    I voted for Daniel Bryan.

When he signed that WWE contract, hardly any WWE fans here gave the guy a remote shot of succeeding in the company, including some our most respected members.

However, Daniel Bryan since debuting in WWE has been the most consistent wrestler on the roster. He's great week-in and week-out.

He single handily carried NXT's first season, which is by far the best season NXT has and will ever produce. Then he goes on to have a Feud of the Year Candidate with The Miz, giving The Miz by far the greatest match of his career to this point at Night of Champions. I also feel Sheamus had his greatest match to date against Bryan on the 10/11/10 addition of Raw (a match that was also better than anything than what TNA's biggest pay-per-view of the year from the night before, Bound for Glory, had to offer). Moreover, his trilogy with Dolph Ziggler speaks for himself, and Ziggler is also another person who has had his greatest match to date against Bryan.

And this is all he has done in WWE this year, which doesn't count for everything, since he competed on the indy circuit for a bit during his "firing," with good matches against the likes of Shingo, YAMATO, Eddie Kingston, among others.

A couple of other things that make the case for Daniel Bryan: Headlined Summerslam and outside of Cena looked like the strongest member of the team, and was all the talk during WWE's biggest angle in years when Nexus made their first appearance on Raw.

The fact of the matter is, no one in WWE or TNA matches the resume of Daniel Bryan this year. He's been the talk of the wrestling World all year long, and it should end with him receiving the Wrestler of the Year Award from us at WZ Forums, no doubt about it.

This one is tough. Real tough. Tough enough that I may have to not vote. Every single one of them has my vote, really.

Kurt Angle - This guy is consistently a fantastic wrestler, and really is a diamond in the rust considering where he is. He's extremely good on the mic, and it always somehow seems to surprise me when he can wrestle with the same passion and aggression he cuts promos in.

John Cena - John Cena is consistently great on the mic, and is one of the guys who can consistently put on good matches with a limited move set. His feud with the Nexus has only added to how great he's been lately.

Wade Barrett - Wade Barrett has done fucking GREAT for being brand new to national television. The way he's able to pull off golden mic work to offset green wrestling in the face of pressure is seriously admirable. There's not one other guy who's been able to debut a professional wrestling career in the main event like he has.

Kane - His push this year has been nothing short of great. Kane shows everybody again that he can work both the midcard as well as the main event with the same amount of energy, and still put on a great show. I think the storyline with Paul Bearer has been a bit dodgy with Edge, but he seems to make it work.

Randy Orton - Randy Orton has a great style in the ring, and can put on great matches with anyone. He has an amazing "Hulk up" that can turn an otherwise boring match into something awesome. When people started comparing him to Stone Cold Steve Austin, I was calling those people idiots, but even I admit that the freaking RKO comes from out of nowhere and he pulls it off like a classic Stone Cold Stunner.

The Miz - The Miz had the most glorious rise to fame I think I've ever seen. He seriously went from sloppy mediocrity to super-stardom with one promo, and he's been able to be consistent with the amount of heat he gets. Everything that comes out of his mouth is absolute gold; it's one of those things that offsets otherwise sloppy in ring work.

C.M. Punk - I don't think I've ever seen anybody carry a stable of seriously, SERIOUSLY bad wrestlers and make them look almost as good as C.M Punk. If it weren't for the S.E.S., Serena would have been just another diva with huge tits, falling into mediocrity and "future endeavor" territory. Same thing with Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury. Like the Miz, everything that comes out of this guy's mouth has been gold, and he has the in-ring skill to support it. It's just rather unfortunate he hasn't been able to do anything of much interest due to the S.E.S. holding him back as well as injuries.

Sheamus - This guy knows how to get heat and keep it. It's really amazing to see new guys like this rise up from out of nothing and be eons better than some of the shit they've replaced (Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, etc.). This guy has an amazing moveset that looks absolutely monster scary, and isn't too bad on the mic either, considering his accent.

Daniel Bryan - This guy would be in the main event right now if it weren't for unfortunate decision making. His mic work is fantastic, and his in-ring work is absolutely God-tier in the company. His feud with Michael Cole was actually quite fucking good for, you know, feuding with a commentator. Because of that feud, Michael Cole gets some of the biggest heat in the WWE next to Vickie Guerrero, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up winning this award.

AJ Styles - One of the best wrestlers TNA has, right next to Kurt Angle, unfortunately booked in some pretty weak storylines. He's the second diamond in a world of rust over in TNA, and he constantly surprises me with how good he can be in both the ring and on the mic.

