Administrator Applications

Excellence of Execution
Klunkerbunker:

I should be the next admin here for many reasons.

1. I am here a lot. As you more than likely know, it is in no way normal for me to not be on here at least once a day. I would be an admin that is here on a very regular basis.

2. I would be the admin that drives discussion. As NWS mod, I posted regularly in all sections assigned to me, primarily in the bar room where I made the largest thread on the forums (at the time). Other than music and VG&T, I regularly post in nearly all sections, primarily wrestling and old school. I am also in every Impact, NXT, Raw and PPV LD on a weekly basis.

3. I have brought people to the forums. Based on my number of referrals, 8, there have been a relatively high number of people that have come here and listed me as a reason, meaning that what I do is appealing to people that are lurking.

4. I tend to be easy to get along with. Only on very rare occasions have I gotten into prolonged arguments or feuds with others here. Most posters seemingly have no issue with my methods or skills.

5. I know a lot about wrestling. Simply put, my knowledge of wrestling can rival anyone on the forums, bar none. While I may not be the best, I am certainly one of them.

6. Staff endorsements. Both FTS and Becca as well as possibly others have made claims I should be an admin here. Based on this, it would be implied that I have earned the respect of my peers on the forums and not just random bar flies.

These are the main reasons you should pick me for admin.

HBK-aholic:

Hiya

I’m actually very shocked you’re doing this; I’m reminded of the regular poster for admin prank...

But, I shall bite. I’ve been a mod for almost 2 years now, (And if we can admin Luther for that... ) which, on its own is quite an achievement considering how many mods we seem to go through. You asked people not to say they ‘love’ the forum, but I legitimately do; even when I post in the staff away thread to say I’ll be busy with other things, I still end up getting on the forum. Speaking of which, IC decided on a bad time to step down for me, ha. Being in my last months of college have meant a lot less time posting and infracting as I have previously done. However I leave in 3 weeks, so, with my lack of a real life, imagine how much time I shall be here then

I think I’d be great as an admin here. I’m not going to pretend I know a whole lot about the admin CP or technical issues – but, as you said, you’re not looking for an admin to do the same things you can do, so I’ll hope that won’t be as big of an issue as first thought. I think I’ve shown I can keep a cool head in the Board Room, and complaint thread; that I can be a good leader and firm with my thoughts. I’ve rarely, if ever, had infractions I’ve given reversed by you/IC (Apart from yours, which, let’s face it, doesn’t really count I should probably be sucking up to you now, but eh, that’s just not me, you deserved my infraction damnit ) Anyway, that shows I understand your spamming rules, and have rarely given incorrect opinions on what will happen to other infractions.

I also tend to stay away from the drama that people seem to get wrapped up in, which affects their modding and judgement skills. Sidious is a key example of this. I was never involved in one of the hundreds of arguments with him, and instead either ignored or tried to handle the situation calmly. He wasn’t always to blame for the arguments either, meaning there are some moderators who went after him on order to start things – hardly qualities you’d like in an admin, I’m sure. I was also able to separate Sidious the attitude with Sidious the moderator – something which can’t be said for many. For the only girl on the team, I can act more unemotional than most of the grown men!

On Board Room issues, I always take the time to look at both sides of an issue and have no problem in disagreeing with a judgement – not a bad thing. I’d have no problem attempting to step into ICs huge shoes, he was my mod mentor after all, when I was first made a mod. I’d happily take over his role on the forum, and even the main page if the need is there.

Of course, the most important reason you should admin me is for the sheer impossibility this sounded like just over a year ago. Slyfox and HBK-aholic.

Mighty Norcal

I'm not gonna go too far into justifying why i think I would be great for the new ADMIN spot, as im sure you are well aware of everything, IE, that I have been here forever, have been on staff forever, and have a pretty good feel for these forums, the people on them, and how to take care of them.

I feel like you and I would make a fantastic team, for the most part. You know I prefer the discussion and "man of the people" more than I do a technical role, and that is what I would be more involved with. I feel like you and I have never had any major issues, or philisophical drama, and feel like our attitudes and combined leadership abilities stemming from our lives outside the forum would be by far the best combination out of anyone else. Obviously I have always thought I could work damn well with you, hence me having a three day tooth and nail argument with the rest of the staff to get you ON the staff in the first place.

