Foley was part of one of the biggest (if not the biggest) shifts in wrestling history when everyone turned from WCW to watch him win the WWF World Title. He is also responsible for the single biggest spectacle in wrestling history. However, in a one-on-one match-up, Backlund would absolutely destroy Foley.

Gotta go with Mick here. Backlund's a better wrestler, but Foley don't quit. In terms of crazy, I'd say Foley was a tad more unhinged longterm. He guts one out against the odds.

Mick thrived in matches against opponents who would gas themselves trying to hurt him past his non-existent breaking point.

Bob was a professional through and through and would take an opportunity to win whenever it presented himself, and he would want his opponent to be able to shake his hand afterward.

You can't break Mick's threshold for pain, and you can't break Bob's spirit. Mick will be trying to break Bob's spirit, but Bob won't be trying to break Mick's threshold for pain.

Vote Bob Backlund.

Foley, against all odds, managed to have a day in the sun over some of the best wrestlers ever. Backlund may have spent much longer at the top, but against much weaker competition and without having to get a totally different niche over. Foley wins.

Backlund here, and it was a no brainer. On top of being one of wrestling's leading box office draws in the late 70's and early 80's, he was able to totally reinvent his entire persona in the 90's. Fans that gave Backlund flak for being one dimensional in the 70's would have been in awe of the man if they could see his great heel work in the 90's.

It really does seem like he's lost his damn mind.

Speaks volumes about the man when he could rule the wrestling world for 4 years and then come back a decade later and defeat wrestling's biggest star Bret Hart for another world title.

Vote Backlund. Anything Mick Foley did, Bob Backlund did it better.

Kevin Nash says hi.

Foley would not have been pinned in 8 seconds in any universe.

Vote foley.

The original plan was for Bob to hold the title for a year then drop it back to Bret. Instead he went along with the plan to put Nash over when the WWE needed him to look strong. When Diesel hit the power bomb he even went as far as to crawl from the ring all the way back to the dressing room. He wanted to make sure that Kevin got over, and he did.

Mick had to be bashed in the head a dozen times with a chair and thrown from a cage to accomplish the same things. Bob didn't have to damn near kill himself in order to get his opponents over.

Bob wins.

Yeah, Backlund. He wins in every department except for car crash nostalgia. Bob never had to destroy himself to get over & did not need a charismatic Samoan to keep him relevant.

I have a soft spot for Mick, but nothing tells me he beats Backlund in a straight up match.
