"Accidental" illegal knee to grounded opponent by Bisping

Rivera was talking mad shit before the match and as you guys know from the interview after, Bisping was amazingly butt hurt. I don't think Rivera was really serious about all the trash talk though. I think he was just trying to hype up the match so people would buy the PPV.

Bisping went a little too far and you can tell that it was intentional because the fucker hesitated before the knee. It's as clear as day that it wasn't an accident.

If he was gonna knee a downed opponent, he might as well have stomped on his head afterwards or soccer kicked his cranium. God, I miss Pride.

He is just like Wes Sims and Paul Daley...... A cheap shot fighter who deserves daily ass kickings. It is as plain as day that he purposely decided to knee Rivera. He was thinking revenge for the "Michael Bisping is a dick" song.

Michael Bisping's Checklist:
Be a cunt. Check.
Talk shit. Check.
Understand that an illegal knee will only dock you a point in one round. Check.
Throw an illegal knee to a downed opponent (He'll never know what hit him). Check.
Stand around impatiently and arrogantly in way that says "Get up! It was only a straight knee right to your forehead". Check.
Knock out an already weakened and woozy opponent who had no reason to enter back into the match. Check.
Claim it was an accident and that the other guy started it. Check and Mate.

In other news, Bisping is fucking cunt.

Moments after he stopped Jorge Rivera on second-round punches in the UFC 127 co-main event on Sunday in Sydney, Australia, Bisping (Pictured) appeared to spit in the direction of his vanquished foe’s cornermen. His actions -- which also included face-to-face taunts at Rivera -- drew the immediate ire of Rivera’s handlers at Alchemist MMA.

“For all his talk of being a professional, Bisping spit on Rivera’s coaches when the fight was over,” an Alchemist statement read. “How can you claim to be professional after that?”

In a post-fight interview with MMAFighting.com, Bisping claimed he spit on the canvas directly in front of Rivera’s boxing coach, Matt Phinney, not at any individual. Those claims fell on deaf ears inside the Rivera camp. Rivera’s manager, Lex McMahon, called for “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 winner to be punished and possibly fined and suspended for his actions.

Bad blood had built exponentially between Rivera and Bisping in the weeks leading up to their bout, as the two middleweights ramped up their rhetoric in pre-fight interviews.

“He was very insulting toward me. He was mocking me on the Internet, talking about myself and my family. But it built up inside me, and I blew up a little bit, so I apologize,” Bisping said during the post-fight press conference. “[The videos] definitely motivated me and made me work harder. Trash talk is part of the game, and I let it get to me too much. But I’m an emotional guy. Everything that comes out of my mouth comes from my heart. I am who I am. He embarrassed me, mocking me all over the world. But I should have been the better man and taken that on the chin a little better.”

Their apparent dislike for one another was only enhanced in the first round, when Bisping landed a brutal illegal knee to the head of the downed Massachusetts native, nearly resulting in a premature stoppage. Rivera decided to remain in the fight, perhaps to his detriment. Bisping ultimately put him away in the second round, as he battered him with punches and knees against the cage. A final volley sent Rivera to one knee, and the referee intervened.

“The knee was illegal and flush on the face,” the Alchemist MMA statement read, “but instead of taking a dive and possibly the win, Jorge fought on. Bisping tagged Jorge while both of his knees were on the canvas. He wasn’t the same afterward but fought on anyway. How many fighters would be able to fight on after that? The stoppage was quick, but we won’t fight it. [Bisping] won. That’s all there is to it.”

Some have called the knee intentional. Bisping denied such claims.

“The knee certainly wasn’t on purpose,” he said. “He was getting up off the ground, and I pulled the trigger too early. It happens a lot. This is a fast-moving sport. No one wants to see a fight won or lost in that fashion.”

Make your mind up cheap shot merchant!!

A lot of people's passionate hatred towards Michael Bisping is quite entertaining if I'm honest, because it's so strong.

Bisping does give Koscheck a run for his money. Difference is I've heard that Kos is a very nice person in real life and have yet to hear one good thing about Bisping in his personal life. Doesn't mean he isn't a nice guy outside of the UFC just that I haven't heard anything.

Nah, here's part of a story from a Brit at another board I frequent. This took place at the end of January of this year.

