Massacre alert. I'm unsure how Bo Diddley even took out Chubby Checker in the last round, but a pairing against the Doors is a slaughter waiting to happen. The Doors were edgy, unusual even and had an awesomely distinct sound and deserve to annihilate an artist I can't even name a song by

Bo Diddley is actually and unbeknownst to many one of the pioneers of rock. He is one of the most "covered" artists, and people usually don't know that a song an artist performed is actually a Diddley remake. He deserved to beat Checker, who is hardly rock.

But like MOST of the Preliminary Round winners, Diddley is, at this point, fodder for one of the top 8. This region is stacked with classics, and the Doors are only one of many. Jim Morrison and co. put together such an amazing catalog of music in such a short time, it's almost mind blowing. Doors songs are still wildly popular and to this day continue to be covered by modern artists. Songs such as "Love Me Two Times," "People Are Strange," "Break On Through," and "Love Her Madly" are timeless classics, forever immortalized in rock history.

But no band in this region has an easy road. The Doors are staring at a battle with either The Monkeys or The Mamas and the Papas next round, and barring a shocking upset either The Who or James Brown the round after that. The Beatles are also on their side of the bracket.

The Doors wins this fairly easily which is a shame when you consider the Late Great Bo Diddley. But Jim Morrison is a fucking God of Music. People say that Bob Dylan was a poet, thats Bullshit limericks when compared to Jim Morrison. The Lyrics to songs like "Riders on the Storm" are hauntingly brilliant. The Instrumental part of the Music in and of itself is reason to vote for the Doors. But Combine in the Lyrics and The Doors should be in a position to Win this entire thing.