Miz got my vote, with his rise to fame in the past year. This really has been a breakout year for him, being the United States Champion, Tag Champion, Money in the Bank and finally WWE Champion.

Screw it, I'm going to go through this wrestler by wrestler. Oh yeah, it's happening. Look forward to it.

This hasn't even been Kurt Angle's most impressive year in TNA. He hasn't had the best matches, cut the best promos or won the most titles. 2010 won't nearly go down as one of Kurt Angle's best years. He wants me to back him for wrestler of the year? He needs to become part of a company that isn't consistently gash.

Cena had a terrific WWE title reign at the start of the year to go along with a terrific series of matches with Batista (who, coincidentally, is conspicuous by his absence from this list) but, ever since the invasion of Nexus, he's consistently bored me. Oh, and also his purple merchandise isn't anywhere near as good as his orange merchandise. I think that's where it all went wrong.

Barrett is constantly bouncing up and down in my estimations. Above average on the microphone, decidedly average in the ring. Frankly, I'm surprised that he's failed to become the first ever British WWE Champion. If he had that under his, um, belt then I'd be more inclined to give him my vote. An impressive rookie year though - no doubt.

Kane. Le yawn. He bored me so much that when I yawn, I do it in a sultry French accent. You know, to interest myself enough so I don't fall into a boredom coma. His promos with The Undertaker were easily the most cringeworthy thing this year - and it was a fucking cringeworthy year. No way in hell.

Randy Orton. Randy Orton, Randy Orton. More like Blandy Boreton, amirite? Orton's boringness has made me shed my closet Orton mark status. I think.

Miz, eh. I don't hate him as much as some people. I don't like him as much as some people. He's definitely had a very good year though. Aside from Punk and maybe Barrett, he's likely the best promo man in the WWE. He had a match of the year candidate - or is that candidates? - with Daniel Bryan. Evidence since points that more towards being Bryan's doing rather than his though.

CM Punk is a stronger candidate than he initially comes across at. He got buried and buried and buried and buried this year, yet still found a way to crawl out of it with dignity. The best promo man hands down. His promo against Mysterio's family, his promo in Chicago, his promo in the rumble, his Straight Edge Conversion promos. Nobody else even comes close. Probably my second place guy. That, and he had some decent matches with Rey Rey.

Sheamus. I like Sheamus. I'm really starting to run out of steam here. Really established himself and had an interesting run with the title. Not really remarkable enough to be my pick.

AJ Styles. Previously the best wrestler in the world. Went from being used correctly for a short period to - surprise surprise - being chronically misused. Still an underrated promo man, mind you.

    Daniel Bryan
Uncle Sam's Wrestler of the Year 2010

That I'm going with my boy DBD may be no surprise. Actually, it may come as a surprise. Lately, I've criticised him for losing momentum. But when you consider that he managed to initially build an incredible amount of momentum as "the guy that can't even beat rookies" then that's not very surprising. Even though - weirdly - I wouldn't rate him in the top three promo guys, his best promos have only come second to Punk this year. "You can't even escape a handshake!" and "You are not better than me!" are probably the two best single lines this year. He's had the two best feuds this year; with Miz and Cole respectively. He was involved in the news story of the year when he was released, and then the surprise of the year when he returned at Survivor Series. Every match he's in is golden. He's made midcard fodder like Ziggler, DiBiase and - dare I say it - The Miz have match of the year candidates. The dude is just a walking wrestling God. Yeah.

My wrestler of the year isn't on this list but if I had to pick out of the choices listed, I'll have to go with Cena. He had great matches with Batista early in the year, then got into a feud with Nexus which was one of the bright spots of RAW for the better part of the year. He had arguably the promo of the year last week and his year has been better than previous ones.

    P.S. Batista - WOTY

Who cares about kayfabe title reigns? I am voting for Kurt Angle. The guy who is so good that without even needing the title he can have more of the best matches of the year than anyone IMO. Who else put up three great matches against three different opponents (Styles, Anderson and Hardy)? No one else even had two. Daniel Bryan only had one in my book FWIW.

Pretty sure I nominated Randy Orton for this award in the nominee thread. But fuck it- I voted for Bryan Danielson.

