I know I am not the only one who has searched the web far and wide to find new bands to listen to. I do not care for 90% music over the radio here in canada. I dont care for dance beat "hip hop", party rock, and whatever disney is putting out.

So i wanted to start a thread where people can post their favorite bands, and then recommend bands that they think people may have never heard of. Likewise, people can come in and post a band and ask for other bands who they may like based on the original band.

My friends used to always come to me to ask for new bands to listen to.

So, here are some of my favorite more popular bands that fit into atleast partially the same category. Then I will list some bands that I have discovered that fit the same genre. Artists listed under "artists" are the ones that are well known, ones listed under "If you like those" are bands you may never have heard of

Artists
Linkin Park (old stuff)
Breaking Benjamin
Trapt
Three Days Grace
Rev Theory

If you like those bands you may like
Plan 3
Bulletproof Messenger
Dry Cell (no longer together)
Band With No Name
Digital Summer
Faktion
Revis (recently reunited)

Artists
Disturbed
Stone Sour
Avenged Sevenfold
All That Remains
Mudvayne

If you like those bands, you may like
The Confession (No longer together, for fans of A7X)
Stereomud (no longer together, new band called Dangerous New Machine)
ANewRevolution
Five Finger Death Punch

Im at work so having issues with thinking of bands, so im sure ill add more. Feel free to make your own comparisions, or add new ones to the current list.

Artists
Four Year Strong
A Day to Remember
Set Your Goals
Attack Attack!

If you like those bands, you may like
Close Your Eyes
We Came As Romans
Parkway Drive
The Devil Wears Prada
Woe, Is Me

It really all depends on what your taste in music is, Judging by your list your more of a rock-hard rock kind of guy, throw some metal in their to liven things up. I'm very much like you, I hate most of the crap that the radio dishes out nowadays. I'm very picky when it comes to my music, I'm very Rock orientated rather suggesting what your doing.. I'm just gonna list bands.

Cage The Elephant
Thousand Foot Krutch
Shinedownis good
Seether
FozzyChris Jericho is the lead singer so that's worth checking out
Our Lady Peace My favorite band,Check out their older stuff before the new stuff as the older stuff tends to be more well praised.

I could list more but this is just the starters, If you like this then I'll recommend others

Just because you like a band I listed does not mean you're gonna like the bands I suggested but I tried to match up the first line of one category with the first line of the other category (if that makes sense, lol)

If you like:
Alice in Chains
Stone Temple Pilots
Filter
Guitar bands of the 70's
Satriani/Vai/

You Might Like
Red Line Chemistry (Just broke big with "Dumb Luck")
Talk Show (STP without Weiland, good luck finding the album anywhere though)
Army of Anyone (A different band that is also STP without Weiland)
Bang Camero
Fernando Miyata

Alice in Chains
Stone Temple Pilots
Filter

Thanks man, will be sure to check out those new bands. Green rep for you when I am able to give you some!

Bands I Like That Are Probably Relatively Unknown;

Die Antwoord (South African Rap Trio)
Dresden Dolls (Piano/Vocals & Drums Duo)
Last Shadow Puppets (The lead singer of Arctic Monkeys Side-Project)
The Agonist (Similar to The Devil Wears Prada, but with a woman)
Dommin (Gothic/Rock Band)
Horrorpops (Rock Band, fronted by Vocalist/Double Bassist)
Missing Andy (British Band)

Well, that's all I can think of for now.

Charred Walls of the Damned is a pretty solid metal band.

They have an early Metallica, old school metal feel.

If you like the NWOFBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal), then you probably know about the NWOTM that has arrived, bringing back the memories of these leather glad metal bands, with a similar sound.

White Wizzard, Stuka Squadron and Cauldron are two of the bands I think you should try out. Kinda like an Iron Maiden/ Judas Priest feel, loving the leather and singing about similar sorts of topics.

Check it out!

Thanks for those man, some pretty awesome stuff there, probably liked Stuka Squadron the best but they were all pretty good. I'd rep you but I need to spread first.

Anyway onto some recommendations of my own

Taking Dawn - For anyone who like good hard rock, kind reminiscent of 80's bands like GNR, Motley Crue etc but with a slightly harder tinge. I only just discovered them myself but they are fairly awesome, I'm seeing then at a festival soon and I'm getting there at 11am leaving my house at 8am just to be able to see them because there are on so early, gotta say something about how good they are. Anyway check them out.

Rise To Remain: This one is kinda out there for me, usually I can't stand anything with any kind of screamed vocals but for some reason this is different, I can actually stand this. The lead singer is Bruce Dickinson's son although you couldn't tell it with his vocal style. They have only released one EP so far but its pretty damn good, guitarist and drummer both have obvious talent, singer needs to decide whether he wants o sing or scream as he switches between the two far too often but he has got some talent there, obviously passed down from his dad.

I may post more but these are the only two bands that many people wouldn't know of that I like I can think of at the moment.

Thanks dude, I will check out that band you posted when I am at home and can have the sound on on the PC :)

I was actually looking for Stuka Squadron- Stuka Squadron (self titled song!), as the 1 to post, but that wasnt on YouTube, so I had to post the other. Glad you like though

See if you can find the self titled one, its quality
