My local cinema is having a film quiz tonight and posted this on their FB page. Apparently there are 50 film titles in the image to be deciphered. Hows about we see how many we can get?

So far I've got -
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Edward Scissorhands.
Shane.
Star Wars.
Breakfast at Tiffanys.
Mean Streets.
Taxi Driver.
Lion King.
Toy Story.
Bad Santa.
Fistful of Dollars.
Fiddler on the Roof.
Happy Feet.
The Dam Busters.
Blazing Saddles.
Chariots of Fire.
American Graffiti.
Dances With Wolves.
Gone with the Wind (?)
Towering Inferno.
The Birds.
Ghost.
Piano.
Shakespeare In Love.
School of Rock.

41. Guys and Dolls

Don't know what that is above the bull. It looks something like a cherry bomb and there is a film called Cherrybomb but I am not convinced.

Not sure what the big E. I thought maybe it was Notorious.

The man running with the bats has so far stumped me.

As has the ballerina and what looks like cats beside her. Could it just be Cats?

I am sure that the closing down cinema must be something.

The man throwing his hat must be another.

I think there is something between the gladiator's legs (ooooer)

The small plant beside the palm tree on the left is likely another.

One of the birds just below the cloud looks a little different so it might be one too.

This looks very similiar to something Lovefilm had not long ago. Anyway

47. Batman

I don't get the guy running with cricket bats (Batman?) and I'm sure I know the cinema closing down one. The guy throwing his hat off the roof? The two guys with puppets? (Ah, got it) Marilyn Monroe reading should be obvious but it's not coming to me (The Reader?)

Барбоса, I think you'll find 'Shooting Stars' is 'Star Wars' amigo. Loveless, I think 'The Reader' is more likely 'Toy Story'.

I believe that the guy running with the bats is the 'Batman'.
What about 'Twilight' for the sky?
I'm thinking possibly 'The Last Picture Show' for the Cinema but it doesn't explain the "Star" name and no film title is listed so the implication is that it is already closed.
The hat is tricky - 'Gone with The Wind' or 'Blown Away' kinda fit but don't feel right.

Personally, I think "Shooting Stars" is a far better answer than "Star Wars"

I'm sure Vic, Bob and George Dawes agree:lmao:

Having now cheated, I've located this collage - we have gotten 47 of the 50. Of the three remaining; one depends on your horticultural knowledge, one is a real hard to recognize from the picture and the final one (I feel) is more than slightly unfair as it already contains one movie... and it's a really obscure old movie.

47. Batman
48. The Black Dahlia
49. Gaslight
50. Jaws (?)

I "cheated" a little by downloading the picture and zooming in on the small plant to the left. By accident, it also helped me notice that the lamp was not electric.

I am guessing that the last one is below the gladiator but I am not sure which thing it is supposed to be. The item on the stand between his legs looks like it could be a mounted set of teeth so it could be Jaws but if it is the thing below that, then I have no idea.

I dunno if it's a red herring or not...
But I was thinking Hollywoodland as an all encompassing one perhaps? What with the Hollywood sign on the hills.

I had thought about that one myself. There are a couple of ambiguous ones - Shooting Stars/Star Wars, Toy Story could be broken up into The Reader and Toys, All About Eve could just be Eve while there are also plenty of Signs.