I've been singing his praises for 4 years on the forum and I think that many WWE fans are finally catching on- This guy is flawless. He's finally been given his shot on the big stage and thus far he's delivered. He was the focal point of NXT Season 1 and is the current US champion. And let's not forget the whole firing and rehiring thing. Even the WWE couldn't pass on this guy, he's just too good.

I'll give it to Randy Orton. He has been an awesome babyface all year round and has come up as a definite alternative to the guys who do not like Cena. Its been quite a while since we have seen an antihero in wrestling.

Orton, Kane, Sheamus, Miz, and Barrett belong nowhere near this list. Cena, AJ, and Angle had so-so years by their standards. Punk gets credit for doing wonders with horse manure, but it has to be DBD. That said, it has to be DBD who has done nothing but impress since arriving on the scene. The man laid down competitive, entertaining matches with headliners he had no chance of beating like Jericho, Batista, and Sheamus. He was the highlight of the SummerSlam main event. He gave THE MIZ of all people a MOTY candidate. He's had competitive, crowd-pleasing matches as champion. And he's done it all while breaking the mold. Sterling transion to the big time and I have to give it to him for being the most consistent guy in mainstream wrestling today.

I'm going with jmt on this one... DBD has made every match he's ever been in as if he was retiring afterwards. You go through the list of names he's faced and tell me if they've had a better match?

Dolph Ziggler? (Maybe with Rey Rey but that Bragging Rights match stole the show)
    Ted DiBiase?
    The Miz?

He just knows how the bring the character out in some people. DBD FTW

That's DBD. It was just starting to catch on. Though I'm disappointed that Punk has got no votes whatsoever. Like Coco pointed out, he spun shit into gold.

I voted for Randy Orton. He had a great two months of being pushed to the moon as the top contender to the WWE title, and did a terrific job as champion after he finally won it. He defeated every top Raw superstar, several of Smackdown's top superstars(Kane, jack Swagger), and showed he could actually be the one to carry a match. A close second would be Daniel Bryan. But I went with Orton by virtue of matches with Sheamus and his tables match on Raw with Cena.

Orton getting any votes makes me a sad puppy. Has anyone actually, ya know, watched any of his matches? They're not very good. For me, this comes down to 3 guys.

Cena has had a great year. All of the Batista mathces were good, especially the Wrestlemania one. He may have run out of steam a little towards the end though. After that Sheamus cage match, everything sorta started going downhill.

Angle is also a solid choice. Had the match of the year, consistenly had very good/great matches with everyone on the roster, even the likes of Kaz. And the AJ matches at the beginning of the year were superb. Wasn't a fan of the whole Anderson feud though.

DBD seems to be the popular choice here. I wasn't going to go with him, but some of you may have changed my mind. He's been in the MOTN at 3 PPVs (Summerslam, Night of Champions, Bragging Rights) and is simply something fresh and different. That Jericho match on NXT was great and he beat the shit out of Michael Cole. Fuck it, he's my choice.

I'm going with Kurt Angle. The reason is simple. Angle's been active the entire year while DBD spent half of it on the unemployment line courtesy of WWE's idiocy.

Give me a break. Danielson got a two month break from the WWE and that means he has less merit as the best worker of the year than Angle despite the fact that Angle spent two months out of the ring following LockDown?

Absolute no-sale, friendo. Once again, you should stick to RPing.

Angle was out for a month. And is out again now. Danielson debuted in late February, his last match was in May 31st and wouldn't wrestle in TV again until Summerslam. I'm just saying Angle did more.

He spent a fuckload of his TV time out of the ring. He did not.

And Angle was out from LockDown until his match with Kaz. Longer than a month.

I was really torn here between the Miz and Danielson, as both had tremendous years in 2010. But the Miz is who I voted for simply because of his astronomical rise up the ranks, from a virtual nobody, a reality TV hack, he progressed throughout the year into tag team champion, US champion, MITB, and concluded the year as the WWE champion. Vastly improved in the ring, and gold on the mic.

Love DBD as well. I'm quite certain he'll be wrestler of the year in 2011 if he continues to progress and develop as he's been doing. But by a nose (no, not Triple H), I went with the Miz.

None, Davey Richards. Excelletn matches and has definitely filled the gap Danielson left when he transferred to the WWE, in terms of match quality of course.

I have to give it to Kane. He's been World Heavyweight Champ for 5 months now (longest World Title reign since Triple H with the WWE Title in 2008) and he's done something that nobody had ever done this year in by beating Undertaker 3 consecutive times on PPV.
