Albums you've never quite understood the critique of

Has Returned.
I've always wondered, why does people think ... album is so absolutely awful? certainly it can be argued that "oh noes it's not the same style.. trash material!"
But I must admit there's albums, although they certainly aren't the greatest thing the band or artist can put out, I will argue that it sucks.

Good examples would have to be:

Eminem_-_Encore.jpg

Eminem's 4th album, has been victim of above mentioned critique that highly focused on the fact that his lyrics were toned down when it comes to talking smack, while I do absolutely agree it wasn't the harsh Eminem we've seen in albums like The Marshal Mathers LP and the crazed obviously Slim Shady material filled Slim Shady LP, but I fail to see the hatred towards this album, seeing as it's produced some of Eminem's greater songs (in my opinion) such as "Mockingbird" and "Like toy soldiers"

Another odd choice (again, in my opinion, reply if you want yours across, thank you.)

Metallica_-_St._Anger.jpg

Metallica's St. Anger (in case you didn't know)
While it's highly thought of as one of the worst Metallica if not THE worst Metallica album by many fans, while I do again agree, it's not the greatest thing they've ever put forth, I still think think it produced some fair songs, such as "Some kind of monster".

So now it's your time, let me hear your thoughts either on my choices, or albums you like but remain hated by the majority of the artist's fans.

Ok well sorry but I absolutely despise St. Anger. I despise anything Metallica has put out since like 96. I guess one for me would be Rebirth from Lil Wayne. I fucking hate him so very much, but I cant help but love this entire album. the track with Eminem titled "Drop the World" is amazing. I have heard a lot of hate from all the sheep who think Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive. Lmao. The second he starts to stray away from the overall bullshit mainstream sound, he gets hate. At least he has the testicles to try something new.

I do agree with you that Eminem's Encore album is underrated. It has some bad songs on it, however it does contain some of his best songs too. Evil Deeds, Like Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird, and Crazy In Love. All of these songs more than make up for the bad songs on the album. It isn't as bad of a cd as some people claim it is. The fact does remain though that it isn't as good as The Eminem Show, and nowhere near as good as The Marshall Mathers LP.

St Anger I will have to agree to disagree with you on. I find it to be the worst Metallica album because I don't care for any song on it, not even one. I might be a bit biased against it because I agree with their fans who said that everything after The Black Album sucked. Their old stuff was great, so was The Black Album. I didn't care for Load, Re-Load, or St Anger. Death Magnetic wasn't that great either.

Now for the album that I don't understand the critique of, 50 Cent's Curtis. I thought it was just as good as his previous 2 cd's. I don't get why people didn't like it. It's an underrated album that didn't deserve the negative reviews that some people gave it because every song on it has a great beat and Ayo Technology has to be one of his best ever.

I was actually skeptical of getting it because everyone was saying it was shit, I listened to a few songs and thought it's not to bad maybe it's just a couple of tracks, I listened to the whole thing and thought it was really good the lyrics had more meaning to them than previous albums. My theory is Dave Navarro's input changed the style of the music from the funk-rock that the Peppers were famous for and people weren't ready for change.

I'll back you up on St. Anger. I thought it wasn't a bad album, it was actually one of the better original albums they had put out since The Black Album. It was a lot better than Load and Reload. I don't think I really like any of the songs on Load and I thought it was terrible. ReLoad was a little better I guess, as it featured The Unforgiven II which was a great track as well as a personal favourite of mine called The Memory Remains.

St Anger was thrashy, with all the songs going together with very little gaps or holes in the album. Yeah it was a step away from other music, but it still worked. And its better than Death Magnet, so I cant tell the hatred for it.
