike Awesome had much luck but we all know about that dont we.
Hell in a Kennel comes to mind, thats an angle and a match rolled into one, I am not sure if many would say it killed Al Snow/Bossman's careers but I cant remember them doing much afterward and at the time I really liked Al Snow and thought the Bossman was a great heel enforcer.

Well I think Jake hinted at it. The Match that ruined a great career, and has left a lot of fans wishing the hands of time would revert is the day Brt Hart was kicked in the head by Goldberg. It ruined one of the best careers ever in preofessional wrestling. Although WCW did go down the toilet in a few years to come, they did so without one of the bests in the ring. He has stated according to the main site that he does not have the strength to appear in the ring anymore. Imagine if he did, and with his truce with WWE, there could be that One Last Match.

I'm surprized no one has brough up Blue Blazer. If not for this pathetic gimmick, Owen wouldn't have had to descend from the rafters, which means the outcome wouldn't have happened either. Just another kick in the groin from WWE to the Hart family.

Another one that comes to mind is Eugene. From what I heard, Dinsmore was a fantastic wrestler in OVW, and had the potential to be a standout star when making his debut on the main roster, and what did they do? They turned him into a man-child with a mental handicap.
