Would You Like To See TNA Do A Mall of America Show?

I've have been thinking about this for a while. Would like like to see them hold a free episode of Impact live from the Mall of America? Just using the names of Hogan, Sting, Bischoff, 3D, Anderson, Angle, RVD, The Hardys and AJ plus advertising it there and on TV for a few weeks I think they could get a big turn out. Plus the number of people who visit that place each day would lead to new viewers.

Also, yes I know WCW did this for there first Nitro. With all the TNA/WCW I can see people complaining that they are just redoing things WCW did. But really it is just a smart business move to gain viewers and get your name out there.

So...

Would you like to see them hold a show at the MOA?
Some other large public place?
Do you think they could pack the place or would it look empty and embarrassing?

Very good idea, they would easily get a ton of people there, as you said with the names they have, and advertising them all being there, and as you already stated the simple fact there's always people their anyways. Thy would def get some attn to their brand with people who prob don't even know what an IW is, or that said names are even still in wrestling.

I like the idea. I was at the first Nitro at Mall of America and thought it was great. The area they did it in wasn't huge, but with enough people and the right camera work, you can make it look bigger and more crowded than it really is. They just have to be careful not to film the random shoppers who pass by ;). If they advertise their big names enough in Minnesota (which is a heavy wrestling area), they're sure to get a decent turnout.
I actually wouldn't mind them doing some more outdoor venues for Impact or an exhibition show either.

at first I'd say yes, seems like a cool idea and would be fun to see... then I watched the Best of Nitro DVD and must say it kind of looked like shit, you could still see a lot of people who just didn't care, and also, like the impact zone, you'll get a lot of people who have no idea what is going on. When that happens, you end up with matches pandering to the crowd of people who don't know what is going on and who don't care.

I'd love to see that. I live 10 miles away from the Megamall and i'd get a chance to see TNA live. No matter how some things suck to watch live (like baseball), everything is better live.

I think it would be a great idea as well. The Mall of America is the biggest mall in america in retail space and has large areas where it could be held. Not to mention the mall gets over 40 million visitors a year from all over america and the world. It would easily sell out (not to mention all the people that would learn about tna who were just there to shop) and create a buzz. It would be great for TNA tv....thats why wcw picked it for its first ever broadcast for Nitro. With the amusement park there and the huge food court plus the 520+ stores and everything else the mall has to offer the wrestlers could really shoot some cool angles there and take it further than wcw did like have a brawl break out throughout the mall between wrestlers. Having some being chased or you could just have Eric Young wandering trying to find the ring for the whole show saying he was lost.

I also think this would be a great idea, but when (and ONLY when) TNA decides to finally get out of the Impact Zone and start touring every week. I think this is a fantastic idea if the Mall of America is the first stop along the (newly permanent) tour, but if their plan would be to have one (or two) shows there, then go back to taping in the Impact Zone, what's the point?

I suppose it could get them more viewers, but those new viewers would tune-out once they realized that Impact is taped in the same "arena" each week (and they wouldn't be able to see TNA live again for at least a while). TNA would make a lot of money from merch sales, etc at a show live from the Mall of America, but it makes a lot more sense (at least to me) to work toward the goal of leaving the Impact Zone behind. Another thing they need to do is start televising Impact live (at least every other week, like they used to), but I know that will mess up the "easy" schedule that the wrestlers & crew currently have. There's no sense in putting the cart before the horse, anyway. Baby-steps.

I also like the idea... I liked shows that are not in normal venues... Like WWE's tribute to the troops... And also when WCW would do the shows on the beach... Also, the Sturgis bike ralley shows were cool too...

To me, it's a fun thing to do here and there...

Sure, I would love for TNA to come to my home state of MN and do a show at the mall of america. I would go check it out, and then point and laugh when all of 100 people come to watch lol. Don't get me wrong, I want TNA to succeed to create competition within pro wrestling to create better products, but when TNA's Bound for Glory (TNA's wrestlemania) is comparing their attendance to a WWE house show a week prior in the same city, thats just sad.

Nope. Every single event TNA is to hold outside the Impact Zone should be charged for. Especially a live one. WCW did it for their first Nitro, but unlike TNA they had major financial back-up. TNA is trying to work it's way up and holding shows in large venues for free will not do them favors at all.

I'm never against TNA doing live televised episodes of Impact. Never. I mean maybe if they wanted to do one from the Hard Rock in Vegas, or wherever it was they were when Booker T introduced that awful "Legends" Championship all those years ago I'd be against it, but that's because that place was smaller than the Impact Zone.

So long as we're talking about an area that can fit an equal or greater number of people as the IZ, I'm fine with it no matter who had a show there in the past or not.

Any venue outside the Impact Zone is breath of fresh air for TNA. Airing Impact at mall like WCW Nitro did seems kinda cheesy, but if it will gain ratings then that is all that matters. I loved the Impact at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas years ago. Thanks for bringing that up IDR. The MEM angle was set and it seemed like a new era in TNA. It made Impact look major league instead of bush league.
