Your favorite soccer goal ever

Ferbian

Has Returned.
Here's a thread for all us soccer fans, I'm certain you've watched your share of matches, and experienced an incredible amount of goals that had your draw dropping, or which you overall just enjoyed.

So now I ask you to state your favorite goal(s) that you have had the chance to experience, why was this your favorite? and potentially your reaction to it?

Zinedine Zidane, one of my favorite players of all time, when he scored this goal, I was a huge Real Madrid fan, especially due to him being on the team, alongside Raul, and Iker Casillas (and a multitude of other players as well, I was a pro Real Madrid fan back then, knew all the names yada yada yada)

This goal had my jaw dropping, it came very surprisingly for me, and I very well believe it was the winning goal for Real Madrid to defeat Bayern Liverkusen in the 2001-2002 European Champion's League tournament finals.

Another personal favorite would have to be this one

Can't really brag that I watched it the moment it happened, but knowing Roberto Carlos has never been one to fail when it comes to AMAZING goals, I searched for him on Youtube, and found that very one, I believe there's even a video on Youtube of a guy saying that he shouldn't really have been able to do it, implying that Roberto Carlos did the impossible.

And yes I apologize for the insane sounds of the commentators in the first video.

This is a real nice thread idea, Ferbian. Brings back some good memories and led to me watching a bunch of great goals on YouTube. Incidently, I completely agree with the Zidane goal. It was one of the thoughts that popped into my head when I saw the thread title. Anyway, I'm going to talk about three goals which are personal favourites of mine. I think they're all fairly well known, so you may well have seen them before.

Firstly, this absolute scorcher, surprisingly enough by sweedish defender Erik Edman.

Unbelievable. When Edman had the ball at his feet, no-one could have imagined what was about to happen. Hell, if Zidane had picked up the ball there, you still couldn't have expected that. The commentator says 35 yards, but I'm thinking it may have been more than that. Edman's defining moment of his career.

Next is this stunning piece of art from Paolo Di Canio.

Sorry about the long intro on that video. Anyway, you've probably seen more venomous volleys, and volleys from further out, but this is a favourite of mine because of the utter class of the goal. The effortless scissor kick from Di Canio is just beautiful to watch, as is the ball flying into the corner of the net.

Last but not least, this is my absolute favourite goal of all time. I'll admit that may be partly because it's scored by my favourite player, Paul Scholes, but it's still a fabulous goal regardless.

And there it is. I especially love the view from the third time the goal is shown, that being the second replay. It shows the sweet connection by Scholesy, and the ball curling unstoppably into the net. Wonderful goal, and my personal favourite of all time. I could probably keep going as I'm sure you could have Ferbian, but these three do the job.

From the king of spectacular goals, Matthew Le Tissier. Out of these 10, the bastard put 3 past my Newcastle, 2 in the same sodding game. The goal to look out for though is the long range effort against Blackburn.

I dont watch too much soccer. but I do watch some games and especially the world cup. My favorite goal comes from the 06 world cup game between mexico and argentina. Tie game in extra time and Maxi Rodriguez lets go of this beauty...

perfectly placed off the volley from far out. Cant get much better than that.

Definitely I could go on for quite a while Tiger, matter of a fact I'm gonna just pop one goal in here, by one of my favorite players (besides Zidane), been searching for a while to find something I considered good enough to be included in this thread, and I found this little beauty by Mr. Gerrard.

Beautiful goal if you ask me, very very talented midfielder, and the main reason why I used to have such an insane love for Liverpool back when I was a big football fan (which I should probably get into again.. somehow..) again one I have to admit I sadly didn't experience the moment it happened, but that doesn't mean we can't include them now can we? amazing goal.

Keep them coming people.

Ferbian, as a massive Liverpool and Stevie G fan, he does know how to hit them.

But this for it's significance and timing is my favourite ever goal.

Great thread Ferbian. Anyway onto my goal.

As much as I dislike Chelsea, I must admit this is one of the best goals I have ever seen. Its just looked so easy yet if you watch close you can see how hard it would off been to score. I've tried to do that and I know personally how hard it is do. An absolute amazing goal from an even better player.

That is one of my go-to videos in this kind of discussion, but as you have already done it, I shall put up an older goal. I think that it is one of the best goals ever scored, and indeed when the BBC were asking ex-pros their favourite Euros goal, they had to ask them their second favourite, because the support for this one was so overwhelming. Furthermore, Van Basten is criminally overlooked in covorsations about the best ever, probably because he retired so young and never won the World Cup. Anyway, this goal is incredible, and I think one of the best goals ever.
