November 7th

Fizzy

Mid-Card Championship Winner
Just read that on November 7th that Spike and the UFC will try and counter program the Strikeforce event featuring Fedor vs Brett Rodgers and Mayhem Miller vs Jake Shields. This program will air the headlining bouts from UFC 101-103 and will start at the same time as Strikeforce's show. So the question is what will you watch?

Personally i'll be watching Strikeforce's show. First because I want to see Shields vs Miller so badly and also of course Fedor will be there. Also I have already seen the fights scheduled to air on Spike. Personally I think Strikeforce's show will dominate UFC's. So what do you think?

I'll watch both eventually, but whenever Fedor comes on, I'll be tuning into Strikeforce, that's for sure. As for who will win the battle of drawing viewers? I don't know, but I'd venture to say it will be the UFC. Strikeforce just really isn't very well known by anyone outside of hardcore MMA fans, and there hasn't been a whole lot of promotion for the event on television as of yet. I expect the UFC will likely draw more viewers.

Well this isnt really that surprising to me at all. I havent seen any of the fights from ufc 101-103 but I would love to see the Franklin/Belfort fight. However that aside I will most deff. be watching strikeforce. The card looks great and will be live and free. If I really wanna watch the fights ufc is showing that night i'll just look them up on youtube or something. You cant top Fedor on free tv, at least not to me and Miller/Shields could be foty candidate. Strikeforce all the way on November 7.

Hmm, probably will flip back and forth. I'll definetly watch a good bit of the Penn/Florian fight, Couture/Nog will be good as well. Belfort/Franklin was a rather disappointing and short match from what I heard, no point in tuning into that for more than a minute.

Strikeforce has a pretty good card as well though. I could care less about Werdum and the Moussasi fight is a squash according to jmt. The two main events look very good though. I've seen a few Shields fights and he's awesome and obviously I'll be watching Fedor.

I'll likely be flipping between the two, and considering fight don't actually take up that much time, I don't think I'll miss much. However, if I have to choose, I'll probably go Strikeforce because I won't know the results to the fights and Gus Johnson will likely be involved. I think they'll have more viewers as well, being on a major network with a lot of advertising really helps.

I really like the "competition" between Strikeforce and UFC, in the end, it only benefits the fans.

I wouldn't call the Belfort match a dissapointment. Sure it was short as shit, but it showed just how fucking dominate Belfort still is. Everyone loves a good knockout, and Belfort just dominated Franklin. Not a great fight, but it's vintage Belfort and I love that. The other two were great fights, but nothing on the UFC show will rival Shields/Mayhem and Fedor/Rodgers.

I wouldnt say Vitor was that dominate over Franklin. Even though it was a early ko I think if Franklin wouldve not got into the flurry that early he definetly shouldve pulled out the win. Belfort passed the 1st round its over. Silva should take him with ease.
UFC will probably get more ratings when they go head to head with strikeforce. Because alot of the new fans to MMA think UFC is MMA. Thus most mma fans should see Fedor/Rogers. Ill probably tune in to see The last emperor destroy Rogers definetly

Rich Franklin got upset that the fans were booing and then got impatient. To please us, the moronic American MMA fans who need action at all times during a fight otherwise we start crying like a bunch of whiny *****, he pressed the action and he paid for it. If Franklin would have stuck to his gameplan and been more patient... he definitely would have put on a better showing. But unfortunately... he let the fans get to him and it cost him deeply.

Anyway, I'm definitely watching the Strikeforce show. Nor do I think any of those UFC shows were really good, or at least as good as I expect the Strikeforce show to be, but I've also already viewed pretty much each fight from those UFC events, so why would I want to watch them again over something new, especially if I had the desire to so I could just look that shit up right now? Makes little sense, and I was actually hoping the UFC was going to counter program with something better than that. But oh well. I don't think there's anything the UFC could have done to make me not tune into the Strikeforce show to be honest. Fedor for free, and Mayhem vs. Shields? Pssh... serious MMA Event of the Year contender come November 7th, and I for one cannot wait.

Exactly! He should've stuck to his gameplan and it wouldve been a different story.Thats one thing I hate about UFC events when fans start booing over a good match. Americans only wanna see is a slugfest. I mean who doesnt enjoy when fighters throw hands, but come on. Thats why many thought Machida was a boring a fighter because he was smart to go out there guns blazing, now many are on his nuts after 2 fucking ko's. But thats another discussion.

It definetly is a better watch then the UFC special. Plus the only fight on that program worth watching is Randy Coutore against Antonio Nogiuera. UFC should've at least came up with a fight night card. And its a pretty much a stacked card with Fedor, Rogers, Shields, Miller and Gegard Mousasi is fightin too!

Well considering I've already watched the UFC events, I'd be watching the live show if i wasn't going to be driving for eight hours. Sadly I already had a road trip planned when the Strikeforce event was announced, but it'll be available online by the time i reach my destination, so I'll just have to avoid the spoilers. Anyway, The Strikeforce show just seems like it'll be better overall, not to mention its live as opposed to a replay. I enjoyed BJ v. Kenny the first time, as well as Vitor v. Rich but why am i going to spend my time watching events that I've already seen, especially against a loaded card featuring the top heavyweight on the planet, and Shields v. Mayhem? This one's a no brainer for me.

I think that the Strikeforce card is definitely worth watching on Saturday night, moreso than what the UFC is running. For the most part, I thought Penn/Florian wasn't as good as it should have been, and Griffin/Silva was an absolute joke where Griffin took the absolute wrong gameplan into the fight and got embarrassed.

UFC 102's co-main event had Thiago Silva make Jardine look silly and then an awesome fight between Couture and Nogueira which is a definite contender for fight of the year.

UFC 103's co-main event showed that Cro Cop is done, and that Vitor Belfort is definitely back.

There were some exciting knockouts, and a classic between Couture and Nogueira, where if nobody saw those fights, then they should definitely check out what the UFC is running... especially if you're not so much of a hardcore fan, and more of a casual MMA fan.

The Strikeforce card should definitely be watched by guys who are more hardcore fans of the sport, and have seen the above fights to begin with. Gegard Mousasi may be the third best light-heavyweight in the sport right now, behind Machida and Shogun. His fights are an absolute treat to watch, and Sokoudjou is someone who has failed to meet expectations. His last two wins are against one guy who is a career 2-6, and the other was against Bob Sapp. And the way I see it is that Babalu beat Sokoudjou earlier this year. Mousasi made quick work of Babalu, therefore, Mousasi should destroy Sokoudjou.

Mayhem Miller and Jake Shields are two very talented Middleweights that should put on a great fight for the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship. Both are submission specialists, and it should go all five rounds, back and forth.

And then there is Fedor vs. Brett Rogers, and I personally think that it should be a lot of fun to see how Rogers performs. I think the potential is there for Rogers to pull off a major upset, just because he's got so much power behind his punches. I think the chances of it actually happening are slim to none, but it could happen, and that's what makes this fight so exciting for me.

Ill be heavily watching Strikeforce, since I already seen the past UFC events. As for the ratings battle for the night I think UFC will win early in the night but once the main events start SF will kill it. I think it will be more interesting to see if Fedor can draw more than Kimbo on CBS!!

The UFC would've been better of to bump their UFC 105 card that airs on Spike Nov. 13th to the 7th to really compete with them. With Couture on that card they might have had a shot to beat SF since he is one of their biggest draws, doesn't hurt that Bisping and the Hardy/Swick are on there either.
