Sting as The Stinger with the character select portrait being his recent '95-'96 stint in his dark shaggy hair transition phase before going full-on Crow Sting, yet when the game cuts to the gameplay, Stinger sports the blonde flattop and colorful face paint, yet he wears the black tights with Stinger colored in rainbow.
Randy Savage as Savage with the later years of his cartoon Golden Era character sporting a colorful cowboy hat and the colorful attires that he had still sporting since his WWF debut, and even his first retirement from the WWF at WrestleMania VII (7) at the hands of The Ultimate Warrior in 1991. He even still wore the colorful attire after the New World Order faction was formed at BATB '96 before almost every wrestler in WWF, WCW, ECW by 1997 (such as Savage, Undertaker, etc.) and everywhere in the Western world was mandated to wear black attires or jeans.
Surely THQ and Sony Playstation had to fill the bonus roster wrestler slots for fun, even the programmers from THQ and Inland Productions are playable. Then PS1 Nitro gives you the babyface "Lionheart" Jericho instead of the other PC and Nintendo 64 Nitro versions give you the heel "Conspiracy Victim" Chris Jericho instead. The bit about Hulkster, Stinger and Savage was because when 1996 began, all three were still decked in colorful attires like the Golden Era never really went away from the public eye, but their default attires are based on Hogan's nWo, Sting's Crow and Savage's nWo attires.
