Against All Odds: Abyss vs. Matt Morgan

Abyss vs. "The Blueprint' Matt Morgan

I'm not surprised by the announcement of this match on the TNA website, since I haven't seen iMPACT yet. But I obviously am aware that Abyss was attacked by Matt Morgan last week in a swerve that I did see coming. I'm not a fan of either men, but I do prefer Matt Morgan over Abyss. And Morgan was a heel when he debuted in TNA (at least I think he was), but he turned face for a few months, did nothing of notice except for teaming with Abyss in a lackluster tag team, and now he's back to being a heel.

Abyss is just boring to me, and I can't understand why they didn't turn him heel instead, but this is TNA so I guess I'm forced to live with it. Morgan is obviously the guy to push here, and I think he will get a clean victory over Abyss. I think this feud could actually last a few more pay per views, as I don't see the point of having their tag team broken up just to have one lousy match. Speaking of lousy matches, I don't expect this to be a good match either. The same can go for a majority of matches on the card.

What are your thoughts on this match? Are you glad the tag team is finally broken up? Please discuss your thoughts in here.

Abyss is almost always going to be over in TNA while Morgan is still trying to find his niche. Based on thsi there's no reason to put Abyss over Morgan in this case. He's the younger guy with more to gain in the company right now. The match was beyond easy to see coming as these two were pretty much made to be split up for this match. I would think it should ahve gone on a bit longer, but that's TNA booking for you. It'll wind up with a gimmick match, likely at Lockdown, with Morgan more or less dominating the whole way, beating Abyss in "his" match.

There is no justifiable reason for me to believe this match will end in anything other than a No Contest, with both men getting DQ'd, or simply the match just never ending, as both brawl backstage.

Klunder's right. Abyss, be it the Monster version, or the Virgin version, is obviously always going to be over in T.N.A. If the fans aren't gonna turn on him for being a pussy with emotions, then they'll likely never turn on him.

Meanwhile, Matt Morgan needs that one defining moment in his career still, to set him apart from a failure. While I still fully believe he'll end up being a failure, I do see him defeating Abyss in the future. Just not in this match. I can't see a winner at all in this match, because this match has rules. And this feud is specifically designed for weapons to find their way in.

Too soon. TNA should keep this for LockDown!, both of them have talent, Abyss has already proven that he can be a main-event caliber wrestler, Morgan didn't. So why don't wait a few more weeks and make the match mean something more?

No, they will do the same all over again, Morgan beats him at Against All Odds, Abyss seeks revenge and wins it, end of the feud, Morgan looks bad as hell and Abyss doesn't look better.

TNA, for christ's sake, stop giving us matches that, at least for me, I want to see but with some hype around it, not just a random tag team partner against each other, it has been done so many times over and over again that it doesn't mean almost a thing, so try to add something else to the match, let them feud together for a few more weeks, doing promos, backstage interviews with Morgan so he can improve his character.

And also give Morgan a true finisher, not a finisher that A-Train could do, if Albert could with his size, Morgan should not do it, he should do something more imprevise, the Torture Rack for example.

I agree with The Crazy One, they needed to give this feud a tad bit more build up. We all saw the attack, and it seems the match was announced immediately after that, they should have Abyss express his feelings on the attack, talk about he was betrayed by his best friend and blah blah, then have him officially challenge him you know get the fan really involved.

Anyway with that being said, this match will be a pretty good match, two monsters going at it. I see Abyss picking up the win on this one which really doesn't help anyone, but does see the resurrection of the old monster Abyss that we've all wanted back so badly. I would much rather see Morgan win this match, he needs that one match that soldifies him as a threat to the roster.

I'd do want to see more than one match in this feud.

I for one am glad that the team split up cause Matt Morgan & soft Abyss just weren't good as a team. I say this feud will be stretched out for a couple more pay per views. I think that their match at against all odds will end in a no contest.

Man oh man, how I wish this was a "Loser Leaves Town" match. I can't stand Matt Morgan and, the sooner he fails in TNA like he did in WWE, the better. This match, in my opinion, will suck, because Abyss only shines in hardcore matches and Matt Morgan fails at everything he does. While they probably could get a two or three month feud out of this (given that Morgan and Abyss were in a tag team for almost five months), I really hope this is a one-off match and they make Morgan a third member of the Rock 'n' Rave Infection; since he deserves to be nothing more than a jobber, I'm pretty sure he'll fit in fine with Lance Rock and Jimmy Rave.

And, although I am normally not this ruthless when it comes to criticizing a wrestler, I must say that, oh yes, I just went there.

Brought to you by The Committee For TNA Making Matt Morgan This Generation's Iron Mike Sharpe.

Now this is a match that i flat out don't get. Why did Abyss need this win? The crowd was chanting for Morgan the whole match and they have him lose clean? Why? One good thing does come out of this: there's no logical reason for this feud to continue. Abyss wins clean, but of course that means two more months of these two, likely culminating at Lockdown. Why continue here? Why put Morgan down clean? This match was too long, it didn't need the weapons, and the ending made no sense. In other words, it was a quintessential TNA match.
