Wrassler, or MMA fighter??

The pros at my gym get some of the hottest women I've ever seen. I get nothing cause I'm not as good as them. You've just convinced me to go to the bar tonight and beat the ass out of some random guy.

which is funny since everyone always sits there and screams "throw the first punch"

Punch that motherfucker in the throat, I bet he doesnt scream anything after that

First punch doesn't always win, at least here. The guys who always talk shit out here are malnurished *****es. They live off of Pepsi and Burger King, so you can imagine how little their punches would hurt. Plus, they throw like my two year old nephew.

Anyway, I've never personally had a punch thrown at me at a bar. They always get in my face than back down when I just stare at them. My friend (the one who boxes) is usually the one who likes to embarrass them.

yea slim, check page on. I said the vast majority of time if stand up and start acting like shit is about to get muthafuckin crazy, people will back down 99% of the time.

Yeah, but I just like to avoid it all together, even them backing down. When I go out, I usually go to the bar thats 20 minutes away because it has a cover charge and they are too poor to afford it.

Well dude, this former MMA fighter is going to give you his two cents.

When I used to fight, it kept me in good shape. The comradarie was pretty good and the fighters were pretty stand up guys. You could fight without there being any tension afters. Hell, I even have a pic with a guy who whooped the shit out of me and still think highly of the guy. But the MMA game has changed. Ever since the days when guys like Tito Ortiz came onto the scene, promoters found it to be more lucrative to get into guys heads and to promote fights that would end up being like long feuds and such. I mean it's one thing to have your game face on for a bout, but to genuinely hate and disrespect a guy 24/7 is just not what I believe in. So I got out of the game. I was always taught respect when I trained in the martial arts. And it just wasn't there anymore.

But hey, you gotta go with whoever is more lucrative for you. I would go wrestling myself, even if you aren't going to be seen by millions of people. Beats the hell out of some jackass who tweaks your arm or leg too far on purpose because his trainer doesn't like yours. I wish you success and luck in your decision bro.

That right there is the biggest problem in MMA today, and all the new guys are following this route. I met Sean Sherk and he said that its only going to get worse and it pisses him off.

I watched the Ultimate Fighter tryout (the worst example of MMA today) and was disgusted. One guy knocked another guy out and then threw two more punches to the downed man's temple. The guy was clearly out so there was no reason for those two shots. Then he jumped up screamed and yelled "that how I roll." What happened to respecting your opponent, its a sport after all, and checking if they are ok?

I'd go with MMA. There's more money to be made, it's more popular, and you would be pushed based on talent, size wouldn't become a factor like it is in the Wrestling world.

I go 6'4, and 240 pounds, and I hate fighting. It's not that I can't, it's that I have nothing to prove anymore. Don't take this the wrong way, but smaller guys that want to fight me, I just see as them trying to make a name for themselves at my expense. I know in my mind I would crush them, but why waste my time. Chances are, I'll smash them, and I get made out to look like a bully in the process. Plus, I think it would be a hard time convincing a judge that the guy 6 inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter was the aggressor.

Sorry i hope you dont mind me asking Norcal but you said that you were small, is that height small or build small? Anyway MMA sounds pretty cool and it is ridiculously cheap so why not. I saw Randy Coutures training and it looked tiring as fuck, which is good I suppose. Good luck in whatever it is you choose to do though.

No I dont mind you asking. Im 5' 9" and 185 pounds. which is fairly stacked as far as regular people go, but not very big on a pro athlete scale, at all.

I don't think there is more money to be made. MMA isn't popular. UFC is. So unless you're in a big promotion like that, or to a lesser extent Cage Rage or Heroes then you won't make a great deal.

From a money stand point I wouldn't waste my time with either. It all depends if you want to learn to protect yourself, or gain a little fame.

Those guys make squat when you think about how long you have to train for a fight. Even the UFC is under fire for underpaying atheletes.

I have no sympathy. They could train to be a doctor or a something. At least something you can do once you retire.
