As a long-time fan of the WWE and Wrestlemania, I have to say that I am unimpressed by this year's lineup and build-up to the 'Super Bowl of Wrestling'. It just feels sub-par to what should be a bigger event.
That got me thinking of what I would do if I were in charge. What matches would I book and how would I use the talent they have (and in some cases, talent they could have had). I thought it would make an interesting thread topic so here goes:
For the United States Championship:
'The Submission Specialist' Daniel Bryan (c)[/B] vs 'The All-American American' Jack Swagger - What I feel could be a classic matchup between two great mat wrestlers and in-ring performers. Swagger's casae could be that by virtue of being the All-American American, he, not Bryan should be US Champ.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match Yes, I would definitely have one as I feel they're making a mistake not including it this year.
Dolph Ziggler vs Evan Bourne vs Justin Gabriel vs Cody Rhodes vs Yoshi Tatsu vs Santino Morella vs Heath Slater vs TedDiBiase vs Chris Mastersvs Kofi Kingston
Behemoth Battle Royal - A match to decide who is the best big man in the WWE - 'Average' men need to apply:
Kane vs Mark Henry vs Kevin Nash vs The Great Khali vs Vladamir Koslov vs Ezekiel Jackson vs The Big Show
Tag Team Turmoil for the WWE Tag Team Championships - I would do my best to restore the tag-team division to its' former glory. A storyline would proceed whereby the tag-team titles would be vacated and put up-for-grabs at Wrestlemania.
Jimmy and Jay, the Usos vs The 'New' Cryme Tyme of R-Truth and JTG vs Los Aviadores - Primo and Tito Colon/B] vs Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas - The World's Greatest Tag Team vs Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins - ( call 'em New York, New York maybe?) vs the rightfully reunited Hart Dynasty - Tyson Kidd and David Hart-Smith
For the Intercontinental Championship:
Wade Barrett (c) vs Drew McIntyre - A storyline where Barrett and The Corre offer membership to McIntyre and attack him when he rejects the offer, making him a face in the process.
'Payback' Street Fight - Triple H vs Sheamus - The way I feel things should have been, the returning HHH sets out for revenge against the man who almost ended his career in a No-holds barred Street Fight.
For the World Heavyweight Championship :
Rey Mysterio (c) vs Alberto Del Rio - I would have had Rey as the champion in what I felt was a great feud against Del Rio (who I also would have had win the Royal Rumble). A battle for not only the Heavyweight title, but the status of Mexico's greatest Superstar as well.
Edge vs Christian - Another 'Good Friends, Better Enemies' type match pitting former partners against one another in a heated rivalry. More compelling in my opinion than the current storyline. A jealous Christian would cost the former champion Edge the Heavyweight Championship, leading to a revenge matchup.
CM Punk vs Randy Orton - I think I'll leave this one alone - minus the 'Superman routine' of Orton destroying The Nexus.
For the WWE Championship:
The Miz (c) vs John Morrison - A quality feud not given it's proper amount of time. A great match earlier this year should have been a sign of things to come. I think these two would have been on more equal footing than the current storyline where the champion appears to be an afterthought.
Superstar Dream Match:
'The Phenom' The Undertaker vs 'The Icon' Sting - The legendary matchup we could have and should have received. I would have done everything it took to get Sting into the WWE for this epic encounter followed by a year of additional dream matches, ending with a 2012 induction into the WWE Hall of Fame
John Cena vs 'The Rock' - The in-ring matchup would be terrific and preferable to what looks like a 'war of words' leading to little more than a recycled Austin/Tyson turnabout (look it up if you're not familiar).
That's my best shot, I welcome yours.
