Next Big Hollywood Star

Hulk Hogan started it all by entering into hollywood and The Rock followed it to become the greatest star in Hollywood. So who do you thing the next wrestler will be to make it big in the Hollywood...Thoughts..

I think WWE even though bigger, is not as popular as the time Hogan and Rock got their break. The Rock also had the right opportunities. Then again, it may just come to the individuals, it take a very special guy to be able to break into hollywood. Quite frankly, I don't see that guy in the current roster.

Batista, Edge or John Morrison might be the closest at the moment, just because they are at least involved in acting right now and have regular parts. Batista even in a big budget Hollywood movie, similar to The Rock's early roles. Stone Cold has had some Hollywood parts as well.

Whether or not they become huge Hollywood stars? Probably not. And even if they did, aside from Austin, who is really only doing it part time, they were never as big in wrestling as Hogan or The Rock so it wouldn't be the same. Batista would probably be the closest to potentially breaking through... though, he might have an acting career similar to Kevin Nash's.

I guess it's not impossible to think that in 2-3 years John Cena moves into semi-retirement from the ring and ends up doing more acting. He's done some WWE films and is obviously the most popular mainstream star on the roster... so like The Rock, he brings a pre-established fan base with him.

Let's not overstate Hogan's acting career though. It wasn't very good. Aside from his cameo in Rocky III... all of his lead parts were B movies. Vince marketed him like he was a Hollywood star... and Hogan is excellent at re-writing history, wanting you to believe he was more successful in acting than he actually was. No one even comes close to what The Rock has accomplished. He's actually an A-list actor and consistently one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. It's amazing how much this man has accomplished in his life.

lol Hogan wasn't a hollywood actor.

Hogan was a D-level actor.

Rock transcended the industry. He made it big because of his natural charisma, his nice personnality and because he was extremely popular in 2000.

In 2000, he was one of the biggest pop icons in the world.

Honestly, I don't see anyone becoming a big star in Hollywood in the roster. Maybe Cena? I'm not sure.

You either need to be a great actor with experience or just to be a huge draw.

Rock is the second one and considering nobody in WWE is really that big of a draw, I don't see anyone becoming a star in HWood

i dont even think of hogan as the first. i think Roddy Piper when i think of the first. i thought he was a decent actor, better than Hogan. The Rock had the look and personality, and stuck with it even after several shitty movies. I do not see anyone who could break through in Hollywood on the roster right now. ive got some bad news, maybe Barrett covld be the man. ha idk

Did anyone ever see Wades movie Dead Man Down? Well when I say his movie, I don't mean he was the lead role in it. Anyway, although his role wasn't big I actually thought he done quite well in the movie and the movie itself was quite good, despite the Miz/Wade movie storyline made it look like it was going to be terrible, the movie, and Wade, should of got more praise than it did.

Also, on topic, Miz has been doing quite good for himself in the movie/tv industry, not on Rocks level, but still...not bad!

Batista is clearly next - he is going to be part of the Marvel movie juggernaut. Even if Guardians Of The Galaxy is the biggest gamble in it, it's got BIG name actors in it. Dave isn't the best actor in the world, but he's now worked with Russell Crowe, Benicio Del Toro, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel (albiet voice for the latter). For the right roles he will quickly become a go to guy...

Dwayne started off weakly, but once he began working with guys like Chris Walken then Travolta, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Vince Vaughn (all in one movie) he learned well. Looking at Batista in that awful first film he did with RVD to The Man With The Iron Fists is a totally different guy. Most importantly, is working with directors who get what they could do.... so it's not "casting a wrestler" but the role is tailored to their strengths. That's why The Rundown worked so well, cos Peter Berg "got" the Rock and wrote to his strengths... It's why They Live was so good cos Carpenter could make Piper's "failings" as an actor part of the story and tailor the film to accent his strengths - 10 minute streetfight with suplexes and cutting a promo on the aliens...

The one NO ONE mentioned is Robert Maillet - Kurgann... He's arguably the most used "monster" in Hollywood right now, having been in movies such as Sherlock Holmes, Pacific Rim, Mortal Instruments etc... Sure he's not a leading man but the movies he has been in have made more than Hogan's entire career to date...

His first role got him in magazine covers so I don't think he started out weak. I do think there was a period where he was cooling off around the later part of the 2000's with movies doing ok at the box-office and critics but after his role in Fast Five it gave him a good boost in his career.

Though to answer the question who will be the next Hollywood star, I say no one right now. Dwayne Johnson broke through Hollywood but he's been the only one that's been able to do so and become a Hollywood mainstay. Not even Hogan could do that (if he did he wouldn't have signed in WCW).

Right now I can see guys like Austin, Miz, Batista, and Cena get some minor supporting roles or leads in some low budget or straight to video action movie.

If anything I think the closest one I see who might have a decent future in movies is Jeff Jarrett. He had a small role in Spring Breakers but I thought he was good in what limited time he had.

It's the best clip I can find. Ignore the beginning and end and the background music that doesn't belong in the movie.

The Miz already has some acting experience under his belt. He was in The Marine 2 and in Christmas Bounty. He also has some recognition being a Superstar in WWE and on The Real World on MTV. There's no denying he has a natural charisma and a good talker and he's probably one of the best actors on the active roster. It might be something for him to fall back on if his wrestling career keeps going nowhere.

When I think of someone going "Hollywood", I imagine a delusional jackass assuming that their ability to sing confidently in the shower is something that a producer would obviously want to throw money at.

In regard to that definition; I can safely assume that Scott Steiner, John Cena and Batista have all gone "Hollywood".

Who do I think would actually perform roles outside of their comfort zone and humbly accept criticism of their flaws? If he ever chose to branch out, Santino. He's been the WWEs version of Larry the Cable Guy for longer than any other performer could have lasted.