I know in the past I have been thought of as being a bit too rash, or emotional, and that is likely justified. However, I feel as if I have mellowed out a TON since coming home and back to the forum. I also feel like even before I left, you and I could always come to a logical, productive conclusion when having things to discuss. I trust you, and your judgement, and that is why. Not saying we will never disagree as ADMINS, but I feel like things will always stay pretty short, and productive.

Im not going to lie and say I have this, this, and this thought up as things to do for the forum. We both know I have never been a big fan of all the gimmicky games around here, more about straight up productive discussion. I do, and have had many ideas in the past though, such as the vintage video section, Live Discussions for all shows (no seriously, I started that, we used to do RAW only) and the Fantasy Wrestling League. So I am not devoid of such things.

I am not into putting others down, and saying why I would be better. I feel like that is cheap, and I feel like I should gain the things I have on my own merit, not the lack of merit of others, and thats just how I am....the only thing I will say is....I just dont see anyone else (even the top canidates)...uh, actually DO very much...Im sure you know better than me though.

Obviously, me being sent away again can be a huge knock against me, and I totally understand that. Trust me, its something I deal with on a day to day basis in the development of ANY sort of relationships, so its nothing new.

Thanks for the consideration man, and keep up the good work. How great of a job you have done is another big mark on my track record of knowing what im talking about around here

Lee

What IC did best was make steps forwards on how to improve the forum across the board, things we saw were ideas such as the Olympics, we've seen debate leagues and a much better attitude across the the entire board. Sadly his time has come to an end =( What would Lee as admin bring?

Experience: With pretty much an admin role in WZCW I took it from the brinks to something that is really coasting now.

Discussion: I discuss across the board with Wrestling sections/NWS and the spam zones.

Respect: I feel I am quite a respected member of the forums, with very few people having a problem with me. In turn I have been a mentor to Phoenix/Dave and Ty who have done great work in the fed and accross the board in both discussion and modding.

Modding: I infact/warn/clean up/merge/trash in every area of the forum. Mod of the year 2009

Work with the current Admin: As you know I speak to you quite a bit on MSN, you took a chance with me on mod, P-mod and G-Mod. All in all a good working relationship between the two of us.

Choices: I would assume that the best choices for admin would be one of the four G-mods. Without any loss of respect I feel I would be in the role than the other competitors. Becca rarely discusses on the board, X seems very distant with the forum recently and lastly we know that you and KB have had your spats (even though practically he may do as good a job as me).

Changes: The major problem with the forum is getting the mix of the spammyness of newbs and the way regulars act with said newbs. My main proposal would be to relax the spam rules further, this in turn would lead to more discussion as well as more people joining (using stereotypes, most spammy newbs are 14/15ish who in turn are those most likely to recommend the forum.

Another thing is to continue the working relationship with the main site, as has been done wth IC in the past. I don't need to say how much traffic comes to the main site, so working together would do well.

Also I propose an attempt at the columns section once again, I feel there are a lot of posters who would like to do a blog type post with maybe the best one going on the main site every week?

Yeah that's what I have.

What can I add to the Administrator position?

I feel like I could fill the void IC left, as far as driving discussion is concerned. Now, I’m not the best topic starter, but I do my fair share of posting, especially in the Non-Wrestling Sections and in the tourneys. However, for the past couple of months my level of interest in pro wrestling has severely died down and I haven’t posted much on it outside of the WZ Tourney, but if made Admin I promise that would change (it’ll probably change anyway, as I usually go a couple months of not caring about it and then all of the sudden falling right back in love with the sport).

Besides that, you would be able to count on me to be fair and professional, and also lend a helping hand in anything you ask. Whether it’d be name changes, uploading avatars, making sub-forums… whatever. I would not slack at any of these things if you made it my responsibility to do it all.

Also, I know I haven’t been the best about Infractions, but that’s been mostly because my section hardly gets any posts that are Infraction worthy, and personally… I believed in Lord Sidious’ philosophy of staying out of other people’s sections. However, as Admin, I would definitely do more infracting and cleaning up than I have as a Section Mod. And not just my first week on the job, but for as long as I am Administrator.

Why am I a better candidate than others on staff?

I personally feel that I am the one person on staff nobody has a problem with. When was the last time you’ve seen me in a heated argument with someone? When was the last time you saw me blow up about a certain situation? I keep out of other people’s business, and I don’t step on any toes. Because of this, plus my general politeness, I don’t think you’ll find a single person on this forum who would have anything negative to say about me as a poster or as a person.

