WWE tag team champions Primo and Epico will be defending the tag titles for WWC, which is owned and promoted by Carlos Colon, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The April 28th show in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, will feature the WWE tag champs going against a masked team called Los Enmascarados Misteriosos. Primo and Epico's contracts allows them to work a certain number of WWC dates a year and WWE has always kept a business connection with Carlos Colon.

As low as the Tag Team Championship belts have fallen in the last couple of years, even I am intrigued by this. It's certainly not everyday WWE will let their talent go wrestle for another organization, let alone letting their Tag Team Titles be defended in another company.

What does this say about the WWE Tag Championships? Are they so irrelevant that the WWE doesn't give a shit? Or is the WWE smart enough to try and bring some value back to the titles by having them defended in another country? It's weird to me; this is the perfect opportunity for the WWE to help rejuvenate this shitty division. If some random team down in Puerto Rico wants a shot at the titles, then anyone and everyone should be after these belts. The only problem, I wonder if the WWE will make any effort into hyping this event. Or even mention it?

Is this a sign; could this lead to the Intercontinental or even the WWE Championships being defended in other organizations? Is it a possibility that if the WWE can work out some sort of agreement with WWC, we'll start seeing more exchanges/partnerships between the two companies?

All sorts of questions in which you can answer any of them in any order you want.

Discuss this.

I think its more of a show of good faith to Carlos Colon and a way to keep Primo and Epico busy. They were on Raw this week but they lost out to Show and Khali. You shouldn't have your tag champs losing to random pairings.

It seems like every time there is a potential storyline with them it falls to the wayside. Back before EC in the battle royal that was won by Santino, Primo turned on Epico and eliminated him(it may have been the other way around but regardless) and they had a potential for a decent story there. Then the Twitter storyline post Mania has gone nowhere. I have a feeling the segment with AW on Raw won't turn into anything either. So in that regard its good that they are doing something with the titles, even if they are going to a different promotion temporarily.

plain and simple, Carlos Colon is on good terms with WWE, he's a prospective future HOF'er, Father to Carlito(Carlos Colon Jr) & Primo(Eduardo Colon), Uncle to Epico(Tito Colon)

What does this say about the WWE Tag Championships?

They're relevant to fans whose interest was piqued. I might even check what WWC uploads on their YouTube (I think it's their official YouTube) or read their FB updates that for some reason feature pictures of porn stars.

The only problem, I wonder if the WWE will make any effort into hyping this event. Or even mention it?

Prolly not, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear something mentioned on television. Has this anything to do with social media angles involving the Colons and Rosa? I don't keep track of their Twitter accounts.

Is this a sign; could this lead to the Intercontinental or even the WWE Championships being defended in other organizations? Is it a possibility that if the WWE can work out some sort of agreement with WWC, we'll start seeing more exchanges/partnerships between the two companies?

LOL That's a pipe dream if I ever heard one. After all, it is the WWE we're talking about. Nothing exists outside their bubble.

Meh, purely a business decision. I read about it this morning but I can't say it interests me. As others have stated, Carlos Colon is on very good terms with WWE. Epico & Primo are family and they'll no doubt be superstars in WWC. WWE occassionally goes down to Puerto Rico and does shows, so this isn't really anything to get excited over.

If anything, this could be more about using WWC as a Puerto Rico/Latin American based developmental territory-good way to see how WWC talent works with WWE talent. Using Epico/Primo is a safe first talent, they are the tag champs so there's some exposure/prestige in using them AND they're familiar with WWC talent as they're related to Carlos Colon...

ok, im from puerto rico so let's clarify some things:

-about the facebook page showing porn stars...lol...they are promoting this summer as Verano Caliente (Hot or Sizzling Summer) with a series of big events starting this saturday with La Revolucion, Summer Madness and Aniversario 2012 their big event of the year...so daily they post photos for men and in some cases for women as a marketing campaign for their Hot Summer promotio . Its weird but this is not a normal company, believe me lol.

-I believe the match is a non-title match..they are facing two masked guys who for the past few weeks have attacked wrestlers in the locker room and in a parking lot..there was really not a reason for the Colons to be involved on this storyline, but let's see what happens on saturday.

-WWC is really an old school company with graphics that although are an improvement over recent year, still are like 10 years too late. But an improvement is better than nothing believe me. Business have suffered in the past few years since Victor Quinonez( the owner of then #1 company IWA) passed away. WWC has had a few chances to make a good run, but problem with wrestlers contracts and other few things have not let them established a good, year around fan base. But for the past few years, maybe since 2007 their biggest event of the year, Aniversario, has been established as a must attend event having crowds of around 4-5,000. In fact their 2009 edition featuring boxing great Tito Trinidad refeering the main event between Epico(under the mask and called La Pesadilla-The Nightmare) and Ray Gonzalez (the biggest star in the past two decades, maybe the biggest star ever in puerto rican wrestling) and Steve Corino defending the title againts 21 year old BJ drew a sold out crowd of around 9,000.

