Originally, I had thought about this as a decent idea but when you think about it, unless you start using a lot of crappy DQs and countouts, the final of the tournament becomes not just for a shot at the WZCW title, it is also for the Mayhem, EurAsian and Elite X titles combined.
Then the main event of Apocalypse essentially becomes an ultimate unification match.
So I've been hearing complaints of four of our top RP'ers (if I may be so bold) aren't going to be in the tournament and how this is punishment for them. That's simply not the case.
The Elite X title is about to get an exciting new twist that will give the title holder a unique opportunity to jump to the main event if they are able to prove themselves as champion. The Mayhem belt is also going to be getting a huge storyline in the future and Vega will certainly be rewarded for his work and his success. Kermit is quite proud of the Eurasian belt and we have plans to make it continue to increase in prestige after a great feud between K.O. and Titus. And lastly, Saboteur is going to have his hands full with a pretty hot feud going into Redemption.
Yes, we are going to be missing four guys that definitely have the potential to kick some ass in the tournament, but let's not forget that guys that will still be in there. James Howard, Celeste Crimson, Sam Smith, Blade, Izzy Stone... that's just a sample of people that have a great shot at winning this tournament and earning a title shot.
This has been proposed twice in creative, and I still think it's ridiculously dumb. First of all, we shouldn't have to tax our champs for entry into the tournament. Secondly, under this model the winner of the tournament is going to wind up with every title if they're always on the line. And thirdly, that takes away from the nature of the tournament. You don't enter this tournament and get a title shot by luck: you enter this tournament and get a title shot by earning it after putting together a string of wins and being the last man standing.
I understand why people are a little skeptic about what we're going to do about the other titles, but we on creative have it under control. We could just dump our entire plan on the table for you to see, but with the scale of the changes we have planned, we'd like to keep some things under wrap until we're able to implement them.

Yeah, I have to agree with Jiggles, let's just wait and see how it plays out first. All of our mid-card Champions are great RP'ers but we have a little more depth than that. Plus, we already have 20 people signed up for the tournament and there are only 14 spots (right now). As Harthan says, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Not gonna lie, vega is above the mayhem belt and has been for months now. Leaving him out of the tournament is a fucking crime. I know ko and shit are both well good enough, but they have people they can face a fued with.
I'm sorry, I was champ for 900 years because of luck. Vega has nothing left to prove, and to be quite honest Ace could be billed way above that.
People like jam, stone, hunter, thrash, blade, myself and more could be mixing it up. I remember when I was champ and people were improving so much that I had new people to match up aganst daily. Vega has nothing left to prove, and keeping him in the mayhem division, unless its his own doing, and that being the reason why he's barred Is a crock of shit.
I respect miko, kermit, and showtime. But they can all agree, vega has no reason to have that belt. This isn't a gripe from me, oh he's doing this and that. This is a gripe because the belt is holding him back.
I want to see harth vs vega smith vs vega, gm vs vega, that's the shit we can see. But if he's denied entry based on him being a champion, answer this question, what else is there for him to do where he is?
