7/7

You know... there's terrorist attacks in the middle east on a regular basis and a great deal of famine and disease in fourth and fifth world countries that goes relatively ignored for the most part. Attention given to the departed on days like these could be better served elsewhere.

Of course that's insensitive on my part. Pardon my rudeness.

I knew caring about people who are being ignored while the suffer today would make me such. I stand by the opinion that the media and people in general would be better served giving their attention to those who aren't beyond saving at this point.

Yeah, because 11th of September doesn't deserve any attention either. Hell, why not just ignore commemorating all those who died on the Normandy landings as well

Did I say not to care? I didn't think so. Yet implying we shouldn't give attention to these people who died is stupid. We pay attention to 9/11, we pay attention to those who lost their lives in wars. It's what, 1 day a year? You can focus on everyone else for the rest of the days.

Unless you knew one or more of them or know someone who did, then taking a time-out from issues important to people who are alive today is awful. This attention could be used to get people to care about so many issues, but it won't happen. Because the media and people in general think terrorist attacks are sexier and more worth their time than people in under-developed parts of the world dying TODAY because of a simple problem like diarrhea. We can help that guy with the shits. Yet as you say here...

...we should take a day out from caring about that person who doesn't have to die TODAY? Insulting.

If it were a relative of yours, would you have the same view? I think not
These people would be doing everyone a favor by mourning quietly and letting something more relevent to the people of 2009 take center stage. I'd feel exactly the same no matter what connected me to the situation.

Like the death of Michael Jackson
Thank-you for bringing that up.

Why the fuck can't I turn on a news channel right now without watching this farce?

People's reaction to the dead in general makes me sick.

My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to all the fine, wonderful people I've met on this board from the UK.

You guys have been America's ally for over a century, have backed us in war, and have been comrades in arms. Our flags, our hearts are as one.

As the UK mourned and cried with us on 9/11, I stand here silent, respectful of the great losses suffered by Britain on 7/7.

Yet, I am hopeful. The hands of Americans and British alike are clasped in friendship, and a deep bond caused by terrorism, and years of anti-freedom monsters, killing our soldiers, bombing our people.

So, comrades, much respect on your sad day. 9/11=7/7 together. And, together we'll wipe these monsters off the face of the Earth.

Why the Eff is this on every news channel right now?

Arn't there more important things to talk about? But hey, ratings rules all I suppose, and i'm sure this little tribute to MJ will produce some good ratings. Pretty lame and pathetic if you ask me, so much more could be reported on and discussed then this crap. Yeah, he's dead, it's sad for his family and we all wish them the best getting through it... but over an hour of television time dedicated to his memory? All the guy did was sing, maybe songs touch people and all that, but I don't think anyone deserves THIS much attention just because they passed away.

Whats next? A Steve McNair telecast for 2 hours of remembering?