-This year has been rough for business, but things are coming along. They have created a big star in a young heel called "The Precious One" Gilbert who is a mix of a Ric Flair-Ray Gonzalez type of wrestler. Slowly he has build his own style and now is the Universal Champion defeating Carlito a month ago. They are building young stars and are starting a big storyline around Ray Gonzales, Carlito and Thunder & Lighting (the biggest tag team in like forever here) bases around their historic match on the Aniversario 2001 show when Carlito (then the young popular face) and Ray (the biggest heel in the company) tagging to take on T&L who turned on Gonzales. They also added Melina vs Mickie James and John Morrison to the show.

On a random note, that event was called Aniversario 2001:Septiembre Negro (Anniversary 2001:Black September), and the date of the event? September 8, 2001. Black September was only 3 days before 9/11 :\

-If you really like old school wrestling, and dont mind the graphics and the sometimes bad acting lol, WWC is really a good option to see on youtube. They upload their Saturday and Sunday's program the same or the following day. If for any reason, tune in to watch Gilbert. He may be a player down the line..Obviously, the program is in spanish.

oh an another thing.. Aniversario is running since September 1983, before WrestleMania and Starcade. This is the card for their first show, celebrating their 10th Anniversary...pretty packed card! The card drew a record that still holds to this day, around 30,000 fans.

It is almost assuredly written into Epico & Hunico's contracts that they get to return to WWC from time-to-time. Right now, of course, they are the WWE Tag Team Champions, so it makes sense they would take their belts along.

Whether or not WWE TV acknowledges this doesn't really matter. It gives the champs something to do, keeps both happy, maintains a strong working relationship between Carlos Colon, Sr., & WWE and doesn't present the least bit of trouble for anyone involved.

While I could be wrong, I am fairly certain Carlito took the WWE Intercontinental title down to Puerto Rico once or twice during his reign too. In other words, this isn't that out-of-line with things WWE has done in the past.

This just might be WWE's final nail in the Tag Team coffin! Theyre going to drop the titles at the WWC event and tag team matches will be strictly reserved for main event smackdown!!

Hopefully, thats not it! But i dont think its a big gesture either! Just a showing of good faith! I do think though that if smackdown ends with more singles matches, we have space for tag matches elsewhere, and that can only be good for the titles!

plain and simple, Carlos Colon is on good terms with WWE, he's a prospective future HOF'er, Father to Carlito(Carlos Colon Jr) & Primo(Eduardo Colon), Uncle to Epico(Tito Colon)

exactly. there are how many indi promotions in the States itself that this could happen in and isn't. this speaks volumes about how little the wwe cares about the tag division. it was never their highest priority but they last few years, they really seem to care less and less each week. would they let any other title be defended in this way? would you see Punk show up in ROH and defend the wwe title there? considering some of the great singles wrestlers that came from tag teams, you would think that wwe would promote tag wrestling more. the really sad part is you look bad say 5 years ago, there were 8 different titles (wwe/world/US/IC/Divas/Womens/Tag/Crusiers). since then, they have dropped the Crusiers and merged the Divas/Womens meaning only 6 titles - still more than one company needs but not as bad a a while back. realistically, there is no reason why the tag division shouldn't be promoted. Swagger and Ziggler seem to be in a holding pattern - make them a tag team for the next year or so and give them something better to do than lost to Santino. could do that with a lot of guys and have a division. we don't need a million midcarders. either that, or drop the division since they don't seem to need it right now.

WWE does have somewhat of a working relationship with WWC since Carlito wrestled occasionally for WWC during his run in the WWE. Interesting to see that Primo and Epico are defending the WWE Tag Team Titles at WWC. I wonder how this will pan out.

My opinion is also it is a show of good faith to Carlos Colon. They are family, and will be huge stars down there. It would be cool if WWE talked about it, and showed highlights. It could become a regular thing, and at least the titles would be doing something. I don't think that will happen though, and will probably go without mention at all.

they wrestled last night, in a non title match as I explained. In fact they loss to the masked guys who I think are Thunder & Lighting. I believe they are mixing this storyline with the one I explained with Ray Gonzalez and Carlito.

Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Vince has allowed relatives of other promoters that he employs to work dates in the family territory in the past. The Harts and Bulldogs worked Stampede a number of times while being employed by the WWF.

The titles being defended is pretty cool. That's something you wouldn't have seen happen in the past, because there'd be too much danger of the belts getting hijacked... especially in Puerto Rico (there was an incident once where Flair had the NWA title hijacked, although I think it had more to do with the fans rioting than anything). With Vince really being the only game in North America, no ones going to want to get in his bad books by trying to pull a quick one on him.

They have a good relationship with the Colon's; and getting to promote the WWE tag champs on his show will give Carlos a good gate. Nice move by the WWE.

The WWE tag tittles going down their is huge for puerto rico's wrestling compnay. To WWE fans and others in the company they look down at these tittles and just go well meh w/e those tittles are useless but in Puerto Rico the fan base and wrestlers back stage are going like "this is the real shit, those tittle are from above i need to make this count". be promoting a cross over tag tittle for a small company like WWC is HUGE for buisness! great sells right there.

lol really? the tag titles impress someone down here? haaaa nothing personal but...no....it does not impress anyone..bigger stars have been backstage and bigger things have happened than having the 2012 version of the tag titles on the show...the first time someone brought the title to wwc, that was something big...I believe it was the US title that Carlito won from Cena...
