Yes but for that choice to matter you have to believe there is a significant difference in your life based on who wins. In that regard Obama had an excellent closing argument even if it was a little Romney-esque in specifics.

I don't think either of them will be great for the economy. Sad thing is some Americans are clueless as to what caused the 2008 collapse, I have seen people blame it entirely on over regulation. At this point I want the country to fall into ruins, unless it does nobody will learn a damn thing.
Just wanted to pop in and give my quick thoughts on the debate. I thought Obama really came on strong as it progressed and he did a good job. Romney, on the other hand, looked a little shaky all night -- not to mention, I thought he was getting more and more frustrated as the debate went on and on. Obama's closing argument was the highlight of the night for me -- followed closely by how well I thought he did answering the question about how he would try to curb unemployment and bring some (which was refreshingly honest) jobs stateside. I thought he really drove his point home and left off on a solid note, regaining some of the lost momentum from the first debate. Now, this isn't to say that Obama did exceptionally well, but he certainly won the debate (in my eyes, not going to force my opinion on anybody else).
The collapse isn't necessarily straight forward, but (on a national level) we'd built an economic bubble for years and we knew a collapse was coming. Deregulation of financial industry kick-started everything 30 years ago. From then on, you had banks and insurance companies basically rigging the housing market for their own benefit -- IE overrating faulty mortgages, insuring against said faulty mortgages, and so on -- and that's solely the housing market. They also gave ridiculously high credit ratings stocks they knew were going to crap out, so as to cash in on that too. It wasn't going to last long, they were only inflated the bubble more and more.
That's just the tip of the iceberg of what caused our economy to go under, so I can't really blame people for being uninformed.

I'll give Obama another four years. Due to the massive clusterfuck he inherited, and that is what happened, his economic track record is basically a wash. When you spend four years attempting to clean up a mess, you really don't have time to do what you wanted to do oh, say, three months prior to the election. He hasn't had a proper chance and that's exactly why I haven't turned against him. I know what Romney wants to do. He wants to do what he did in MA, walk the Tea Party line and give the rich incentives to hire, or as normal people call it, bribery. That's what it is. They see an opportunity to hold the country hostage (by not hiring, terminating jobs, etc) and demand further tax breaks, so that's what they're doing. It's insane to give them what they want. Why? Because then they've crossed a line they'll never cross back.
That's my rant for the evening. Romney's a worthless sack of shit who hasn't known a single ounce of struggle in his entire life. I'll pass.

How the public reacts to the debates is interesting. But nothing gets me more cynical than listening to politicians dance around issues. I feel worse off for being around while people watched that.

There were a lot of factors which contributed to the collapse, many of them the result of the type of policies Romney endorses. The disparity of income between the rich and poor was exceedingly high, higher than even before the Great Depression, which has ties to how taxes have kept being driven lower. Obviously the lack of regulation over the financial industry played a huge part, regulations which Romney supports repeals on (not all, but some). The outsourcing of American jobs, and the removal of laws protecting American jobs (as well as tax credits supporting plants moved overseas) played a huge part in it, a practice Romney's company Bain Capital has been seen to be a major "pioneer". Even such things as international demand of energy, which sent our oil/gas prices skyrocketing, played a part in it (and I don't know enough about Romney's plan for energy independence to say how he would have fallen on this).
There were a lot of factors, but many of the causes are things which Romney's plan directly or indirectly supports.
Clearly you didn't listen to Ann Romney's speech at the convention, when she detailed the hard life the Romney's had when they first were married.
Just ignore the fact Mitt didn't work, and they lived off of his trust fund (I believe it was) and investments which were made for him.
There was a lot of dancing, and a lot of flat out ignoring.
But, quite frankly, what they did last night is what people want. They want the confrontation. They want to see how the guys say what they say, and don't really care what they are actually saying (which is just sad). Just like everything else in American society, it's style over substance.

And I had no interest in watching 2 liars talk angrily at each other saying shit they will have no interest in actually doing.
I'm trying to figure out what meaningless 3rd party to vote for, or maybe they add a "none of these men should win" option on Election day.
Honesty is the best policy. Tell the people the truth and they will at least respect you for it.

Only if they agree with you which is what has turned politics into the ridiculous thing it is. Smart people lying articulately because they are afraid to stir the ignorant masses. Catering to stubborn idiots is holding this country back.
