Some 400 hopefuls turned out today at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott in Newark, N.J., to audition for the 14th season of "The Ultimate Fighter."

Seen in the crowd were a few familiar faces: UFC vet Din Thomas, who appeared on the show's fourth season, and WEC vets Wagnney Fabiano, Micah Miller and Ian McCall.

"The Ultimate Fighter 14," which begins production this summer and debuts in the fall on Spike TV, is expected to feature bantamweight and/or featherweight fighters. It's the first time the reality show has featured competitors in the UFC's lightest weight classes.

This is going to be one of the most exciting TUF's in a long time, I can't wait to see who Dana taps for the coaches. My guess is that Miguel Torres is going to get the nod and the winner of Faber/Cruz will get tapped as well (depending on how soon they meet).

Should be a great season. I honestly have no idea who the coaches would be. I agree with you that Torres, and Faber/Cruz should get the nod as it would expose the lower weight classes to casual fans. The only problem I see there being with those guys is I can't really see and type of drama coming from the coaches. On pretty much every season there has been either heat between the coaches, or one interesting figure that will draw views(Lesnar). I don't know if the names of the coaches would draw enough.

It would be great to see Faber as a coach though because the guy is easily one of the most likable fighters in MMA. I also can't think of anybody else being chosen to coach so maybe you are right. Either way it'll be a great season. If only Marcelo Garcia got onto the show this year i'd be one happy man.

Cruz and Faber would be the best choice if you wanted two dudes that hate each other. You have to introduce fans to the hatred that some of these fighters have at the lower divisions, and those of us who are aware of the hatred between Faber and Cruz know that it's on par with Serra and Hughes or Tito and Shamrock.

The casual fan isn't going to realize it until they tune in to the show, though.

Torres would be an OUTSTANDING coach for TUF, but I think he's too much of a likeable and respectable character in the division for their to be a hatred for Faber. Cruz will need to win that fight for there to be genuine beef with Torres. Faber is too new to the division and hasn't squared off with Torres yet.

I think Torres and Faber would have the most knowledge to impart on their fighters and they have the most experience of doing so. Faber has run his own gym for quite some time and is basically the founder and coach of Team Alpha Male. Miguel trains at Tristar with GSP and such. So, he'd be able to bring in plenty of quality coaches to teach young fighters.

Also, a side note, if any of you have followed Miguel Torres on Twitter, he's a shit-talking, mother-fucker. I love it. Examples:

MiguelTorresMMA Some folks complain about how hot it is outside. I on the other hand love the heat cause I'm so cool. Life is all about balance.

MiguelTorresMMA Man Law: Never talk about how great you are. Its never cool to suck your own cock.

MiguelTorresMMA Right before I fight I am going to eat 5 viagra pills. There will be no excuses, I am gonna bring it hard.

After the Cyborg Santos fought Jan Finny Torres tweeted this awesome gem.

MiguelTorresMMA Cyborgs girlfriend wins. I wonder who will be the pitcher and who will catch tonight. Should be on national geographic

First of all, I really hope Din Thomas makes the show. I'm a fan of the guy and would love to see him make a comeback. I'm still disappointed as fuck we didn't get the Din Thomas/Ricardo Mayorga fight from Shine all those months back. I guarantee Din Thomas would already be in the UFC right now had that fight taken place, since he would have undoubtedly kicked Mayorga's ass and gotten a shit load of attention after the fight was done.

As far as the coaching for this show... I have a feeling that the coaches won't be bantamweight or featherweight. The biggest draw in either class is Urijah Faber, and Dana White has promised that Faber will not coach the show, and while you can never fully trust Dana White, I believe him here. I think with the recent huge coaching names the show has had the past couple of seasons that he'll want to keep that trend up. Maybe it'll be Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, or maybe it'll be Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping. I'm definitely curious as fuck though who they will pick. The fights are guaranteed to be awesome with the little guys. All the show will need are two entertaining coaches with big name value. I think the UFC knows that will be the best way to bring attention to the show and those divisions.
