A question on precedents set by the Supreme Court.

I need to know this for a mock trial I have to do for my class (I'm a justice in it).

Does the Supreme Court have to follow the precedent they have set (I know they can overturn prior precedents, but do they have to overturn it first before they can dismiss it)?

Can a single justice choose to not follow a precedent?
