I'm interested to see how you would currently rank the top 5 singles stars in WWE. Along with the top 5 tag teams and divas. You don't HAVE to go into great detail (like I sort of did) about your rankings, but feel free to if you want. If we can get enough votes, I will total them up and see how they stand. We'll make the cut-off time 12 noon est.
Here's mine:
Top 5 Superstars
1. Brock Lesnar - Has he wrestled much this year? No, but when he has, he's dominated. Destroyed Big Show at the Rumble, ended Taker's streak at WM30, won the WWE Championship from Cena at SummerSlam in an unbelievably lopsided match. Retained in a DQ finish at Night of Champions, due to Seth Rollins' interference.
2. Dolph Ziggler - He's been booked super strong since Survivor Series, being the lone survivor in the match vs. The Authority. Easily had the best match at TLC in a ladder match with Luke Harper, reclaiming the Intercontinental Title yet again. He's so over right now that I think they almost have to have him drop the IC Title so that they can put him in one of the marquee matches at Mania.
3. John Cena - Like him or not, he's the #1 contender, and we'll see him once again face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Title. It's wide open how he can be booked from now up until Mania.
4. Seth Rollins - Mr. Money in the Bank has become the top heel in WWE this year. In my personal opinion, he's definitely walking out of WrestleMania the new World Heavyweight Champion, by cashing in after the main event. I think he's definitely ready to be "the man" and will have a nice run as champion up until SummerSlam.
5. Rusev - I've never personally gotten into this gimmick, as it feels very 80's and Nikolai Volkov-esque. But he is undefeateds and has obviously looked strong against everyone he's faced. So I think it would be ignorant of me to overlook him.
Honorable Mentions: Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Ryback, Randy Orton
Top 5 Tag Teams
1. The Usos - After regaining the WWE Tag Team Titles recently, The Usos are undoubtedly the best team going. They've had a lot of very entertaining matches this past year; their match vs. Rollins and Reigns at the MITB pre-show should've been a candidate for match of the year.
2. The Miz & Mizdow - Without a doubt, they are the most fun team to watch in WWE. Mizdow's "stunt doubling" of the Miz and mimicking him is hilarious and has yet to get old. I think it's inevitable that they break up and face off at WM30, but until then I will definitely enjoy watching every time this team graces us with their presence.
3. Goldust & Stardust - This is another team I would expect to split before much longer, as in this case, the act has worn thin. Cody Rhodes needs to be himself again and have a successful midcard career. Goldust is in the best shape of his life in his mid 40's and could also have one last good midcard run. Anytime between SummerSlam and WM32, I think this could potentially be a great feud - especially if they were to get their father "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes involved. For the time being though, they'll remain a decent team to keep the division from falling apart.
4. The Ascension - Even though they just debuted, I'll put them in this spot because the division is obviously not very strong. They have sort of an early 90s feel to them, somewhat like Demolition, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It will not be long at all before this team becomes WWE Tag Team Champions. I look forward to a feud between them and The Usos, where they likely begin their first reign at WM30.
5. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro - These are 2 of my favorite wrestlers, and I'm honestly just glad that they're doing something with them. Cesaro especially deserves to be doing something better, but this is an improvement from where he has been in the last few months. It's no surprise that these 2 work fantastically as a team, and if they were to stay together permanently, they will quickly become the best thing going in the division. I could easily see a triple threat match at WM30 between this team, The Usos, and The Ascension. One thing though, they do need a team name. I read that they are going to be called "The Masters of the WWE Universe." Being a He-Man fan growing up, I can get behind this.
Honorable Mentions: The New Day, Los Matadores
Top 5 Divas
1. Paige - This was her breakout year, winning the Diva's Title the night after WrestleMania. Paige has been nothing short of impressive ever since her main roster debut. She had a decent feud with AJ Lee that was at least watchable, which is more than I can say for most diva storylines. Despite being the youngest in the division, Paige is the best in my view. I doubt it will be long before she wins her 3rd championship.
2. AJ Lee: - Though her immediate future seems somewhat mysterious, we do know she is still on the current roster. Therefore, she's still very high on my list. When/if she returns from this hiatus, her character needs some tweaking if she's going to be interesting and not just be a reason for the crowd to chant CM Punk's name.
3. Nikki Bella: - I will admit that Nikki seems to have gotten better in the ring recently. While I think there are more deserving ladies to wear the Divas Title, she isn't a terrible choice by any means. Brie suddenly turning heel and being her valet after the "I wish you died in the womb" comment certainly baffled me. That's just purely awful laziness by the creative department there.
4. Naomi - I like that Naomi has gotten some tv time recently, in the whole storyline with her husband and The Miz. Her acting skills are definitely better than the Bellas, as she doesn't sound like she's just reading a script. I think this will lead to her eventually becoming one of the top divas and a title run in 2015.
5. Natalya - I look at Natalya as basically the John Cena of the divas division. What I mean is that she's always dependable to put on a match with anyone and they could always put the title on her if they were in a bind. Natalya has had some nice wins lately over Charlotte (who would definitely be on this list if she were on the main roster) and Nikki. It's been a while since she wore the gold and I think it's long overdue for her to be champion once again.
Honorable Mentions: Brie Bella, Summer Rae
