A problem

I bought a copy of Modern Warfare 2 at Gamestop not to long ago but for some reason it makes my PS3 restart about 5 seconds after i turn it on. No freezing or anything like that it just restarts the entire system.

Why is it doing this and does anyone know how or if I can make it stop?

I bought it used so I really have no idea how old it is.

It updated and installed the first time i put it in like most of my games but that's it

Used from where? Was it labelled refurbished? I'm assuming it's the old big model.

If you can find out what your most recent update was, that'd be helpful. Since you can't access the system that's out, but games usually tell you what updates they have on disc - if I interpreted you correctly, you're not updating via Internet.

Also, what's your ventilation look like? Is it on a tiled/non carpeted surface? Are the fans blocked at all?

the PS3 I bought new back in December it's the game I bought used. And yes I update via the internet every time it prompts me too

it's a vent on the back of the system that's currently on the top of my TV because i have no where else for it

It smells like early YLOD stages to me. I would take it to the nearest place that offers to service PS3s and see if it's a ventilation/heat problem. If not, I would probably call Sony and see what they say.

This is the only game i have this problem with though. Wouldn't it happen to other if it was the YLOD?

Perhaps the disc is bad. Take it back to wherever you got it and swap it for another.

I'll probably toss it and buy another at my gamestop. I was hanging with a friend when I bought it and he lives no where near me

I plan on it. I only tried it once then stopped
