Wow, This is a hard one, Seeing one of the People was in both Nirvana and the Foo Fighter's. in one corner you Have Nirvana, and in the other you have the Foo Fighter's, both are really great band's that have contributed so much to the Rock in Music, I am going to have to go with a personal choice of the foo fighter's. I just think they contribued the most and haven't got into to many "Issue's" like Nirvana. I think that the main reason Nirvana is as famous is the same reason that Eddie Guerero is. A death seem's to alway's make some one more famous then would they really should be. Seriously Nirvana is good but does anyone think they would be as famous as they are if Jurt Cobain was still alive today? The FooFighter's music never fail to impress, I have not heard one song that was "Average" they put 110% into there work and it show's Foo Fighters FTW..

Sparky Nirvana was huge before Kurt died (R.I.P.). They kick started the grunge movement, and without them some great bands would never have gotten big. They have realeased great music, and thier episode of MTV Unplugged is considered by many to be the best one. Just my two cents.

That is complete and utter bullshit, Nirvana is easily one of the most overrated bands ever, they were simply in the right place at the right time, the Grunge movement still would have happened, whether Nirvana was around or not, bands like Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains, both of which are far more talented than Nirvana, were already around before the the grunge movement started and also had a hand in it, I am sick and tired of hearing everyone go out and claim that the only fucking reason the grunge movement ever happened was because of Nirvana, when it simply isn't true

As for this match-up I'd have to say Foo fighters should go over here, cause they are simply a more talented band than Nirvana, who puts on better live shows, Cobain sounded like shit live with the exception of his Unplugged stuff, Foo Fighters owns Nirvana when it comes to playing live, the other thing in Foo favor is the fact that instead of produceing the "wooo is me depressing ass shit that lead teenagers to beleive it is ok to run around and bitch about how much their life sucks when in reality the vast majority of those teens had it fairly good", Foo went out and produce happier more up beat music, and entertaining videos, I find it much more refreshing to here a band that makes me feel good about myself when I listen to their music than a band who makes me feel liek I should be depressed and walk around feeling like shit

Foo Fighters should definitely go over in this because as I said before they are simply better

The Foo Fighters are a straight up better band than Nirvana. Nirvana has more influence, but the most talented member of the group was ALWAYS Dave Grohl. Dave is a much better singer than Kurt Cobain ever was, and his song writing is much better as well. Foo Fighters have some amazing tracks, as does Nirvana, but the Foo easily takes Nirvana here.

I have to agree with justinsayne that Nirvana is one of the most overrated bands of all time. Soundgarden are the true pioneers of Grunge, starting it before Nirvana was even a band. And Alice in Chains were the best grunge band, making it more dimensional and putting a bit of a metal twist into it. Nirvana was just in the right place at the right time.

The Foo Fighters, on the other hand, just played what they liked, and produced some quality stuff. Everything from "My Hero" to "The Best of You" is pure gold, and easily tops anything Nirvana has ever done. Nirvana might have been big before Kurt was dead, but if he were alive today, I think they wouldn't be nearly as popular as they are right now. Although Nirvana will always overshadow the Foo Fighters, it's hard to despute the Foo being the better band.

I gotta go with the Foo Fighters as well, and echo the sentiments that Nirvana is vastly overrated. I simply cannot vote for a band whose lead singer is a chicken shit coward who took the easy way out, rather than stay alive for his wife and kid. Way to be a man, Kurt. I have absolutely no respect for Kurt Cobain whatsoever. Its almost a shame that Dave Grohl is going to be forever associated with Cobain because of Nirvana.

I shocked that Nirvana are losing this one.

The argument here is that Dave Grohl is talented etc. Then why are you lot not voting for Tenascious D and QOTSA. If I remember correctly, Dave Grohl had a tickle on most of the Tenascious D album and quite a few QOTSA songs.

Foo Fighters as a band are talented, yes. They churn out ctachy radio songs that appeal to mainstream culture, wether you like it or not.

Nirvanas songlyrics were more emotional, thats why I voted for Nirvana.

The difference is that Foo Fighters is Dave's band. He did some drumming for 1-3 songs for Queens of the Stone Age, and did a little bit of stuff with Tenacious D, but Foo is his baby. Also I wouldn't say that him being talented is the main argument, because he was in both Nirvana and Foo. The argument is that Foo puts out better music than Nirvana did, which I believe wholeheartedly.

The Foo Fighters have shown a lot more diversity in the music they make than Nirvana did. A lot of Nirvana's stuff sounds kind of the same, while the Foo can sound completely different, but you can still tell it's them. And Dave Grohl having a better singing voice plays a big part for me as well. He doesn't sound like he's whining and complaining like Kurt always did.

I honestly just think they're the better band, and unlike Nirvana, who usually get all the votes due to nostalgia, I think Foo earned and deserve the majority of votes in this round.

Wow, I leave for a few days and expect one of my favorite bands the Foo Fighters to be losing because of lack of big support for someone and they are winning!! They are an awesome live band, they can play so much and Dave Grohl won't let his music be bad. It's that simple, if he feels a part of the album/song is weak he will go back and do something to make it work. Whether they are playing heavy or acoustic, the Foos definitely deserve to beat Nirvana here.

Nirvana, although overrated, were a hit during the time, overshadowing much better bands like Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. I have to admit, I've heard live tracks of theirs (not the Unplugged, which I am looking into) and Cobain always sounds like he was struggling to hit the high notes that he recorded. If you can't sing it all of the time, why sing it for the official version?

The Foos, on the other hand, are always good, all the time. Like the aformentioned Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, these guys are much better overall, but aren't overshadowed by some popular juggernaut (well, unless you count that shitty pop music). Dave Grohl has talent, no doubt. He's always believed in The Foos, even going as far to recording the first ever Foo album on his own (except for the guitar track on one song, I believe). I think their latest album has finally gotten them out of Cobain's and Nirvana's shadows, and they get my vote here.