There are a few people at this forum that I really don’t care for at all, but you’ll never see me pull childish stunts like calling those people out or anything like that. Plus, you could still trust me to keep an unbiased position on any situation involving any poster(s) and never play favorites.

The bottom line is, in my opinion, I’m in the discussion of being the most level headed person on staff. Phoenix is really the only other person I can think of who’s like myself and stays out of pointless, unnecessary bullshit, while at the same time... I feel like I’m a more active and all around better poster than him.

What changes would I make to the forum?

Personally, I don't think there needs to be any serious changes made at this point in time, at least... changes that are in the realm of possibility. There's honestly nothing that comes to mind at this moment, but you would definitely be able to trust me to look at every idea someone on staff presents with an open mind. That's all I can promise at this point.

Final Thoughts:

I know I’ve just been nothing more than a Section mod since joining staff last July, but I’m very proud of what I’ve done with the MMA Section since getting control of it, considering the lack of MMA fans we have here at WZF. I have been able to keep the section as active and clean as possible. In my opinion, nobody has done more for a single section than I have the MMA Section.

What I have done with the MMA Section, and the fact that I’ve always presented myself in a professional manner since joining WZF, I feel that should make me one of the better, more worthy candidates applying for the Administrator position. With me you’re guaranteed someone who will post actively, and stay fair and professional with every situation that arises. Moreover, Sly... we don’t know each other on a personal level, but I think for the most part we’ve always gotten along pretty well, and I sincerely believe that we would make a solid, cohesive team.

When you put all these elements together, I personally feel that it should assure you I would make a good co-Administrator.

And that's that. Thank you for listening and giving me an opportunity to apply for the position.

xfear

So I know you don't want bullshit or empty promises, so I won't give you any of that. I wasn't even 100% sure if I should apply, but I have confidence that if I were to obtain the position that I could perform the job as well as IC or other previous admins did. As for what I would want to do in that role, I know you want to stay in your current tech role, so I'd likely focus on driving discussion, specifically in the sections that seem to be receiving the least amount of it, such as the Music/Movies & TV/International/Indy sections. I've been following just about every major and many indy promotions in the world thus far this year for my match ratings thread/blog, so I'm pretty up to date with current events in wrestling.

Another possible idea might be to expand the wrestling media thread that we have in the VIP section. Like I said before, I've got an absurd amount of wrestling on several different HDs as well as my DVD collection so I could put more effort into that thread and uploading content for the VIP members to enjoy.

Another thing I believe I have in my favor is the amount of time that I spend on the forum in general, apart from a few days I missed over the last few weeks because of work I've been online atleast once daily, usually more, so I'd be able to handle alot of the things that you might not want to or that may take place when you aren't online (It seems you prefer coming on during the night time anyways).

I know there are a few other people most definitely deserving of this job title on staff, so I know whoever gets this position will likely do a damn good job. I also like to think I'm pretty good with the technical side of things as well.

I know I can be rather short-tempered and prone to being angry sometimes, but I like to think that I've worked on that quite a bit over my time here on WZ and I will continue to work to control my temper when in heated discussion.

Overall, I just feel I could definitely do this job, hence this PM. Whoever you choose I'm sure will do a good job regardless though. Thanks for the time to read this Sly, hope I covered everything you wanted covered.

D-Man

Hey Sly.

So, I don't need to tell you that I'm the new kid on the block. After all, from what I heard, you were one of the guys that was a big supporter of yours truly for a moderator’s position. Once again, for that, I thank you. And even though I may be a long-shot for this position, I'd like to submit my application, anyway.

Now, being a newer mod doesn't necessarily mean that I am inexperienced in these forums, which I'm sure you would attest to. But regardless of any experience that I lack, since day one, I've made myself a student of what we do here. Just like any newer poster, I've had my share of mistakes. But I made sure that I learned from those mistakes, corrected them, and improved that area of my posting abilities.

One of the major things I have learned over the past 16 months is that nothing is more important for the growth of this site than knowing, understanding, following, and executing our rules. Like I stated in my recent Sticky threads in my sections, posting threads is the nucleus of our forums. But posting brilliant ideas and discussions have little to no meaning if they do not follow the rules and standards that we cherish so dearly. Without those rules, we wouldn't have the reputation that we've built as being one of (if not THE) best wrestling forum on the internet.

