WWE/TNA Supershow

BEAST MODE, MOTHERFUCKERS
I dont know if this thread has been done or not, so I'll do it....

Considering that Ric Flair is going to be at the HoF ceremony this year, one would assume that WWE and TNA made some sort of deal for him to be there. One would assume this is the case, as WWE has never (as far as i can remember) allowed anyone from another promotion on their TV programs. Although Ric Flair is a special case, as IMO he's the greatest wrestler ever. But to the question at hand: Since WWE and TNA could agree on this, does this potentially open the doors to a WWE/TNA supercard? Why or Why not? and if so, what matches would you like to see between stars of the two companies.

Nah. WWE and TNA are both better when they are separate from each other and I don't think they will ever have a "Supershow". It was bad enough when WCW shut down.

WWE is an alternative to TNA and it should be that way.

The problem is it wouldnt be percieved as a Super Show. Fact is, most wrestling fans dont even know what TNA is. I posted this in a similair thread regarding Flair and the HOF, most wrestling fans I know dont even know he works for TNA, many of them dont know the company exists. When RAW is pulling its lowest ratings since they were head to head with Nitro in the pre NWO-Attitude era days and TNA cant even muster half that audience it becomes impossible to do a SuperShow.

I would have loved to have seen a SuperShow in 1986-87 when WWE was riding high at the height of Hulkamania and Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA were doing huge business, thanks in part to the success of the Sat Night wrestling show on TBS, the highest rated wrestling program on cable at the time. Both promotions were successful and fairly well known nationwide. Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors, The Rock & Roll Express, The Midnite Express, The Horsemen, Barry Whyndam, Nikita Kolloff, Vs Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper, Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, etc - would have made for a huge show.

Likewise if WWE & WCW had come together in the late 90s with Sting, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Hogan, Flair, DDP, Savage, etc vs Austin, Rock, Triple H, HBK, Taker etc it would potentially have been awesome. Today with TNA who do they have that average wrestling fans even know ? Yes they Have Sting & Kurt Angle, both known for their careers in other wrestling companies, Flair & Hogan, niether of whom should be wrestling anymore, and if he isnt in jail Jeff Hardy, who in his career is probably the least popular name anywhere in this post. Bottom line it cant be SuperCard if no one knows who you are.

TNA fans dont hate me, the lack of recognition for the product is not an indication of a lack of talent. Beer Money, AJ Styles, etc in my opinion are very hard working and talented wrestlers. They simply are not well known enough to generate real excitement in a cross promotion match.

TNA doesnt have near the name recognition and national presence the NWA or WCW had. Fans would not buy it as a SuperShow and quite frankly I think WWE would be giving them way too much credibility to even consider it.

A WWE/TNA supershow would never happen.

Reason 1

When WCW and WWE were competing in the Monday Night Wars, each company was on prime time TV at the same time, as direct competition. They were genuine alternatives to each other for the wrestling fanbase, and had big names jumping from one side to the other all the time, swinging the advantage to and fro. W

While TNA is growing all the time and has alot of big names, they are not yet seen as genuine rivals to Vince's empire, at least not how WCW was at their peak. The wrestling fans would not buy TNA as strong enough competition.

Reason 2

In a WWE/TNA Supershow, each match would require someone to lose...and why would either company want to see any of their talent lose a match to a rival company? Would Vince McMahon allow any of his superstars to be pinned by a TNA wrestler? Of course not. It would make his talent look second rate by losing to a wrestler from a much smaller organisation, even if the opponent was someone well known like Kurt Angle or Jeff Hardy. He would want his talent to be thought of as the best, and rightly so.

Also, TNA would not want to see WWE superstars beating their talent. Why make your company publically look like a second rate, smaller company by having your wrestlers lose to the WWE wrestlers? It would just ram home the fact that your guys are not as good as theirs.

Will never ever happen. I think the last thing Vince McMahon would want to do is acknowledge that TNA is out there. Would i want to see it? Sure i would but it ain't going to happen.
