What's next for Kofi Kingston?

C.M.

WrestleMania Main Event
After getting attack by Edge before the Raw elimination chamber, what do guys think is next for Kofi? Will the creative team just forget about it & move on or will he try to get revenge on Edge?

Personally I hope he gets drafted to Smackdown & if Edge doesnt get drafted, he should seek revenge for getting taking out out of his biggest title opportunity so far in his career. Also he gets lost on Raw's mid-card, he'll have a better chance of becoming a main eventer on Smackdown.

I have been thinking about the Kofi Kingston issue, and while I'd love, and it would sort of make sense for Kofi to come after Edge... It really, won't happen. The reason Kofi was the one chosen to be taken out was because WWE thought he was the weakest link in that match. Unfortunately, if the WWE thinks that, he won't even think about (kayfabe) going after Edge.

And for Kofi to come after Edge would be too good to be true for me, and the WWE doesn't like me.

Personally I hope he does nothing, he isn't in Edge's league, and potential mini-feud would be disruptive to building Edge/Cena's match at mania.

He's not going to become a main eventer, why would WWE give someone who is a very average wrestler a main event push. Unlike other wrestlers in the mid-card i.e. Swagger, MVP, hell even Carlito he hasnt shown anything that would suggest he has the potential to be a main event wrestler. You have admited yourself he gets lost on Raw's midcard, well thats hardly got an abundence of talent, if he can't stand out from Rey, CM Punk, and Kane all failed champions they aint gonna allow him to get anywhere near the main event. Kofi is just a comedy midcarder with his jamacian gimmick, which lets face it is the only reason he is even slightly over. He should go back to ECW, Swagger is going to need some fresh meatto go over after the draft, and its the best chance of a decent midcard feud he is going to get, since the mid-card on RAW and Smackdown dont really get serious feuds anymore.

I honestly see nothing happening. The fact that he was attacked will only ever be used to push Edge, and will never be mentioned for Kofi. He'll go back to being mid-card filler.

Since it is Edge v. Cena that's being set up, and Cena is the top face, and has amazing street cred (per that 10 man tag where he teamed with Cryme Tyme, Kofi, and Rey), Kofi may end up getting a match with Edge, but that's doubtful. Maybe Kofi gets a few weeks of sitting in Cena's corner. Becomes a kind of cheap bodyguard. Keeps Edge's lackies away from the ring, and gets the occasional chair shot for his efforts.

If the Edge vs. Cena match occurs at Wrestlemania (not fully set in stone yet), I would be suprised if WWE try and used to Kofi in an interference role, bit like eye for an eye, cost me my title chance, your turn now. That could make things interesting as Edge would go after Kofi, blaming him for losing the championship.

Though if I had to be honest, if they have Kofi in the IC program, it might work, could give CM Punk a heel turn so it gives him a chance, though seeing those two in a match could be interesting...

I was kinda mixed on what they did to Kofi in the EC. It genuinely surprised me, and I thought the resulting match was actually really good (I know I'm in the minority on that one, but thats another topic). But one of things I was most excited about that match was to see how Kofi would do in the main event. I would love to see him in an ongoing fued for the IC or maybe mix it up a little in the main event in tag matches, four-ways, etc.

Part of the problem is that his happy character doesn't really make it easy for him to feud. It seems like most of his storylines lately are: Kofi is a nice guy who happens to be there when a heel is doing something bad to one of his friends (he is friends with all the faces) and then he tags with them for a few weeks to stretch out the storyline while never really cutting any promos to explain his side of things. It only works because he's entertaining in the ring and so nobody really minds him bringing him his energy to pick up an otherwise slow tag match even if there isn't a reason for him to be there.

I was just thinking about this, the whole situation is much like CM Punk being replaced by Jericho at Unforgiven after an attack. Clearly they want to promote the main event with those that will tune in to see Kofi or Punk and then bring in someone serious who can actually hold a title!

When the next 6 man event (HIAC, Tournament, EC) comes, lets bet who will be taken out then!

I'd say Kofi is one of those talents they don't really give time to. Some of you say all this stuff about him being generic and average and undeserving of a push but if you say that what gives a guy like saaay CM Punk any credibility? Punk was built on being average. Average in size, ability, ring work, and mic skills and yet he got a World Heavyweight title reign where there was still no push behind him and eventually he dropped the title. What separates that from a Kofi Kingston? Kofi is talented, just as much as Punk. Not a big guy but that shouldn't work for everybody.
I'd say he's at least deserving of a match with Edge. He does some moves, puts on a good show, gets speared but lives to fight another day.

I think Kofi will be coming back for a very short feud with Edge, maybe a run in and a sinlge match, then he'll go back to the mid card area. It's now apparent that he wasn't getting a real main event shot so he can now use that as a reason to stay in the highest level of the midcard. Using this, he can stay in feuds with various upper midcarders and maybe have a few quick main event shots. While he'll never be a major main eventer, I see the brief feud with Edge then maybe something with some upper level heel, maybe JBL or Kane.