We set our standards high for our posters and choosing our staff should be no different. In my eyes, someone that takes an admin position should be a person who has set the bar higher for everyone working beneath them. They must be an expert on everything from a poster's knowledge of our rules and standards to personal knowledge of things such as proper grammar and their level of patience for other users. (Not to sound like a brown-noser, but a perfect example can be taken from you and IC in those departments. Both of you have endless amounts of patience, both of you are masters of the rulebook, and both of you have impeccable grammar and clarity in your posting, the way that you delegate responsibility, and the ways that you get your points across to all members... including our foreign members who use English as their second language.)

I believe I can be a very strong counterpart as an administrator. Aside from believing in using exceptional communication skills (in the forms of above-par grammar, clarity of my points, and cleanliness of my threads and posts), I'm naturally the type of person that just enjoys helping others.

One of the duties that I have the pleasure of executing at my place of business is being the head trainer of all new employees in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Over the past five years, I have trained dozens of new members of our staff. With each new training, I discovered something new about the learning methods of different types of individuals. Some absorb information quicker, some absorb it slower, some with ease, and some have more difficulty. But I need to adjust and have patience with everyone, despite their flaws or unique mannerisms. At the end of the day, I am their lifeline for learning their duties and executing their jobs to the best of their abilities. I feel that on this forum, I can execute the same patience, understanding, and expertise that should be required of an administrator.

As for my competition, it is very difficult for me to separate myself from the pack. I say this not because I do not feel I could execute my duties in the position better than they can, but more because I do not know them well enough to discover many of their weak points. However, I will say this: I feel that I have exceptional skills as a writer, much more patience with new and existing posters than most of the other brethren on our staff, and motivation to learn my duties and execute them to the best of my ability.

Lastly, I'm sure this position requires leadership and teamwork. I am very familiar with both of these characteristics, considering that I am the manager of a sales team at my day-job. My focus is to find any and all weak points in our team, fix them, and improve them to keep our well-oiled machine running, full speed ahead. I do not see many differences between my day job and being an administrator on our forum. I understand that they are two completely different fields, but the skills and requirements are one in the same. Using my leadership skills, I can do my best to fill the void that IC left as your right hand to lead the discussion areas of the forum. I am a "sponge" by nature in which I love to learn new things, especially in regards to something I'm passionate about. Just knowing that I may have the opportunity to fill the shoes of one of my real-life best friends motivates me to do everything humanly possible to exceed your expectations and requirements as an admin. In addition, I'm confident that I will always have his (as well as your) support in all aspects of the position at all times, thus making me a more accessible and better suited candidate.

In closing, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read this message and for all of your support since I've come on board. You've really helped me in more ways than you know. Regardless of whether I am chosen for this position or not, I will always do my best to be a great support system for you and the rest of the staff on Wrestlezone. But I have one request of you... if it's not too much trouble, I'd just like to hear your feedback in regards to this "application." I'm just very curious about your opinions on me after reading it.

Regards,
D-Man

Phoenix

Probably the first time that's been uttered on this forum, but going by your request to see me apply for at least experience purposes.

Right firstly what would make me different to any other applicant? Firstly, I'm not a person who's branded as the "IT" crowd which serves a better purpose in some form. Given where current G-Mods and Mods have at least 3 years experience of the forum, I am only at least a year in; a fresher mind gives a much more open view on what could benefit the forum to where others may see it as clockwork.

As an individual, I'm easy going, I talk to people about subjects that matter and always provide a friendly means of support to forum members, whether they are in the fed or not, people see me as a trustworthy individual and I do my best to please, I may try and be by the book but it's better to understand how things rather than to assume them.

I feel being an admin would help me reach my potential as well as adding to the forum, while I am affected by a working lifestyle, I do spend a bunch of my time on here, granted there's a quite a mystery about myself, but that makes being an admin easier, it's not about my personal life being on the forums but the fact I can interact, assist and debate with anyone and not get involved with personal problems on the forum front.

What I do to the benefit the forum? Well it's currently running at its peak but that is what being a partner to you is, deciding on improving a great forum further. I would certain like to encourage more coalition with the main site but also to try and create a more friendly way of getting newcomers in with the possibility of having a newbie section, a simple place where they can get to be better acquainted with the rules before going straight out there and being infracted out of the place before you can say "I hate Hornswoggle".

I would see this position as being an apprentice position where I will support your decisions and you can discuss ideas that I may have. You have better experience but with a good partnership that we can create, we could make Wrestlezone even better than it is. Even if I'm not chosen for this position, I would like to be able to gain more experience towards that position and fulfil my potential.

Thank you for your time.
