Spunky

Lovable degenerate.

Sony’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is receiving staggering review scores. With scores averaging out to around a 97/100, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is one of the highest reviewed games of the generation. At the end of the day, though, the review scores are only meaningless numbers to the corporate heads of Sony. Uncharted 2 may be successful in the eyes of the media, but it needs to be successful on the retail shelf this holiday season.

Naughty Dog has crafted a game worthy of the praise it’s been receiving. Expanding on everything the first title offered, Naughty Dog took the foundation of an award winning franchise and brought it to the next plateau. Updated graphics, expanded features like numerous online multiplayer modes, and a deep, longer, more engaging single-player experience is what Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is looking to offer over the original Uncharted. Drake’s Fortune is heavily regarded as one of the best PS3 exclusives, but the sales numbers didn’t reflect this level of success partially thanks to the high price of the PlayStation 3 at the time. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has moved a respectful 3 million units – very solid for a console exclusive. With the PS3 retailing for $500, gamers weren’t willing to spend the big bucks to play this, what appeared at the time, Tomb Raider clone. Those who did own a PS3 quickly found themselves an experience like no other. Uncharted was no Tomb Raider clone, instead it was like playing an old Indiana Jones movie. The experience was thrilling.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune kind of flew in under the radar. People knew it was coming, but the level of hype surrounding it wasn’t strong. With Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare launching in the same holiday season, gamers lost sight of Uncharted, and the sales reflected this. Launching in mid-November 2007, Uncharted only managed to move around 300,000 units before the year ended. Not what you’d expect out of a big console exclusive during the holiday months. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Super Mario Galaxy, and Halo 3 were the big sellers in 2007, though.

Let’s fast-forward to 2009. The PS3 is selling for $299 and Sony is having a breakout year in terms of hardware sales and software releases. Games like inFamous are performing well at retail and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves hangs just over the horizon. Now, how did a sequel to a game that didn’t initially sell well become one of the biggest games of the 2009? Even with sales totaling around 3 million, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune became the game PS3 buyers started to buy as used, and the PS3 Bundle package also moved a lot of units. The Uncharted fans grew and they became very vocal. The more they talked about the game, the more people went out to borrow it from a friend, rented it off GameFly, or bought a copy either new or used. As people bough more PS3s, more people became infatuated with Uncharted.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is launching in a week. Review scores have been absolutely staggering. PS3 owners are eagerly awaiting the release, while non-PS3 owners are waiting for the game to launch to buy a PS3 with the game. It’s clear that Uncharted formed a solid foundation for a masterful series to grow on. Uncharted 2 is the product of that foundation. Thanks to a vocal audience, ever-growing PS3 user base, Sony and Naughty Dog will finally release a title that Sony has desperately needed this generation: A true killer app in the form of Uncharted 2. Offering a one of the kind experience, Xbox 360 and Wii owners cannot find a game on those systems that can nor will match the experience Uncharted delivers.

So according to the so called experts, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be the best game of the year. I have downlaoded the open multiplayer beta, And it's fantastic it's the best 3rd person shooter i've played since Socom one. I have heard alot of people complaining about the damage and aiming, But it's fine as far as im concerned. People are just holding down the fire button and hoping for the best, But you have to burst fire or the recoil with tear the shit outta of your accuracy rating.

Overall I love it, The graphics really give a great game, An amazing shine. I've pre-ordered the game, And can't wait to see where they take the game from the ending of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune the curse of El Dorado was a great twist for the end of the game, And really freshened it up from the normal enemies.
