World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry vs. Big Show
The Worlds Strongest Man versus The Worlds Largest Athlete for the World Heavyweight Championship. Do we have your attention now? After Mark Henry rendered Big Show unable to compete for four months by crushing his leg in a steel chair, the 7-foot, 485-pound goliath returned on SmackDown and demanded a match with the now-World Heavyweight Champion. When Henry denied Big Shows demand, The Worlds Largest Athlete charged to the ring like a furious beast and brutalized Henry with punishingly painful punches. Even a sea of WWE security personnel could not stop the onslaught. After powering his way through bodies in the ring, Show viciously speared Henry, and then brutalized all of security personnel. When the World Heavyweight Champion tried to walk away with his title, The Worlds Largest Athlete chased him down. At first, it looked as if Henry was going to win the battle of the behemoths when he smashed Show into the ringside barrier, but The Worlds Largest Athlete battled back and chokeslammed the 400-plus-pound Worlds Strongest Champion through the announce table. With Henry incapacitated, Big Show was prepared to inflict the exact same injury that Henry used to put him out of commission. With the champions massive leg trapped in a steel chair, Show was ready to crush him from the steel ring steps. However, Henry was spared when GM Teddy Long emerged to stop the raging giant by agreeing to give him what he wanted: a World Championship Match as long as he did not injure Henry. Show agreed to Longs offer and now, the titans will clash on pay-per-view. At Vengeance, two massive men weighing nearly half a ton will collide with the World Heavyweight Championship hanging in the balance and only one will walk away with it.
Randy Orton vs. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes
A long standing rivalry born in a Legacy of hate is now all about Vengeance. At this Sundays explosive pay-per-view, Randy Orton will lock horns with Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. Many things have changed for Rhodes since he stood side-by-side with The Viper as part of The Legacy. The accidental facial injury Rhodes sustained at the hands of Rey Mysterio in January transformed him into a resentful force of brutal aggression. His dark path eventually catapulted the tortured grappler all the way to the Intercontinental Championship. Considering his vow that he will return the title to its former glory, a triumph over the Nine-time World Champion and former cohort would be a huge step in the right direction. Despite Rhodes success, however, victory is far from being in the bag." Time and time again, Randy Orton has proven himself as dangerous as he is accomplished, largely because of the volatile combination of his incredible skill set and innate ability to use his anger issues to his advantage. Together, these two attributes spelled agony for Rhodes on the Sept. 23 edition of SmackDown. After The Viper smashed him with the timekeepers bell an injury that left nine-staples in his Rhodes head Orton treated him to an RKO onto the announce table. Although the Intercontinental Champion suffered one of the worst assaults of his career, he refused to be overshadowed by the serpentine Superstar. In addition to costing Orton the World Heavyweight Championship on the Oct. 14 edition of SmackDown, Rhodes greatest blow may have been to The Vipers ego four days earlier. Following an attack on WWEs Apex Predator during his match against Mark Henry on the Raw Supershow, Rhodes placed one of his paper bags on his head in the ultimate act of humiliation.
Find out who will get their payback at Vengeance, this Sunday at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view.
