A Missed Opportunity For WM25?

With the currently advertised WM25 Handicap match of Chris Jericho vs Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka the whole WWE "universe" is asking the madatory question of "What the hell Is Vince thinking?!"
Of course, there are many speculations and rumours floating around out there in regards to this match (I.E: Swerves...ect) but this thread isn't about that.

Myself and a friend of mine were talking the other day and my friend brought up a very good point. Also keep in mind that he has only been watching wrestling for about 6 months because of me so its quite impressive that he came up with this theory. He asked,

"If Chris Jericho is attacking that old "Superfly" guy and his son is that Sim Snuka guy then Why isn't Sim Snuka getting pissed off and attacking Jericho for revenge? They're on the same show right?"

Then it dawned on me, wouldn't that be a much better match than the one they are currently promoting? Yeah sure, Sim Snuka is probably craptacular too but the thing with me is, he isn't 65 either.

A Chris Jericho/Sim Snuka match could have that hidden potential. A match nobody cares about, but steals the show once its over and all is said and done. It would also be a perfect way to merge a mid-carder into the main event level. Fued with Jericho up until the G.A.B and then beat JBL for the IC Title at Night of Champions. Build him up some more, and the possibilities are quite endless. (Barring any disputes with McMahon/HHH/Wellness Policy)
It would sort of have that same effect as when JBL suddenly came out of no where and went on a year-long WWE title reign. The, "holy crap is this really happening?" effect.

I personally think this would be a great move and better than the current alternative provided to us. I would rather watch a potential athletic bout rather than Chris Jericho try his hardest to make a match with 3 senior citizens look good, which we all know it wont.

I agree. I use to be a HUGE Jericho-holic. In WCW. I thought he was a great heal with great mic skills and one of the better wrestlers. But now i literally just skim through his segments.

And this whole chasing and demeaning the elders is plain stupid and he is soooooo long winded. (same with orton...orton is great but the other day he started talking and I skipped ahead 2 min. and he still didn't spit out what we knew he was going to say)

I do agree with you...the sim snuka thing would be a great push for a guy they have been trying to push for a while and project him to another level or at least let us know wether he is main event material or not.

You know what I would have preferred? I would have liked it if Sim had run out during the Piper's Pit segment and instead of defending his dad, clobbered him.
Just to prove himself to Legacy.
Legacy is about being better than the legends.

Thank god your friends idea didn't come to be. Sorry and no offense but I think Sim is garbage - especially compared to the real great one, Jericho. I for one have faith in our savior Chris Jericho and I think that the handicap match with the Legends (Apply named by the way considering most of them are a step away from actually being handicapped.) will be one of the highlights of the show.

Not because of wrestling ability but because a story will be told in that ring, I guarantee it. And contrary to most beliefs, I think the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla is gonna win in another one of Vince's swerves. Besides, Chris is my hero and hell, I even named my little black lab Jericho

I liked the idea. Watch his match with Mysterio, he is a decent wrestler. He hasn't been released, so maybe there is a plan for him. What would be cool is if Jericho, with maybe some help is beating the hell out of these guys, then, Sim, either Reid or David Flair, and Steamboats son all come out to the rescue. That would be cool, and a good way to propell these guys into WWE.

Yes cos Jericho against a COMPLETE nobody would sell WrestleMania so much more than Jericho versus three wrestlers every wrestling fan has heard of.

Just think, you're an old wrestling fan, you see an advert saying Snuka, Steamboat and Piper are wrestling at Mania, will they pick up their phones and order the PPV? It's possible.

If they see an advert for Jericho versus the son of a former legend will they order it? Hell no.

Instead of the episode where it was Snuka, Piper and Steamboat who came out with Flair.

Jericho should have been in the ring waiting on Flair. Then the Four Horsemen theme should have blared over the sound system. That would have set the roof off of the place.

If someone is talking crap about Flair and legacies the Horsemen should have been there to back him up. Flair, Arn, Barry and Tully. That would have been too cool. This is a short term program as it is. Just a thought.

What are you watching wrestling for, you hate everyone involved, they all suck. Like I said go back and watch your NWA 85 tapes, so you can see a true magician with the microphone Nikita Koloff.

Back to the original discussion. I have been waiting for someone else to come up with that idea. I have thought that would be a great ideal all along. Snuka's kid needs a better role than being left off TV. If not Sim v. Jericho at mania, at least do a match between them on Raw. Sim should want revenge. Sim aint as bad as people think. It would make a ton of sense for WWE to go this route. Establish a new guy. Have him stick up for his father the legend. Then bring in others such as Goldust, Hennig's kid, DH Smith. Pair these guys up with Sim after his feud with Jericho and then you have something else for Legacy to do. Legacy should feud with more than just HHH. Rhodes and Dibiase should have their own small feuds as well. What better place to start than with Sim?

Back to the point of the thread, Sim Snuka v. Jericho great idea. Or maybe have him come out and cost his father the match. Maybe Sim could align with Jericho. Anything but use the guy for crying out loud he's good. Unfortunately WWE is probably waiting to release him until after they are done using Superfly. Once Superfly has had his match with Jericho at WM then Im almost positive WWE will future endeavour Mr. Sim Snuka. Sucks but probably true.
