PHEW! Thank justice that the Pretenders are currently winning this rather handily. I was afraid more injustice would be put forth in front of us.
But the Stray Cats suck. They really, truly do. I'm sorry Brian Setzer fans, but the man is just flat out terrible. I love rockabilly, but the evil demon-spawn of new wave & swing music that Brian Setzer created will almost instantaneously send me into a fit of anger. Things get broken when I hear the Stray Cats. Truly are that bad.
Whereas the Pretenders are one of the most successful and critically acclaimed rock and roll bands of the 80s if not all time. Chrissie Hynde is the prototypical female rocker, and in my book no one outside of Patti Smith could rock harder. Mixing classic Kinks-styled rock with new wave & punk, it was a sound that was simply irrestible. "Tattoeed Love Boys", "Brass in Pocket", "Stob Your Sobbing" (a Kinks cover) all stand the test of time and then some. If you haven't taken the time to check the Pretenders out, do yourself a favor classic rock fans, and buy their first album. You'll thank be later.
