I guess this is definately the end of the road for POP: Two Thrones but this game surely deserves some votes. It shouldn't be a squash by any stretch of the imagination.
I think that POP: Two Thrones is a game that can be enjoyed on many levels. Visually, it is a treat and has some very good and some very different music from the hard rock/ heavy metal numbers churned out in the bland FPS'. Action wise, like I have mentioned a number of times, the combat system of this game is second to none. Really there hasn't been a more fun experience than your character being surrounded by a group of sand monsters and you sending them flying in all directions with some of the most mindblowing combo moves only involving two small swords.
That is not to say that the game is easy. The bosses especially are very tough to kill. You cannot just slash your swords at the boss in any manner and hope that he dies. There are definite stages in a battle which involve decapitating your enemy in a certain manner before you proceed.
Storyline wise, this is the most logical time travelling storyline that has been seen in the history of gaming. The recurring theme of a man trying to change his fate and fate and time coming back like a bitch to haunt the prince is one of the most enjoyable parts of this series. This game also features the conflict of the prince with his own self and this is not something that I believe has been seen in any other action adventure game.
Pokemon IInd generation is possibly the best generation of Pokemon games and I fully expect them to go through. However, I do believe that it is not without it's share of flaws. Take the extended Kanto part of the game which is one of the factors why this game is so critically acclaimed for. The gym battles, pokemon battles and even the trainer battles in this part of the game are boring as hell. Why? Because your pokemon by this point of time are around level 55 and you'll be facing a guy whose pokemon will be around level 10. I actually believe that Brock, the Pewter City Gym leader actually had a level 7 Geodude. Gee, I wonder if that will win against a level 53 Quagsire. It did take some of the fun away from the game. Most of the gym leaders in the Kanto region had inferiorly levelled Pokemon. I understand the reason why it was so but I still maintain that it should not have been the case.
Also the last battle against Ash/ Red in this game is somewhat underwhelming. Ash's pokemon were very highly levelled but he had poor AI and the overall stats of his Pokemon weren't that impressive. I think that I had a level 57 Graveler at this point and he took down the level 81 Pikachu in just one shot. Meh, I expected better Ash. Also why exactly did Ash field a Pikachu against a Graveler. Now before you say that it is an old game and so it is expectable for the game not to have a great AI but the thing is the champion of the Johto region, Lance I think his name was, had better AI. I thought that parts of the Kanto region were poorly programmed. Maybe that is why the programmers refrained from the extended region format for the later games.
I voted POP: Two Thrones because there isn't a single thing wrong about the game.