Then, to my utter fucking shock, Bisping arrived... it was pandemonium. Right in front of me. I filmed a BW fighter huggin him that I'd made mates with, and told him (Bisping) "you're polarising, but I love ya". Then after 20 straight minutes of smiling for pics and being mobbed, he and Ricco Rodriguez sat behind me on the stage. I turned and had some small talk with him every now and again, like when some twat gave him shit. Bisping absolutely burned him, but in a funny, not cocky way.

So, they cheer on their boy, Mike gets mobbed again, and eventually he leaves. I was the only one in the whole building not to get a pic with him. He has more patience than anyone I've ever seen - and people say he's cocky! Walk a mile in his shoes, bitches.

So, Bisping's obviously not a dick to fans, at least, which to me says a lot about his personality.

People have to remember that one of Rivera's videos said something about Bisping's wife... I think most would have taken that shit personally and 'crossed the line' come fight time. Besides, imo what Bisping did after the fight was no worse than what Lesnar did when he beat Mir.

I'm going to weigh in on this just like I did in the MMA forums section while addressing some of the same points.

1. Brocks post fight antics did not include spitting on other individuals. Brock's post fight antics involved him dissing a sponsor, putting his wife's vaginal activities on public notice, and talking more shit to Frank Mir. None of which are even CLOSE to spitting on another man.

2. Henderson's shot was not "unnecessary." You might not have liked it and it certainly wasn't needed, but you fight until the ref tells you to stop. From a Unified Rules of MMA standpoint, Henderson was well within his rights to throw that shot. That being said, Henderson has also not fought for the UFC since that fight, so.....point is moot. He was basically "suspended" for his actions because Dana refused to sign him and Hollywood had to wait out the "no fight" portion of his UFC contract.

3. I have absolutely no idea what knee you guys are looking at, but Rivera was in no way, shape, or form on his way up. Unless you think he was going to leap up and jump to his feet, I don't know what people are looking at. Usually people get up one foot at a time. Rivera was squatting. Timed it wrong, my ass. Rivera was two moves away from that move even being legal.

4. He celebrated while Rivera was being examined by doctors and refs. Seriously? An illegal blow by you to another fighter and you celebrate?

5. I don't remember who said it, but who ever said that Henderson's punch was more harmful than Bisping's knee has absolutely no clue what they are talking about. While both are harmful, Bisping's knee had the capacity to be much more harmful that Henderson's punch. The knee is a much more compact and solid set of bones being delivered to the most fragile part of our bodies. Not to mention the fact that Bisping had Rivera in a Thai plum preventing his head from displacing any of the blow. There's a reason they allow you to punch your opponent in the head when he's on the mat, but you cannot throw knees to a downed opponent.

EDIT: I realized who made the post and JMT most certainly does know what he's talking about...99.9% of the time, haha. Still, the knee was far more dangerous. Sorry bro, don't want to offend so I modified some of the things I said.

I'm pretty sure both sides were just far apart on the money issue. White said his asking price was more than what anyone else makes. It's not like Dana didn't want him.

I don't think Dana did want him. Henderson was 38/39 years old. Had lost 2 of his three biggest fight since returning to the UFC, the ONE he did win, against Franklin, was highly contested and some don't even feel he won. His best fights were behind him and he was never going to be the draw for the kind of money he was asking. Plus, he's sort of an asshole to deal with from what I understand.

Dana might have said "money was the issue," but I'm willing to bet that it wasn't the ONLY or most compelling issue.

There's plenty of .gifs and videos I'm sure you could find. I will never be convinced that it wasn't intentional. There's too many factors, which I've listed above, that point to this being an intentional knee.

Contrary to popular belief, Bisping isnt a cunt to his fans, he did a nightclub appearance here in November and a guest dj spot and he was a really nice guy, i spoke to him for about 5 minutes near the end of the night after getting my pic with him and he is very down to earth.Rivera spent the last 6 weeks constantly mocking him in videos(which were hilarious might i add) when he had no beef with him, he plays up to his heel persona which is very smart as he knows he is Danas cash cow over here.

I'm sure there are plenty of videos, but c'mon. It's Jorge Rivera, is it REALLY that big of a deal?

It's not the fighter, it's the act of. People were livid when Babalu intentionally held that choke on David Heath. People were also livid when Daley threw a sucker-punch at Koscheck (People fucking hate Koscheck, too, I'm one of them), and people are going to be livid at the act of celebrating after you threw a VERY DANGEROUS illegal strike at an opponent.

It's not who it is, it's what it is. I'd be pissed if he did that Ryan Seacrest.
