2nd generation Freebird

With the rise of 2nd generation factions such as Legacy, Hart Dynasty etc...how would you feel about a modern day Freebirds? Jesse (or J-Dizzle-aka Slam Master J or whatever) is the son of Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy-the Freebirds' big guy and 2nd in command...now what if Jesse, Festus (minus the ****** bell ring gimmick) and maybe someone like Jamie Noble got together and recreated the Southern hell-raising mayhem of the Fabulous Freebirds...I think it beats anything either of them are doing at the moment, and they could even be managed by Michael Hayes for a while....whatcha think?

I actually wouldn't mind seeing that. I'm wondering how much they would have to tone it down, though, for today's PG audience...? They probably couldn't get away with wearing a Confederate flag and stuff like that like they could 20 years ago, but I think the gimmick, with a little tweaking, could work...but only on Smackdown where they seem to be a little more serious about wrestling. If they tried to pull it off on Raw, it would turn into a cartoon.

Jamie Noble will never get another serious push. He was said to be awesome in the indies and was re-signed by the WWE and now he's a comedy performer now with no serious credibility. Jesse and Festus were comedy tag team also so mixing them all together would be a major dissapointment as they will never ever be taken as seriously as the Freebirds were to those who remember them.

If done seriously, I would actually enjoy this gimmick. J-Dizzle, or whatever his name is, is such a horrible gimmick. I could see Noble and Gordy as a decent tag team and The Artist Formerly Known as Festus as their enforcer. They'd never be more than mid-card, but that's fine. Hayes could interrupt one of J-Dizzle's ridiculous backstage promos and tell him what a disgrace he is to his father's legacy. The group could eventually form from there.

Sadly though I think it would quickly just turn into humorless stereotyping. The world already has one Cody Deaner in TNA, we don't need three more in WWE.

I understand the theory of this, just sincerely doubt the effect it would have, if any. I don't want to shoot down any ideas to make the WWE better, however, this isn't 1982 which means that people would already know who Festus is. It's not like the WWE made him do this for 6 months, took him off TV and then brought him back as Terry Gordy's son. I know fans have short attention spans, but that doesn't equate to having short memories. It wouldn't be believable due to the fact the WWE basically killed him before he got a chance to live. They committed career abortion and there's no turning back. But good idea nonetheless.

Very hard to do since Roberts and hayes do not have kids. You would really want it to be a legacy type deal where the kids take over not some who, who and who that can't carry the old freebirds jock straps. I would love to see it to but no way will it happen as having their kids in it is a must. That is like saying the New Horsemen are Morrison, The Hardyz, and CM PUNK. Means nothing and kills the legacy

That's exactly what I was thinking...maybe even start it off as a feud with Noble trying to "slap some sense" into Jesse...with Hayes in Noble's corner...hell I even say acknowlege Festus' ****** thing by saying it came from a breakdown or too many bumps...and now he's just a half-crazy powerhouse and the bond he and Jesse have would be enough to finally convince Jesse to "see the light"...hell put in on ECW, see if it works...I realize I'm playing arm-chair booker here, but that's half the fun of being a wrestling fan.

It's an intriguing idea more because it woud be great to have everyone on the roster doing something. I think the more action and different stories you can cram into Raw, Smackdown, or ECW, the better.

I would more than anything like to see the tag division build itself back up, and this is the way to do it. Get small groups and factions started back up and give them a purpose. Obviously, any combination of the 3 would never be able to beat JeriShow, but at least with a common goal and some sort of gimmick, it would be entertaining and give the audience something new to look forward to.

i say they come up with another fresh look faction instead of recreating the same thing from the old days, will not be a bad idea but they need to stop reinventing factions, hart dynasty...

You know how the WWE like rahashing ideas (see DX, nWo, Evolution, Hart Dynasty, and so on), however the Freebird thing is a good idea.

Jaxter was wrong about Buddy Roberts not having kids. He has a son who wrestles as Buddy Roberts, Jr. and is described as wrestling "very much like a young Christopher Daniels."

Gordy needs to go back to FCW, since his in-ring work ain't all that great. WWE would then have to sign Roberts, Jr., teach him the WWE way to work, and call the two up to the main roster and then actually go with the Freebirds rebirthing idea.

It'd be cool in theory, but I just don't get very excited when I think about Slam Master J being part of ANY stable! I'd like to see what Roberts, Jr. can do, though. But that's about it.

It'd only be cool if Gory, Jr. can step it up.

well...i just wanna admit, this is my 1st post and the feedback was really exciting...positive and negative. Ultimately it seems that the idea of a red hot southern faction with roots to the original Freebirds is waaaay more exciting than Jesse's wegro(yes I have coined a term) current jip of a gimmick...GIMME FREEBIRDS 09!!!!

Just checked out the site Windy City wrestling
and their is a Buddy Roberts Jr.
he must be his son to be using the name
wonder how long he has been wrestling
does anyone know?
just imagine having a freebird as a Dad !!
Sure would be nice to have the old school of the Freebirds back with a twist

That would be fucking horrible and here's why:

No one gives a shit about Jesse, Festus or Jamie Noble.

I haven't heard anything from any of them in a good long time and to be honest, it doesn't keep me up at night. All 3 of them, maybe with the exception of Jesse are horrible, horrible superstars and don't deserve to tarnish the Freebird's legacies.

is Jamie Noble one of the Freebird kids?

I just happen to fall on to this site so i'm trying to stay on top of things here
I didn't even know that Terry Gordy had a son and it was Jesse

I just used to watch the Birds in Dallas
Birds of a feather flock together

maybe the 2nd generation can do it with a twist

That line up wouldn't fly... but there are the two Briscoes down in FCW... I could see them forming a "Southern" faction with someone down the line...

The problem with the Freebirds is it was an 80's thing... remember when they did the New Rockers? It would be like that... only worse...

Can't help thinking why couldn't Jesse be a new Demoliton member? That would be pretty good...
