this isnt a big issue; but i just cant stand WWE's rings. It just dosent look wrestling-ish. I cant take any of their matches serious.I like TNA's and ROH's but WWE's ring just makes the show look awkward. I liked wwe's ring back then but now they just dont shout out wrestling.

Also TNA Impacts ring is better too.

I think what WWE rings need is a logo or design in the middle of the ring. Because the inside ring looks so plain and boring. WWE's mat these days are so white and bright i just cant stand it. SO what do you think, dont you hate wwe's rings now. (NXT ring is good)
 
I don't see how they've changed in the period between now and what you define as "back then" (which is a mere 10 years ago), other than the ring apron designs, rope colours and the logo on the turnbuckle pads changing.

Maybe it's the transition into HD?
 
Um, I really don't see any major differences between the pics you posted. I don't watch TNA so I don't know what their ring looks like but honestly, it's just an apron and different color ropes.

Do you guys here at WrestleZone have an award ceremony at the end of the year where we can nominate this for stupidest complaint to begin a thread of 2012?? Because... wow.

Also, TNA's ring is significantly smaller than the WWE's and ROH rents they're rings for a lot of their shows anyways... meaning WWE's ring is literally the best ring in the business.

I'm literally shaking my head at this thread.
 
I guess there is something not wrestling ring-ish about four sides, ropes, posts, turnbuckles, a mat and an apron.

On a serious note, what the hell are you talking about?
 
ok i could understand if you were upset about the fact tna are know using a four sided ring again instead of the six sided one. but your not. and to be fair i'm not quite sure what you are whinning about. so please leave another post and try to explain yourself a bit more.
 
Well, the Raw is War apron was the signature of the Attitude Era. Times and designs change. I'm not terribly keen on the white ring ropes, but it doesn't make the ring look any less wrestling to me. Personally, TNA having other companies logo/advertising plastered all over their apron is way more amateur/bush league than Raw's current design.
 
I don't think I understand what you are asking. It's a ring. If you've ever been to an indy show, you'd know that all it takes is the ropes and the mat. The banners mean nothing. It's the talent inside the ring that matters. nothing more.
 
i THINK, I kind of know what you mean. But what i think is you just miss the "glory days" of wrestling and you relate the "glory days" with a different ring so it makes you think the old rings were better? haha if anything, for me, I just wish Raw had red ropes still. Doesnt feel like raw without them
 
fun fact: the rings in the 80's weren't square. they were wider across two sides by about 2.5 inches, technically making them rectangle, but barely noticeable (bet you didn't know that)

having been close friends with somebody who worked with / was apart of the roadies from 1999 to 2003, I can tell you that the ring hasn't changed at all. the only changes that have been made are to the canvas, the addition of the flexi-beam system and the stiff suspension has been altered and is now probably alot safer than it once was. the mats used in the late 90's were quite tough. now, they're alot softer yet more durable.

i don't know what else to tell you really other than the general appearence hasn't changed at all.
 
I feel that a logo in the middle of the ring would just look sort of stupid. I dont see what is wrong with the way the ring is currently...it's fine. Let's please be more concerned with what goes on inside the ring

TNA should never have gone 6 sided in the first place, TNA from 2002-2004 (When the change happened) was better than anything they do now.


On the OP, there is really not a lot of difference if any, just different colouring and different logo
 
When I started to read the OP the first thing I said was Huh WTF is he talking about brcause what difference. I knew the 80's ring was a tad bit wider but this ring has been used for so long. Now if you want to talk about rings not being "wrestling ish" WCW's ring was small real small. So small you could put three of them on an arena floor have a ppv and call it WW3. You can't do that with a WWE ring.
 
Seriously, WTF is the OP even talking about? Post a few virtually identical pictures and then bemoan the difference = No.

Don't just post that things are "different" and offer no idea of what you're talking about, explain what you mean or do not post.
 
Of all the things to complain about you pick the ring? The ring that looks almost identical? REALLY?! I don't give a shit about the ring, I miss solid storylines, blood, chair shots, and larger then life characters... That's just me though, maybe the ring is the problem<---(SARCASM)
 
WCW & ECW's rings were the coolest. They'd always have their show's/PPV's logo printed in the center of the ring mat.

This is one of the dumbest complaints about any wrestling fed I have ever read. Everybody in this thread is now dumber just from reading it.
 
Let's name off everything that's different between all rings shown:

1) Different Post Color
2) Different rope color
3) Different turnbuckle design
4) Different ring skirt

Why anyone would care about these 4 things is beyond me. You said you were OK with old WWE rings but not new ones? It's the exact same ring outside of the colors and ring skirt logos (and the turnbuckles have a WWE logo instead of a WWF logo). Explain to me your issue? You said you don't mind old WWE rings but they didn't have logo's in the middle either outside of WM12 and maybe a few other ones.

I'm just curious why this was such an issue for you that you had to take time out of your day to make a thread about it. I only commented because I'm at work and have jack shit to do.

I can't stand the sky being all blue and shit. Why can't it be green, or red, or yellow. God seriously needs to change that up, it just looks so stupid. Maybe if a logo was in the middle of the sky it would look better. Thoughts? Concerns?
 
WCW rings looked better with the huge logos on the mat I agree.

However...WWE rings seem so much more realistic and stiffer than TNA and ROH rings..TNA and ROH bounce like they're trampolines
