Would this gimmick work?

So i was reading a lot of posts on Facebook regarding Jon Jones. Everyone seems to have an opinion on this guy. He's liked and respected for how great of an athlete he is and he is disliked for being "overrated" and turning down a fight. You might be wondering why i am discussing UFC in WWE forums. My question is do you think a gimmick similar to how Jon Jones is in real life could actually work in WWE? They could have this young superstar come in. Nobody really knows what to expect. He gets an impressive win in his debut against a midcard talent. He continues to have these impressive victories slowly making his way to more established opponents. The entire time being a very soft spoken and humble superstar. Always saying how blessed he is and how he respects his opponent. Leading to him being a tweener. Kind of similar to Jon Jones in real life as well as Cena he can come off as phony and people will get tired of his cheesy over the top kindness. And just like Jones start to have him go over on main eventers. Both faces and heels to continue him as a tweener. Then as time goes on have him get a little cocky, continue to have him be soft spoken but have him declare that he is unbeatable. Then put him in a storyline with Cena. This is why i'm calling it a "Jon Jones gimmick", have him back out of the match with Cena. The fans will of course react negatively and his character will seem like an overconfident coward. This making his switch to heel. He could constantly walk out on matches but still believe he's the best. He could even call him self undefeated and say he has only loss by count out, never pinned or submitted that no superstar could ever beat him.

Let me know what you think. The idea just randomly hit me.

No because the cons of Jon Jones is that he isn't as spectacular to watch as Anderson Silva and GSP. He is very dominant but he is dominant in a boring way. Just like the Klistchko brothers in boxing. You can't build a gimmick around that idea. Nope.

There are good ways of pissing off the audience and bad ways of pissing off the audience. Consistently backing out of main event level matches is a bad way to piss off the audience. I know the card is subject to change but this is going way too far and will alienate people to the point they feel cheated by WWE, not the wrestler.

Weren't they already having Sandow walk out of matches and refusing to compete because he wasn't going to lower himself? It's kind of the same thing. CM Punk walked out in Chicago before the champion vs champion match. It's just cheap heel heat. I don't really see the need to build a whole character around it.

Sounds almost like The Miz going 5-0 against Cena over a period of weeks because Cena was out of action for some reason... Undefeated :lmao:
