WWE In The UK.

Low_Ki

Former WZCW Tag Team Champion
Now is it me or is RAW a bit lackluster when they broadcast from the UK? Now I don't mean to be mean, but I was at Wembley in April for the RAW following Wrestlemania 23 and had high expectations. What I got was a 50 minute bore of a match between John Cena and Shawn Michaels. And last night, over-using Randy Orton in three matches and with no HHH? Whats going on? Does the WWE not like to send its premiere talent overseas? I just feel as though there are no suprise factors when they come over. In the US, at least there's an off chance (not much of a chance) but an off chance that a 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, a Chris Jericho or a Rock will turn up, but in the UK (even though Austin's kids live here) there is just no chance of that ever happening. The best live event in the UK I've ever been to was to a SmackDown event when Eddie was still with us, Kurt Angle was still part of the company and John Cena was actually being cheered. What happened to the WWE coming overseas, can anyone shed some light?

They can get away with it when they have the shows in England. They know they'll get a rabid crow whatever the actions like. And they are usually there just before a PPV. So the hype usually carries the show. They usually come before two of the bigger 'B' shows. Backlash is the post Mania show and you can vote at Cyber Sunday so that's why there bigger than the other redundant PPV's.

I know its been said a million times before but I just feel that without any decent competition (apologies to any big TNA marks) the WWE's product abroad has no substance. It's great that they are pushing Kennedy and Jeff Hardy into the main event slots and I'm happy with the way its happening, but I just can't help feeling that there is something missing from the UK shows that seems to be filled when they are back in the US.

Don't think I can agree with them being lack lustre, just think it's a coincidence that there are no comebacks or guest appearaces scheduled for when they're in england.

I'm a great believer in that a loud crowd it one of the most important feaures of an event and you always get that in the UK.

Was a shame there was no triple H. I do agree that's a problem. I wnet to see RAW in Birmingham during the HBK vs Hogan feud and neither of them made an appearance, just a video clip which was gutting. Did get to be part of the loudest cheers Christian has probably ever got outside Canada though, which was cool.

Yea any of the wwe isnt as good as the u.S shows like someone said before that no matter what the actions like in the uk the fans will continuely bring the noise no matter what. Now i whent to the show on monday in birmingham for raw in the NIA and its weird becuase when i was there it seemed like a great show but when you watch it back on sky it dosnt seem as good as when you were there. its mainly due to the atmosphere with being there live is what makes it good when being there like. It was a shame that HHH wasnt at the actual raw tape but for the guys who whent you will know but the guys who didnt there was a dark match at raw with HHH there against umaga in a street fight which i admit i thorughly enjoyed so he was there but just not for the actual taping.

I can't believe you're moaning about getting the Cena v Michaels match Low Ki, as that was one of the best matches in the UK.

Think about the poor saps like me who just watch the live shows at Manchester, as the main events at the MEN have been pathetic. I had to put up with the Rated RKO vs. Ric Flair 1 minute squash as a "main event" and HBK botching a DX promo. Plus, out of all the live tapings that I've been to, the only dark match main event that I've ever seen was the Undertaker vs Heidenreich at the first UK SmackDown.

I do agree that the UK shows aren't as good, as we seem to be taken for granted but I swear they always do the worst shows at Manchester.

Thoroughly enjoyed Monday nights Raw taping. No clean finish in the main event, but we did get a HHH V Umaga Street fight in a dark match after the show.

Agree that manchester shows suck, went to four shows on this tour and the Manchester leg was the worst Wrestling show ive been to.

i went to the Belfast show last night and the atmosphere was great for the most part. there were a few dull matches and the Kennedy Venis match was surprisingly low key. but the main event of Hardy and HHH vs Orton and Umaga was very well received.jeff hardy in particular got an amazing reception.

I went to one of the Raw house shows just after the passing of Eddie Guerrerro. A few of he wrestlers opted not to make the trip due to the circumstances, which i felt was fair. But the atmosphere was electric, even if the action was a little 3rd rate (it ws a house show, so what i expect hey???).

I do think that the WWE owes the UK fans a big PPV over here though. Summerslam from Wembly Stadium was one of the best PPV's i can remember.

