A-Roid - Do You Believe Him?

Life's A Bitch, And Then You Mosh
NO

I watched the press conference today. He read an unemotional script, unemotionally. When the script said "Pause - Wait 5 seconds - Cry", he couldn't even get a little red eyed. He's apologizing for the same reasons everyone else did.

He got caught. Plain and simple. He used the drug to up his game so he could be the best player in baseball. He was already the highest paid, and had a clause in his contract that stated that his contract could be adjusted to keep him as the highest paid player ever, in the event that someone signed a larger contract. He had a big head, and he was young and arrogant, not young and ignorant. You don't take a drug for 3 years, and not ask what it does, or how it effects your body.

He said he stopped in 2003 because the league was passing mandatory drug tests, and it's clear that he stopped so he wouldn't get caught. The only thing I believe out of all that he said, was that he only did it for those 3 seasons. It just so happens that it's the 3 seasons after he signs a humongous contract with Texas, and stopped right when he joined the Yankees. I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees knew when they got him, and asked him to stop to avoid the bad press.

His career, like the careers of Bonds, Palmeiro, Tejada, and all the others before them, are now a joke. He has a Hall Of Fame career, but should never get inducted. Cooperstown is a place for players that respected the game, and played to the best of their abilities, and were great. A-Rod disrespected the game, and cheated. Plain and simple.

Why should I have to believe him? It was his choice that he did steroids. Not ours. He is a big boy and can make his own decisions. Personally I would have loved it if he had came out and said.

"Hey, it was my choice and I wish you would respect that. Thank You"

People say it tarnishes the game of baseball. In no way does it tarnish anymore than the ongoing Steroid Investigation itself. Lets get back to playing baseball and enjoying the game like we used to. Who cares if they are on steroids, it surely didn't bother us before. Why should it now? Alex Rodriguez is the best baseball player of this era. Nothing will ever take away from that. He shouldnt have to apologize so I see no reason why I should or should not believe him.

Do i believe he is sorry....YES. Why is he sorry though, cause he got caught and is a pre-madonna(no pun intended) and needs to be catered to. If he doesnt say anything he will get his little feelings hurt all year by the media. This appology of his is a ploy to get the media off his back and make people say "ohh he's said so much more than bonds and clemens". Fact is he still did them. Now to his point about not knowing what they were or did is complete BS. If you have to fly to the Dominican Republic to obtain something you surely are gonna know atleast what it is called. His speech was pre-wrote by someone else, not even his own words, and that long pause was such bologne and a complete joke. God help if he goes 0-10 during a home stand because he will hear it and the signs will come out. As a Red Sox fan...i cant wait till he comes up to Fenway.

The only thing i'm really on his side with is that why is his name the only one that came out. It is not fair to him to be the only name released out of what 104? Its unfortunate his name came out, esp considering those documents should have been destroyed. But if you looked through those documents to find his name you surely saw other names. I'm all for getting the Juice out of the game but dont make this a Witch Hunt on only specific people.

Another real idiot in this whole thing is Bud Selig. Saying that he is thinking about taking action against A-Fraud. How? At the latest he did this in 2003. When there was no penalties. Its not like ohh well we'll make up for that suspension that he missed in 03 by suspending him in the 2009 season. Give me a break Bud Selig. Please Resign.

To sum up my thoughts i believe probably 60-70% of what A-Rod is saying but i am taking taht with a big grain of salt.

Its time to move on and for MLB to start marketing the new generation(guys who have entered the league from 2004 or 2005 and on). Guys like Chase Utley, David Wright, Ryan Braun, Grady Sizemore, and Dustin Pedroia.
