Will the Go To Sleep come to the WWE?

For those who haven't heard, WWE has taken an interest in both KENTA and Prince Devitt, of course, stopping by NXT first. There's no word on if this is true or not, but given the timing and the severity of the Punk situation, it looks like WWE's looking to replace their previous Go To Sleep user with the move's innovator himself. This could also be WWE's retaliation to the American Wolves not signing with them.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Personally, I look forward to this. While I haven't seen much of Prince Devitt, I have seen a few of KENTA's matches in ROH and AAA. The guy's got a lot of power behind his kicks and if he can manage to break into the WWE while keeping that power, I think he'll get over very well.

Of course, there's also the fact that one of the two could end up taking over the Sin Cara role, if the WWE still wants to go about it that way. Either way, I'm definitely interested.

Oh yay, another CM Punk related thread. Cool. I don't know if they would have limited the use of the GTS to begin with since there are several finishers out there that are used by many superstars(chokeslams, powerbombs, piledrivers, spears, etc). So I doubt Punk's absence would have anything to do with it. But, if they did decide that only one person can perform it, then Ryback already called dibs on it via twitter.

Wow. I could only hope they give Ryback the go-ahead to do this. The fans crap all over Ryback with the Goldberg chants, so him doing the GTS would be a hilarious way for him to troll them right back.

the go 2 sleep has been a part of wwe since cm punk debuted...

But I know u were actually talking about KENTA possibly coming over...

in all honesty...I don't like the idea...who in the wwe works that style of a match?...and would the casual fans care?...

the answer is no...we know him...but little census in the front row is wondering why in the world that midget is kicking r-truth so hard...

yeah harsh but true

To get them started, I would put them with the Real Americans. Antonio Cesaro has traveled to Japan plenty of times, so I'm pretty sure he has found some kind of way to blend both styles well enough to work a decent match. Seth Rollins has actually teamed with, and I do believe, faced KENTA on occasion in ROH and Japan, so he could be another guy to put with them. And of course, there's Daniel Bryan. The two of them have had wars in ROH and know what to do. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that KENTA may be Daniel Bryan's equivalent, and if he can connect with the audience enough, he could find a lot of success in the WWE.

Joke thread... just as there are only really a fixed number of chords with which to write a song, there are only so many variations of moves... Ryback's tweet had a modicum more sense and humor...

Whoever originated it then he would be crazy to use it... it would seal his death warrant with the fans... it's Punk's move, like it or not...

WWE are seemingly interested in 2 top "indy talents" but of course the thing you forget is that there is now 2 more bigger out there... If Punk truly is gone from July, and AJ is back in ROH - both KENTA and Devitt may well be better waiting and pitching in with Punk and Styles rather than the WWE... Much is being made of Devitt not wanting to swap his living in Ireland and touring as being the reason the deal isn't done... Come August if all 4 guys were in ROH headlining it might be preferable to these new talents than being in NXT in their eyes and probably in the long run make them as much money if not more without the "compromise" of the WWE system...

I saw KENTA vs Bryan Danielson in person, and that's a life experience. I don't think it translates to WWE. Different audience. You have to appeal to people 100 feet away, not just people 10 feet away.

I wouldn't mind if WWE gave it a try, but KENTA is a tiny person who doesn't speak English and doesn't have (as far as I know) the American psychology.

What's interesting is KENTA also uses DBs (rather, DB uses KENTAs) running knee. The busaiku knee I believe it's called. Interesting suggestion.

KENTA also uses the octopus stretch, now known as the Black Widow and utilised so, er, visually by AJ Lee. So a lot of his move set is covered, but he's a smart wrestler and think his mind works sufficiently well to come up with two or three 'new' eye-catching offensive manouevres and ways of countering and reversing them and incorporating them in a chain without losing that "KENTAness".

My heart screams for KENTA, the man is an absolute master in the ring and I think the tide is turning toward guys like him and what he lacks in 'typical American skillset' he makes up for elsewhere. You might not build him from the ground up or write him on the page, but the reality of his work is undeniable. He's also not just a spotfest indy-style guy, he has really good rapport with a range of workers from flyers to bigger guys like Morishima.

However: psychology is an extension of character development. And whilst my head says "YES KENTA YES", my head says this won't work, he won't be taken seriously enough because he's small but fights like a man four inches taller and sixty pounds heavier, they won't understand the nuance of his character and therefore won't be given anything sufficient to develop.

But it's worth a try. I though Bryan would be out on his arse when I heard he was called Daniel Bryan. You never know. You'd think there's going to be one breakout Japanese guy.