I went to the Raw brand show in Sheffield on Thursday, and was right next to ringside. Anyway, after the show finished, I wandered over to the rampway to get a good pic of Triple H and Jef Hardy.
I have never marked out before as much as I did just now. Jeff and Tripper spent a good 20 minutes walking around the whole ringside and ailsleway area, shaking hands, giving high 5's and at one point I saw Tripper pose for a pic with a girl who promptly burst into tears.
I have never been Triple H's biggest fan, but when he walked over to me, pointed at me then gave me a high 5 i nearly went nuts. THEN Jeffcame over and nearly broke my little finger because as he walked past it got caught in his little armband thingy with holes in. Then Tripper came around again, and gave me another high 5.
Anyway, all I'm saying is that I didn't expect anything like that at just a bog standard house show, and I've always assumed that Triple H would be the kind of wrestler who finished the job and just left.
I'm just marking out really lol. I have touched Bam Bam Bigelow, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Goldust, Lance Storm and spoken to Chavo, Lex Luger, Nash and Sting, but for some reason this just felt even bigger than all that rolled together!!

Oh and does anybody remember One Night Only? That was awesome!! The Bulldog HBK main was electric and when HBK won and the fans started chucking litter and booing, I almost felt like I was witnessing history!! I also got to see Owen Hart in action, and Bret Hart Vs Mankind. Good times! :-)

Yeah that was a brilliant PPV. The only time WWE has delivered over here in my opinion. And that includes S.S. 1992. That's a terrible PPV only Hart vs. Smith & Warrior vs. Savage were any good. The rest was filler crap.

HBK vs. Smith was an awesome main event. The fans were ready to riot at the end. The Bulldog never lost in England. That is a prime example of jobbing with a purpose.

WWE always put on a second rate show when they go to england, i am staying in Canada atm but i am from the uk and the shows they put on here in canada are much better. I even think they put on better shows than when they are in america

WWE has put just as equally quality shows on in the UK as they have shitty ones. I have The Agression and the IYH DVD from the UK and they're both great but then I turn on RAW and it seems to be complete shit. I think it evens out.

Then you haven't seen the crap PPV's they've put out.

Insurrextion & Rebellion were always shit. Maybe you would get one decent match, but that's it. And really they were just glorified house shows. WWE never mentioned them on TV. They were pointless.

Same with One Night Only. Great PPV. But the only title that changed hands was the Euro title. And we all no how pointless that was.

On average the Raw's are crap, and we've never had an In Your House.

In Your House 9: International Incident. Call me crazy, but that was in General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia and it was on the back of my DVD. Just realised it was Canada. My bad.

Actually I seem to remember at the time the European championship was a new Title, (Remember Bulldog VS Owen in the European Championship final?? That was awesome!!) and I felt that it was something quite special. That didn't last long mind!!!

I was actually always excited to buy Insurrextion & Rebellion. I realize no (major) Championships changed hands, but some Championships did. I mean, like I said it wasn't like the W.W.F. Championship, or even the Intercontinental.. but the European title going from William Regal to Crash Holly made it to t.v. -- Same with the British Bulldog returning to win the Hardcore Championship.

Anyways, the reason I loved the U.K. p.p.v.'s (those two, anyways) was because they were always similar to the regular monthly p.p.v. line-up. I mean, I remember one that had a Fatal Four way, with Kurt Angle, Rikishi, Steve Austin & The Rock. Granted, Angle retained, & it was forseeable, but it was still a great match to see.

Also, I was a huge fan of the E.C.W.-C.W. invasion angle, & the U.K. p.p.v. (Rebellion) that night had Edge v. Christian inside a cage, the Hardyz, Dudleyz & A.P.A. in a triple threat, Jericho v. Kurt Angle.. & Steve Austin v. The Rock. That to me, was a great line-up.

I don't care about Championships changing hands, as long as the line-up is solid to me. And a lot of those p.p.v.'s, to me, were.

Same with One Night Only. Great PPV. But the only title that changed hands was the Euro title. And we all no how pointless that was.

Unfortunately, I've never got the chance to see this. I've wanted to, because I heard the Shawn Michaels v. British Bulldog match was classic. It was at one point on sale at a local F.Y.E. for $8.00 & I didn't have enough for that as well as what I went their to buy. So when I came back, it had already been sold.

Now, I don't even think that p.p.v. is available to order, anywhere except e-bay. And e-bay is outrageous with selective wrestling tapes.

I loved the European Championship, & the British Bulldog v. Owen Hart finals match-up on Raw was amazing! Its such a shame to see what they did with the European Championship, as it had a huge possibility to be just like the Intercontinental Championship.

The only downside though, was they never had the Bulldog defend it after winning it.. & thus it became an invisable Championship, so they most likely felt in order to get it back in the main view of the spotlight, they had to give it to the man who was next in line to win the W.W.F. Championship.