First things first: They need to change the way they make him look. Seriously when he comes out he looks mentally ******ed. The way to change that is to have him turn heel and feud with Rey. This will give Kofi a big push to stardom, or at least a solid mid-carder. Since a lot of kids cheer for Mysterio and Kofi, they'll buy into it and go mad over them fighting.

It wouldn't work. For one, Kofi's popular. Why would they want to mess with something that works? His style is too speed based to be an effective heel. It would be like making Rey a heel. The fans simply wouldn't buy it. There's nothing wrong with being a solid mid carder for your career. Many peopel have made it work. Look at guys like Muraco, Valentine and Santana. Career midcarders and all very respected. Kofi is fine doing things the way he is.

I would make perfect sense for Kofi Kingston to get drafted to SD! and get revenge on Edge, but even at that, it's very unlikely. A fued with Edge, for Kofi can either mean he will get elevated to the main event soon after or he will get completely jobbed and later released. That's the main reason why I'm not sure if I would like for WWE to allow Kofi to get revenge on Edge. And someone had said that WWE took him out of the Chamber match because they felt he was the weakest link. Why the hell did they let him win the qualifying match in the first place? It could have easily gone to someone else, such as C.M. Punk or should I dare say... Santino Marella.

And when you look back, you'll realize that Edge has costed many wrestlers title shots and later went on the win the World Championship. They include both Kofi Kingston and Mr. Kennedy. So, I hope that WWE tries something new and drafts Kofi to SD! and have him team with Kennedy and anyone else who was affected by Edge's ''Ultimate Opportunist'' gimmick and have some sort of revenge storyline. This could help elevate them all into the main event and everyone is happy.

I wouldn't personally be in favor of that, it's time Kennedy get back on track as a future main eventer, he'd be just wasting away in a tag team with Kofi. As for Kofi, I don't see a problem with him being a career midcarder. It seems nowadays that if you're not in the main event, you're a failure, but people forget great career midcarders like Golddust, Val Venis, D-Lo Brown, and other guys who carried the Attitude Era's midcard.

Whats pretty much going to happen is that they will give Kofi another week off to sell his beating. Then his return will probably be hyped for the following week, announcing his return in a match with Edge. More than likely, Cena interfere's, giving Kofi a win over Edge, and continuing the build up between Cena and Edge. Then they will probably have a tag match with Cena/Kofi vs Edge/?. After this is finished, Kofi will earn his spot in MITB, do well in there but not win. After than, he either gets drafted or Benjamin gets drafted to raw, and you will see Kofi feud over the US title.

I like the idea of turning Kofi heel and starting a program with CM Punk for the IC title. Team him with Punk against Kane and Mike Knox, and either have Kingston refuse to tag in after Kane and Knox have beat down Punk and he crawls to the corner to tag him in, or Kofi "accidentally" hits Punk during the course of the match. But I don't see him in a program with Edge now or anytime in the future.

Hopefully he gets a chance to have a match with Edge but like most people already said it will probably be forgotten in the annels of wrestling lore lol. I'm just saying.

If Kofi doesn't even get the chance to cut a promo on his feelings about NWO then he is basically never going to be considered for the main event.

If he turns up all smily and normal then he is staying a popular mid carded who can win the IC title and team up with other faces in six man tag matches and other similar events.

I can see Kofi getting a 1 off shot at Edge in the WM build up as part of the Cena/Edge storyline but then it will never be mentioned again. Like in 2002 when Maven was taken out of the Royal Rumble but wasnt actualy eliminated he got a 1 off title shot then that was it.

While I find Kofi very entertaining in the ring some posters have pointed out that he doesn't have much in the way of a character. Edge is one of the biggest stars in the WWE today. Plus the time between now and Wrestlemania should be used to build up Edge's program for whomever he is defending the World title against. It won't be Kofi. Having Kofi come back early and not having him face Edge right away would basically stop any idea from it happening. If he doesn't do it right away why bother? But if they wait to bring him back until after Mania just for a quick little 1-2 match payoff with Edge. He won't be able to compete at Wrestlemania. That would be a foolish thing to do.

Kofi has been solid during his entire tenure in the Raw Midcard. He had the first feud with Glamarella. (one of Raw's biggest draws) He beat Chris Jericho to win the title in the first place. So they obviously have faith in him to be able to go against a major heel on their roster and they teamed him up with former World Champions such as CM Punk and John Cena in the past.Even giving him a tag team title run with Punk.

So while I think he has the talent to hang with a major star such as Edge. This close to Wrestlemania it's just not a good idea. Edge needs to focus on whoever he is defending his World Championship against at WM. Not a midcarder without enough character to be considered a main event player on Raw's flagship show.

I think that Kofi is just going to go back to the mid card and slowly get pushed to the main event level. It would have been nice to see what he could in the chamber, but Kofi's time will come soon enough. Is over with the crowd and entertaining in his matches so he is going to be fine. I also don't think there is any chance he has a feud with Edge. Maybe one match on a RAW before Mania where Cena gets involved, but other then that he will just go back to the mid card for the time being.
