Ok, title basically says it all, If you are a fan of abyss then post here stating what you like him for, best storyline he has been involved in, his performances in-ring.

If you have some criticism/rants about abyss's wrestling, keep them controlled and non abusive, but you are welcome to post them here as well.

I myself am a big fan of his, and think he can follow a line very well.

Thanks!

PS Please put a @@abyss@@ at the start or end of your post to join, I will post your name on here!

Does friend of the Monster count?
I like the fact that he walks the line between face & heel, which leaves him open to feud with anyone on the roster. Plus you never know what is going to happen in his matches, barb wire, tables, combination of the 2, tacks, etc.(any and all may happen in 1 of his matches).
Best Match, so far - Barb Wire Massacre w/ Sabu
Best Storyline - I like the current storyline best, we finally get to see into his past.

hmmmm well I am a fan of Tna not really a fan of abyss i'm trashing this place jkjkjk anyways I enjoy watching abyss in the ring but I personally like sting and kurt angle but that it abyss my 3rd fav guy on tna

I'm a huge fan of Abyss' work as he can work various styles and is very malleable, regardless of his size. I never noticed in your pics that Abyss drinks bottled water? Not very dark and mysterious if you ask me. :)

He's done very well to get himself so over. There was a chance that with his gimmick he would just look like a cheap rip off. Which I suppose that was what he was originally meant to be. He's developed a really good character and his in ring work currently better's any big man I've seen and that include's Vader, Bigelow and Taker. My only problem is his reliance on thumb tack's, he uses them so often that it's just not impressive anymore. I remember the first time I saw Mick Foley got droped on some in '98, even though he had a shirt on it was still impressive.

Cheap rip-off? Of who? And really its not. His character came about during his time in Puerto Rico. I've seen some of his promo pics from that time and they actually brought someone in to paint his face(alot of detail, 4x as much as Stings) before every match. Then with that being so time consuming it switched to a mask. After hearing and seeing the history its pretty interesting to see how it has all evolved.

Oh yes, the tacks. Wildcat and I give him a hard time about the tacks all the time.

Cheap rip-off? Of who?

Kane obviously. It does'nt matter what anybody say's Abyss was concieved with Kane and Undertaker in mind. My point is that even with a less than original gimmick he's managed to become so much more than a cheap rip off.

Thats true, but if you watch kanes old ring work and promos he never came near to having the same 'monster' effect that abyss does. Kane almost seemed stupid to be honest, but abyss does put across the monster effect brilliantly.

PS I say promos - They didn't/don't actually talk but i can't think of a better way to describe it.

Damn straight. Kane has had the best theatrics and lead-in buildup out of anyone in the last decade, but it still didn't change the fact that he was and is a mediocre wrestler. The fact is simple: as Isaac Yankem, DDS and as the fake Diesel, nobody gave a rat's ass about him. Once they repackaged him correctly, the WWF audience at it up, much to my chagrin. It's not that I don't think he could be great, but he's never been fast or workable enough to warrant carrying a title. No matter how many times they've tried to re-establish his monster push...it always falls on its face. Abyss, however, can move like a cracked-out freight train and is extremely mobile for a man of his size. I don't know how old he is, but TNA had better hold onto him.

About 18 month's ago it looked like he was leaving T.N.A. I have a lot of respect for him for staying, he surley would have been put in a top big money feud with Kane and Taker had he moved.

I was very afraid during that time because he is TNA's signature big man and he could've been the same for WWE as most of their big men can't move any faster than the average nursing home patient (I'm looking at you, Mr. Jacobs). He's the kind of big man that Vince McMahon could've built the next decade or product around. He could've easily been put to fill the gap left by Kane and Undertaker's retirement. Abyss really is a diamond in the rough as he is chock-full of most of the things guys his size aren't suppose to possess. Besides, he has a series of signature moves that Kane and the Undertaker couldn't hope to execute as well. Shock Treatment, Black Hole Slam, or Abyss' charging clothesline are three of the best high impact maneuvers in the business today.

He is good but I think they should scrap this "Friendship" angle with Sting, its gonna kill his character.

Yeh he did.... So that kind of isn't going to ruin his character by throwing him around 7 foot in the air... :p

kso.

Why are we ripping on Kane..? Alright, he might not be a fast guy, but come on. Hes well over 300 pounds, and he has a lot of extra weight to haul around. Compared to Abyss, who is mostly Muscle, and naturally agile, it seems obvious that Abyss would come out on top. But Kane always finds a way, his monster angle has been the highlight of some of the best WWE moments, and the only reason I have an incling to watch Smackdown at all. When he got kicked into a flaming dumpter and burned alive, I was amazed. Regardless, this is about Abyss. I loved to watch Abyss, and I have dubbed him the Lower-Card Triple H. He always finds a way to look incredible in the ring, yet push people like Sabu, Raven and Jeff Hardy to the moon. In reality, Abyss deserved his title run, and deserves another three or four in the future.

Abyss is a good worker, and one of the best big men in the buisness today.

But the only two criticsm's i have with his work is....

He over sells moves alot and bounces around the ring, and this in my opinion adds a unrealisticness and cheapness to his sells and overall performance.

He over uses the thumbtacks....if i dont see them for the next 4/5 PPVS then i will be happy, as it adds more impact when you do see them again.

Dude. The Tacks. Oh The Tacks.
No one gets sick of Mick Foley's Barbed Wire Bat..
No one gets sick of the Dudley's tables.. Or bazooka, in one case..
No one gets sick of Ravens.. pizza cutters and shopping carts and kendo sticks..
And I doubt anyone is sick of the tacks.. I know i'm not.. and besides, its a throwback to the generation of young adults who were fed ECW by the barrel.
I personally will never get sick of the tacks. I watch Classic TNA on ESPN Clasisc every Wednesday, and it always shows good matches and pay-per-views. And the tacks fly. And I love it! You can't say that you don't, because it's human nature to love seeing someone get perminantly maimed.

It's just a difference of taste and opinion, is all. Some people enjoy his gimmick and ignore his lack of mobility and wrestling talent. I don't eat up those kinds of gimmicks and storylines so I judge him as harshly as I would the next big man I don't like. Some of the reasons you like him are also some of the same reasons others (like myself) can't stand him. I've always said that I see the potential in Glen Jacobs, but he'd need a physical overhaul in order for it to work...and at this point, he's way too old to do it. If only I could've been his trainer in 1998, we'd have a legend on our hands. Not a guy with repeated attempts at establishing his monster character after it's been bled to death. I do agree with the last part of your post, though. Anyone who can make Jeff Hardy look decent is worth at least two title runs in my book (I'm looking at you, Johnny Nitro).
