Championship Contender
After seeing super raw and smackdown, i've noticed something. Even though punk was on neither of the main events, he was still was the main focus of each show. And when cena and del rio were scheduled to face off at night of champions, i thought that would be the focus(not because del rio is the champion, but because he is facing cena.) But cena, even though he is fighting for the wwe championship, seems to be knocked down a peg. At least to me it seems like the wwe championship match at night of champions is just a intercontinental championship match, and that triple h vs. punk is going to be the main event. Is it just me?

Del Rio wasn't on Raw, was he? I think he had probs with his visa or something.

I do think Punk/HHH is the real main event though so far

Maybe Vince finally sees Punk as an exciting sustainable talent, possibly capable of being the top guy (or at least a top guy). Plus any angle the has Triple H and Kevin Nash is going to get plenty of time. Cena is the top draw in the biz, and that's not changing, so its past time he's booked to help other guys get over (Del Rio should go over Cena at NoC, it won't be clean of course, but still...)

Or maybe it's the fact that Del Rio wasn't on RAW to hype his match with Cena so they used that time to build up their other important match (HHH vs Punk). I wouldn't say Punk is the focus. I'd say Punk benefited from working with Cena and now he is benefitng from working with Triple H and Nash. Although he's working with these guys he still has yet to prove he's on any of their level as far as being a long term impact player goes.

Think about it. If you had a guy like CM Punk would you want to throw him all out there in the first couple months? Or would you give the people a little at a time and make him a sustainable top guy? At first I wondered what the hell was going on. How the hell are they gonna allow Del Rio to cash in on Punk at this juncture? Then Triple H comes into play and Kevin Nash and then it all makes sense. Why not continue to build him up? Maybe this is leading towards something bigger. Something like maybe a Punk v. Austin match at WM28?
That topic has been run into the ground I'm sure but lately the WWE writers have actually been doing some good things so I have full faith in what they are doing with Punk whether it leads to Austin or not.

Yes, you are right, I also think so that HHH Vs CM Punk will be the greatest match ever in Night Of Champions

One thing I noticed that the fans of CM Punk is increasing day by day with gradually increasing haters of John Cena,,, which is very very bad...:suspic:

while people may say del rio wasnt on raw to hype up his match i still say CM Punk and anything he does right now is THE HOTTEST STORYLINE GOING! im sure some of you dont like punk (dont worry he doesnt like you either :lmao:) but right now CM Punk is the hottest person in the business everybody is wondering what hes gonna do next, what hes gonna say next and his storyline is getting the most interest and its been tht way ever sense he cut tht amazing promo on the stage while wearing a stone cold shirt

My thoughts exactly. Sure, he wasn't in the main event, but on Super SD, he had 15 minutes with HHH, and was on raw several times.

It seems to me that The Brass sees Punk as a viable money maker for the company now after MiTB and the ""shoot"" promo he did. He's definitely a focus now, although Del Rio couldn't appear so Cena had to rely on his ...ahem... mic skills to promote the feud.

The thing that may concern WWE is the fact that Punk has had absolutely no positive effect on the ratings or PPV buyrates since his renewed push. MiTB ended up coming in at 185k buys, which isn't strong by any stretch of the imagination - then, on Raw last week, Punk-Miz, the 2 guys they've tried to get over to the top level as hard as anybody else LOST viewers in a timeslot that pretty much always gains viewers.

So, plenty of food for thought for WWE. Do they keep the push of Punk going or have HUNTER put the brakes on it at NOC?

actually money in the bank doing 20% more is great especially since this is second year.
Usually when you do a gimmick ppv the second year is less due to the audience now having seen the gimmick once.

I've got to disagree with you there. Any PPV that WWE puts on that draws less than 200k buys should be considered a disappointment. Bearing in mind the hype that MiTB had going in with the Punk angle, I'd say they were very disappointed with 185k when they found out.

The focus is on punk right now because Punk is drawing in the viewers and the money right now....
He is the missing piece of the puzzle, a reason for people who hate John Cena to watch WWE again and like it. And with that still show plenty of John Cena to keep the Cena fans happy.
Cena will consistently make money for the WWE as long as he is still presented as the top guy, and whilst CM punk is portrayed as the joint holder of "Top Guy" status the other half of the WWE universe will also buy in.

The WWE is on an uphill slope, and they are doing it without jeopardising their biggest asset which is John Cena.
It is absolute Genius and long may it last.
