Going on 10 years with WrestleZone
The time machine is still runnin', and now we are in 1981 and looking at the year in film. One of the more significant events this year was the unfortunate death of Natalie Wood. The Miracle on 34th Street star died at age 43 in an unfortunatelt drowning accident off Santa Catalina Island.

Kathleen Turner, star of Body Heat, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Peggy Sue Got Married, debuted in 1981, as did some lil' guy named Tom Cruise who debuted in Brooke Sheilds' "Endless Love."

A major event of 1981 in film was the recreation of the action adventure epic, as Raiders of the Lost Ark launched Harrison Ford to uber stardom as Indiana Jones. ROTLA was the top grossing film of '81, making $209,562,121.

Kurt Russel made Escape from New York, starring as Snake Plisken, playing opposite villain Donald Pleasance. Pleasance had a big year, also reprising the role of Dr. Loomis in Halloween 2, which picked up where Halloween left off.

1981 was a huge year in horror, with Halloween 2 coming out along with Friday the 13th Part 2, The Evil Dead, and The Howling. The original "My Bloody Valentine" also came out in '81.

In comedy, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and John Candy starred in the army film "Stripes." A memorable horror spoof of the line of slasher sequels also came out, as "Saturday the 14th" debuted with the tag line "just when you thought it was safe to look at the calendar again..." Oh boy.

Chariots of Fire won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Notable released included Body Heat, Cannonball Run, Arthur (which eanred Dudley Moore significant accolades), Excalibur, Das Boot, Heavy Metal, and Superman 2.

A few notable 1981 births included Elijah Wood and Hayden Christiensen. '81 was also a great year in future hot chicks, as Britney Spears (meh), Jessica Alba (hot), Jennifer Hudson (hot) and Natalie Portman (hot) were all born. That makes them 28 right now, and still, HOT.

Good review but Im surprised you left out the orginal Clash of the Titans from your list of films that came out also you left out Disney's The Fox and the Hound if you were born around that time you definitely saw those two movies

As for people born in 81 and you started naming some pretty hot girls but forgot about Adriana Lima, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Anna Kournikova, and Sienna Miller.
