Well you need to. If you don't prove everyone wrong and foster an adversarial attitude among your base, they could be swayed by other points of view.

It's just tough for me to watch a guy stand in front of a cheering audience and run his mouth for over 20 minutes while knowing a villain isn't going to eventually come out with a microphone of his own and steel chair in tow.
