WWE Payback 2015: King Barrett VS Neville

One of the grudge matches happening at this Sunday's show features King Barrett taking on Neville. If these two were given 20 minutes, they could deliver a match that could tear the house down with no problem. They mesh really well together, as do their styles with Barrett as this big ol' tall, rangy street brawler and Neville as this stocky, yet incredibly agile & balanced high flyer. They've both scored wins over the other, but I think Barrett loses a little momentum if he goes down here. After all, Neville took John Cena to the limit last night and the ending of that match worked great in that it ended at exactly the right moment; while it goes without saying that Cena would have kicked out, Neville's performance was so that I don't think most people care that Cena would've kicked out and that they're willing to suspend disbelief and play along with the "what if" scenario regarding Rusev's involvement. Neville can lose to Barrett, clean at that, this Sunday without looking weak or losing any momentum; plus, he'll probably wind up being added to the IC title EC match at the end of the month to possibly even things up with His Majesty.

At least Barrett has won a couple matches cleanly since taking KOTR honors. As IC champ, he hardly gathered momentum or accolades by losing every match.....while somehow managing to not lose his title belt. At times, it was ugly.

Now, with both BNB and Neville on a roll, this match could amount to something. I agree with OP that Neville's performance against Cena last night gives him momentum that won't be stopped by a loss to Barrett.

At the same time, Wade's "title" is of a ceremonial nature; he doesn't lose his crown by being defeated in a match, so there is genuine drama as to who takes the duke on Sunday.

I wouldn't mind seeing Barrett win; he took it on the chin for the company during his entire IC reign and a few more victories would set him up as a winner again. He needs it more; Neville has plenty of time.

I never mind to see Wade Barrett in the ring!! And especially with someone of the quality and potential as Adrian Neville! A true talent's potential will be established and explode only when he gets a worthy opponent.

I'll be so ecstatic if Barrett picks up the win at the Payback PPV. But if they're gonna buildup this feud, I would've wanted Barrett to cut more promos and had more confrontations before heading towards this match. But still I'm anticipating a spectacular match against these two!!

Cheers!!

The king moniker will likely be as much of an albatross for Barrett as those darn I.C. title reigns.

I feel like I've seen this match before. Can anybody confirm this for me please!

Yeah I can't see Barrett losing. Barrett needs this win to get back in the title picture. Reminds me of early 2013 when he was feuding with Bo Dallas before he won the IC title.

I think Neville will move on the US title picture. Cena and Rusev have faced off 4 consecutive PPVs (including Payback) so it's time for them to go their separate ways. Maybe after the inevitable Rusev/Lana split happens, Neville and Lana could be paired together and he feuds with Rusev before finally facing Cena on the big stage for the title.

I really like neville as he is quicly becoming my favorite new favorite superstar! He has it all IMO and is very exciting to watch.. But Barrett does indeed need the win more so than Adrian does.

Barrett has been injured the last couple of years, has been asked to take it on the chin been asked to been put over clean and has done so graciously.. Its about time he goes on a bit of a win streak! I love Bad News! Given the time these two could burn the house down all on their own!

This could be really good. It probably goes on in the earlier half of the night as the 2nd or 3rd match. I really liked their match at Extreme Rules so it is cool that they get to have a rematch on the main card this time, and I definitely could see them putting on an even better match than the last one. As for who wins? Barrett needs the win far more than Neville, who is still brand new to the main roster. I know the guy has had really bad luck with his pushes, but why would WWE make him King Of The Ring if they were not going to push him? Neville has plenty of time, Barrett needs the win badly. Barrett wins in what I predict will be a good match.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
King Barrett will defeat Neville.

Very unsatisfying to see a non-decisive ending in a PPV match.

Both guys were looking so good and working so well that I figured on seeing a longer match. One of the good factors of Barrett's new program is that he can lose matches without forfeiting his crown, which makes it more feasible than his holding an actual title, which he loses if he drops a title match.

Instead, shortly after settling in and expecting 15-20 minutes of Neville's high-flying tactics vs. Barrett's solid mat wrestling, we get........zip.

If these two are to continue this program, I'm hoping for some real wins & losses.
